Hallucinating?

Sabrina's POV

I felt sudden chills. When was the last time I heard her voice? I remember, one of the last things she told me was to leave my own husband's house, and that I was barren.

It's been years. What did she want now? I never knew or expected that she would turn into this monster.

“Laura.” I responded. It seems she knew I would try to call her using Mom's phone and she only picked up because she knew it was me.

“How are you, Sabrina? Did you like my gift?” Real psychopath. My sister is truly crazy.

“What is wrong with you?” I spat in anger. There was no time for jokes.

“What isn't? You did this to me! You made me like this. You made me want all of it so quit asking silly questions. Did you like my gift, yes or no?”

I shook my head slowly in realization. There was no coming back from this. There was no saving her.

There was nothing like getting her bundled up and thrown out once caught. She was going to serve a prison sentence no matter what.

“You're insane. Know that I won't let this slide. Not this time. I've never been mean to you, ever.” I tried to be strong and strict but it was still hard. She's still my baby sister.

“Yeah, like you or your pitiful husband can do something about it. You know, Kyle is hot. I saw you too looking for me after the Luna horse racing. Up close, he looked like a catch. I think I want this one. Writhing under him would be amazing. You would know that, right? I wonder what it feels like to be-”

“Laura!” My mom yelled into the phone very loudly, showing her disappointment but Laura wasn't moved one bit.

I froze. I immediately went blank. Now she was after Kyle, to seduce him?

“Right. Of course you're there,” She said to our mom before she continued. I could feel hatred course through her, even through the phone.

“Sabrina, I hate you and I'm going to make your life go to shit. I won't let you see your kids and all of this is for my own pleasure. I've not even started messing with you yet. I will drive you to insanity, even if it's the last thing I'll do.”

I tried to hold myself from breaking down. Why? Why?

“What did I ever do to you to make me the enemy? All I did was care for you.” No matter the angle I looked at, I couldn't even find an excuse that merited such treatment from her. She's the one that took everything from me and sent me packing. Now I'm happy again, she won't leave me alone?

“No, you got married and refused to share. You think you're better than me, but you're literally the adopted daughter!” She roared but mother wasn't having it. I noticed that tears were already rolling down her cheeks, breaking me completely.

“Laura, stop making silly excuses! Shut up for once!” I yelled, exhausted and angry.

“Did you just yell at me? Are you crazy?”

She's gone. I should accept it. We are enemies. It's okay for siblings to be enemies.

“What are you doing with Orion? I know what you did to get me impeached and how you blackmailed all the council elders. Your plan didn't work.” I asked, hitting the nail on the head. Kyle also had to put him in check.

“I'm sleeping with him, why? Will you report me to my husband or what? I don't think it's any of your business. If you try to come between us, I'll sleep with Kyle too.”

“So you're still together?” I blinked. It's clear that she's a serial cheater and adulterer.

“I hate you for giving him to me!” She suddenly yelled, startling me.

“You stole him from me!” I retorted. What the hell?

“Oh please. You could barely give him what he wanted!” I could tell she was rolling her eyes, clearly not remorseful but pissed that Marcus could also hurt her. Such a jerk.

“And now, you're trying to take everything I have like a loser.” The line went silent for a while, like we were both trying to catch our breaths and process what I just said to her. She was pissed, she didn't even have a comeback.

“If I were you I would shut up, considering the fact that I have your kids.”

I just shook my head in nothing but pity.

“When did you reduce yourself to a petty kidnapper? What is wrong with you? What did I ever do to you?”

“Shut up and hand the phone over to mom.”

I sighed and did as she ordered.

“Mum, I hope you're happy that you've abandoned me. I thought we were a team. I forgave you the first time for abandoning me for years. Now you turn your back on me? Really? For that girl? Tell me why. Tell me why! Tell me why or I'll go crazy!”

“Laura! Please, I beg you. Stop this. Come back to your senses. I beg. Please, Laura, please. You don't have to do this. Release my grandchildren.”

Her voice shook as she begged, tears staining her face and her dress. She was trembling in shock and sadness. Even she couldn't believe what her daughter had turned into.

“Oh, right. Your grandchildren,” Then scary, psychotic laughter erupted from the other end of the phone. It took a while, but it died down.

“You went back there because of grandchildren, because I have no kids yet? Wow. I should've known. Mom, you're evil!”

“Laura, I beg you. Don't let me die of a heart attack.”

“Mother, Incase I've not been clear enough, I don't care if you die of a heart attack. You betrayed my trust, so go to fucking hell!”

The call went off immediately and when I cleared out my feelings, I realized that it was my mom that ended the call. She was in a pool of her own tears, shaken and in disbelief. She was very hurt.

“I can't do this. I can't. I need to go in to process everything.” She shook her head, exhausted but I wanted to try to make her feel better. Although it was her fault, she was trying to fix everything but Laura had also abandoned her. She felt bad and I got it.

“Mum–”

“Just let me, please.”

“Okay.”

I watched her disappear into the halls and lock herself inside her room to cry.

She didn't even take her phone, so I dropped it on a nearby top.

I didn't know if I could call Kyle again without going crazy so I opted for pacing across the room and trying to calm my nerves.

Then something happened. The scariest thing I had ever experienced in my entire life.

Just out of nowhere, my kids suddenly appeared right in front of me, holding hands.

I blinked severally as they rushed me.

“Am I hallucinating? Have I finally lost it? Yes, I've lost it. I've cried so much, I ended up losing it.” I nodded my head and laughed bitterly.

They got to me and touched me, and when they did I shook in fear.

“Get away from me!” I screamed and shifted away from them. Ellie's face scrunched up before she began to cry loudly. I heard it, it was no delusion. My kids were here, and they were real.

I wiped my tears and squatted, then widened my arms so both of them could hug me. They rushed me again and we embraced.

“I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.” I wiped Ellie's tears and checked if they had any injuries. It was understandable what had happened. Ellie used her powers to bring them back, but I still asked them what happened anyway.

“What happened?”
