Unibersidad ng Medisina sa Lungsod ng Hilagang Dagat.
Hawak ni Fang Rui ang kanyang internship notice, may bahid ng pag-aalala sa kanyang mukha habang naglalakad papunta sa opisina ng employment. Habang tumatagal, lalong nagiging kakaiba ang mukha ni Fang Rui, pakiramdam niya ay nasusuka siya. Hindi niya inasahan na may ganitong bahagi si Li Sisi, parang isang eksena sa pelikula.
Matapos ang ilang sandali, huminga ng malalim si Direktor Li at dahan-dahang nagsalita, "Hindi mo ba ako pinagkakatiwalaan? Isang maliit na bagay lang ang pagpapalit ng internship unit. Ang iba sa inyong klase ay mahirap sabihan, pero si Fang Rui, walang pera, walang koneksyon, magaling mag-aral? Anong silbi nun? Kung saan ko siya ipadala, doon siya pupunta. Ikaw, pumunta ka sa Pangalawang People's Hospital, pero huwag mong kalimutang bumalik at bisitahin ang iyong gabay."
"Hihi, Direktor Li, ang bait mo talaga. Babalik at bibisitahin kita palagi." Tumawa ng malandi si Li Sisi.
Ang mukha ni Fang Rui ay parang tubig, mahigpit niyang kinuyom ang kanyang kamao, at ang internship notice sa kanyang kamay ay halos mapunit.
Kaya pala, naisip niya. Sa kanyang mga grado, dapat sana ay pumasok siya sa Pangalawang People's Hospital o sa Unang Klinikal na Ospital ng Hilagang Dagat. Pero dahil sa maruming kasunduan ng dalawang ito, napunta siya sa isang walang kwentang community service center?
Ang kanyang galit at pagkabigo ay umapaw, itinaas niya ang kamay upang kumatok nang marinig niya ang isang banayad na boses ng babae sa pasilyo.
"Fang Rui, bakit hindi ka naghahanda para sa pag-alis? Ano'ng ginagawa mo dito?"
Nataranta si Fang Rui, alam niyang masama ang maaaring mangyari. Kung malaman ni Direktor Li na nakita niya ang kanilang kalokohan ni Li Sisi, baka mawala pa ang internship niya sa community hospital.
"Ah, ma'am, dumadaan lang po ako..."
"Oh, sige, maghanda ka na para sa pag-alis. Galingan mo sa internship, naniniwala ako sa'yo." Walang pagdududa ang babaeng guro habang bumaba sa hagdan, ngunit si Fang Rui ay naiipit sa sitwasyon.
Mula sa loob ng opisina, narinig niya ang tamad na boses ni Direktor Li, "Fang Rui, may kailangan ka ba? Pumasok ka."
Kinagat ni Fang Rui ang kanyang labi, hindi alam ang gagawin. Ang pinto ng opisina ay bumukas, at lumabas si Li Sisi, nakasuot ng maikling shorts at masikip na kamiseta. Hindi man lang siya tumingin kay Fang Rui at umalis na mayabang.
Tinitigan ni Fang Rui ang kanyang likuran, nagpasiya, at lakas-loob na pumasok sa opisina.
