Passed Out
Sabrina's POV
I went up to the highest point of the mansion as they began to approach the mansion after hanging out with my kids. Even with the tight security, they weren't able to withstand the crowd, and I truly didn't blame them.
The crowd outside was extraordinarily scary, all pissed and angry, all the packs.
Even the people I got along with previously all came out in their numbers to hurt me, to hurt my kids.
The betrayal struck me hard and I couldn't believe my eyes. I almost broke down and crashed as tears began to drop from my eyes.
“Release your kids! Release your kids! It's not our fault you decided to give birth to those kids, so thank you for saving us. Just let us sacrifice them, and all will be well!”
My eyes widened instantly.
I was shocked. I didn't even know they could see me. As the representative spoke, they all raised their heads up and saw me.
They didn't even let me speak before they began to throw stones and arrows at me and when Kyle found out where I was, he pulled me back in immediately, and I fell into his arms.
“I've been looking for you and this is what you've been up to? Why would you do that!” He yelled at me, his eyes blazing with anger.
I shook involuntarily in his arms.
“I'm scared, Kyle. I'm terrified. The kids–”
“And I said they will be fine. Let's get you inside.” He sounded exhausted and tired of me but he still tried to pacify me.
“No,” I shook my head vehemently. Kyle will never understand what it means to be a mother, even though he is their dad. I couldn't trust whatever he was planning, I was just too desperate to see straight, and I couldn't let my kids be in danger.
They had been my all for years. It's even because of one of them I ended up marrying him. We've been going strong since I gave birth to them, alone. I just couldn't no matter what. He couldn't tell me how to behave when they were my kids!
“Let me plead with them. Let me make them see reason–”
“They owe the kids nothing. They are here for blood and they'll never listen. Stay put while I look for a solution and don't try this again.”
“What, what can you do right now?” I couldn't stop crying and being vulnerable. I guessed my question pissed him off, even though it wasn't my doing, it was just fear talking. It's not like I couldn't trust him, it was just another instinct.
“Listen to me! Go to the room!”
“Kyle–”
“I said go to the room!” Finally, it hit me. I came back to my senses. It was all real and happening and all I truly had to do was trust him, still, I was heartbroken. He yelled at me. Since when did he ever yell at me?
I dropped my shoulders and headed straight to the room to cry. I was all alone, scared, stressed and worried but apparently, I wasn't allowed to be. I just needed to relax, but how could I?
As I laid flat in bed, staring at the ceiling in nothingness, I felt Kyle walk in. He got in bed and climbed on top of me.
He leaned in and kissed me soft and slow, in ways I absolutely needed. When he pulled out, I dragged him back down again for another deep kiss. Finally, I let him go and he rolled off me.
“Yes, I needed that. I really did.” I nodded absentmindedly, licking my lips in satisfaction. I earned a smile from him that reached his eyes, so I smiled back. Deep down I wanted the kids here in this very room so I could keep an eye on them.
Theresa was sweet to the kids so surely she wouldn't hand them over, but I just never knew.
“Are you feeling better now?” Kyle asked, shaking me off my reverie.
“Yes.” I nodded, flashing him another genuine smile. Gosh, I was madly in love with my husband.
“Look, I'm so sorry I yelled at you. I know it made you mad and I know you've been worried sick. Trust me, I get it. They are my kids too but you have to understand that your methods are weak. Just calm down and trust me, alright?”
“Okay. Want another kiss? Want me to bring the kids here and send Theresa away?”
“Yes please. I've been thinking about that.”
I said eagerly, and he smiled at me. I wanted to snatch the smile from his handsome face and keep it with me forever.
“Alright. He leaned in and dropped another toe curling kiss literally down my throat before he rolled off the bed. Shortly the kids ran in and climbed on top of the bed noisily. I almost burst into tears.
Kyle came after with a whole bunch of snacks, ice cream, donuts, chocolates, you name it. He also brought games I could play with the kids. Fuck, he was so thoughtful.
Then he left after kissing me and Ellie on our foreheads. I assume it was to look for a solution, I guess, since the whole riot was literally by the gate like last time.
I stuffed my face with candies and I almost forgot my worries, having fun with my kids again. It was a fun ride before they got exhausted and slept off.
I let my curiosity get the best of me again, like a stubborn wife. I let the thoughts get to me and I sneaked out of the room. Two guards were by the door but I walked past them like the Luna that I am.
When I asked them where Kyle went, I was told he was at a very far edge of the mansion, so far even I had never been there before. Great, at least he wouldn't catch me.
I sneaked back to the highest point again, just to take a peep.
I couldn't believe my eyes. In front of my very eyes, my sister and my ex husband were at the forefront of the riot, leading it. Laura and Marcus. They seemed happy with each other. How did she escape? I thought she was now with Orion so how? Marcus was out to get me too? Was everything she spewed out a lie?
I couldn't take it, the scenery, somehow I passed out. When I woke up, hours later, the first thing I saw was Kyle's face, and he was glaring at me.
“What did I tell you?” His voice sounded serious, nothing like the comforting tone. I knew I had done something wrong but still. I couldn't even speak, so he repeated his question again.
“Sabrina, what did I tell you not to do? I told you not to go there again, didn't I? Why are you disrespecting me and pissing me off?” His brows were furrowed. He was beyond angry, I could tell, but he was just being patient with me.
“I'm sorry, I promise it won't happen again. I promise.” I begged with all the remorse in the world, hoping he would forgive me.
“Of course it won't, because I'm locking you in, wife. You'll stay in here until everything dies down.”
He looked serious, but I definitely wasn't having it.
“You can't do that!”
“Don't worry the kids are with you. I've packed their necessities.”
“Laura and Marcus, I saw them! They are here! How did she get out of prison? I thought we arrested her?”
“Calm down. No wonder you fainted. Don't worry everything will be fine.”
“Can I run away with the kids? Please?” I pleaded.
“Run where? That's out of the question!”
I stopped fighting and decided to let everything go again.
“Promise me.”
“I promise.”
He left the bed and the room, and I heard the sound of the lock. He locked me in for real. The kids were still shockingly asleep.
Still, I just had to be stubborn till the very end. My kids woke up, so I decided to run away with them through the back door, somewhere safe for now.
I changed them into fresh clothes and did the same with myself. I packed snacks and supplies that would last us for a bit until I figured something out. They would get to my kids like this, and I'd rather kill myself than watch.
“Mum, where are we going?” Ellie asked, and my heart cut a little.
“Just a little trip. Don't make a sound, okay?” They both nodded. When I got to the door, I remembered that it was locked shut. Ellie kept watching me like a creep while I looked for something I could try to break the door with. All unsuccessful.
“Just call Dad to unlock it if it's jammed, mom.” She almost rolled her eyes because to her, I was being dumb and stupid.
“No, nobody's calling Dad, okay?” I yelled in panic, faster than my brain could even process.
They nodded, and it was clear that I might've just scared them.
While I looked for a solution, I remembered that my daughter could disappear. My eyes lit up instantly and I squatted to talk to her.
She looked at me expectantly.
“Sweetie, can't you make us disappear and appear in the forest?”
“I can't disappear because I don't know where we are going mum. I don't want to make mistakes.”
It clicked. She really couldn't. I rose up from the floor.
“You're right. Alright.” All of a sudden, an energy from nowhere coursed through me, directed at my hands and at the door. Power came out of it, hitting the door and breaking down the lock. The kids looked shocked, but I was the most surprised.
“Wow mom, how did you do that?”
“I don't know. I don't– I'll answer every question later. Let's head out, quickly!”
I pushed them out of the room and towards the back door.
What the hell just happened? I shook the thoughts off me as I had more pressing issues to deal with. When we escaped through one of the secret backdoors, the crowd wasn't there, probably because they had no idea it was there.
I couldn't help but smile in mild relief and happiness. We were going to be okay.
I didn't give them breathing space as we instantly began to run away from the crowd, as fast as we could all night. At one point Ellie told me she was tired.
Although she had no time to be tired as she was already slowing us down, I let us crash on the floor and have snacks and water. I was watchful and I made sure no one followed us.
When I saw that the coast was clear, I relaxed finally. I noticed the kids were shivering so I got their cardigans out and wore them for them.
“Won't dad be looking for us?”
“No, Ellie. He knows we are here. Don't worry about it. We'll get to him soon so just enjoy the trip.” I had become such a liar to my kids because I wanted to protect them.
“But mummy I don't like this trip. It's tiring and my feet hurt.” Ethan complained, gloomy.
“Oh you poor thing, don't worry I'll put some ointment on it.” I smiled, my hands grazing his legs as some form of comfort.
If only I had the chance to even put the ointment because as we spoke, werewolves I had barely perceived jumped us, picked us up and immediately started taking us to the sacrificial ground.
It happened so suddenly, I forgot to react. I couldn't believe what had happened. They caught us, and they are taking my kids to kill them.
I passed out.
