Birthday Party

Sabrina's POV

It's been a while. Today is Mom's birthday and she didn't expect me to remember, or the surprise party we were currently preparing for her while I put her to sleep last night.

I don't know how we even got here, but we did, and Kyle has been so supportive. I panicked all through the night but he just took care of me and assured me that everything will be fine.

As we speak, we've still not found Laura and Orion is actually crazy, but I'm in a better position. I've stopped letting it make me worry.

She can't harm me anymore. In the midst of all of this, it's even crazier that Marcus is on the low, especially since it was no news that Kyle went live, looking for his wife.

Moving on, just yesterday, my mom and I went to see the doctor, first appointment. I deliberately exhausted her right after so she would sleep in.

I was incredibly nervous, and Mom was also nervous because she almost knew nothing too. Her pregnancy was complicated so even though she waited for years, she dreaded it and wasn't in her right mind for most of it.

So we were two nervous but excited women at the hospital. It felt like it was the two of us that were pregnant.

Kyle never bothered with where I was but I knew he had security follow me anyway, they never reported back to him, they just followed, even though it was a hospital. He trusted me so much that if I were sick, I would obviously tell him.

He was against them telling him about my movements. I guess he got bothered by my behavior when he locked me in here in the first months of our marriage, and now I can use it to my advantage.

I used a private doctor because I didn't want my business out, and we also went out in disguises so people wouldn't see us and ruin everything before I even had the chance to tell my husband.

We arrived and she welcomed us well. She had me perform another test as a formality then checked everything she had to check to truly confirm. My mother was grinning from ear to ear the whole time and I was truly glad she came with me.

When we finished from the hospital, I was a happy woman. I took my mother to a good restaurant to chill and have fun after we got rid of our disguises. I made sure she was comfortable and let her order everything she wanted.

We settled down well.

“I'm so happy for you, Sabrina. I'm truly happy.” She started off, breaking the silence for the first time since we dug into our meal.

“I know Mom,” I nodded my head in agreement. It was clear that she was.

“You do sound remorseful and no matter what, I also want my mom. I'm also learning to forgive you. You should thank Kyle too for letting it happen.”

“You're right, I should.” She threw bacon into her mouth and chewed.

“I saw Laura a couple of days ago.”

“Really, where?” Her eyes flickered with emotion. She did miss her daughter, but she didn't approve of the things she had been doing. The plan was to bundle her back to the scarlet pack, my own pack when she's caught if she stops here, since she's still my sister.

She's just being overzealous and losing her sanity. At least that was my way of making excuses for her.

“An event. We've been looking for her ever since so I hope she gets caught soon.”

“Okay. I'm really sorry. I really am.” Then she shook her head like she couldn't believe she gave birth to such an evil brat. She had the most part to play anyway.

“I know, it's fine.” The whole time my mom put up a guilty face unconsciously, she didn't even talk about her birthday that was going to be today.

Then I took her shopping. I wanted to do all the things I didn't get to do with her since I was little.

We first shopped for clothes and I got her so many outfits. We bonded the most there when she tested the outfits and I got to pick the ones that fit her. I almost shed tears. If any one had told me that I would ever do something like this with my mom, I would've never believed, but here we are.

From shopping for clothes, we shopped for groceries, not like I needed them or it was even a task, I just wanted to pretend for once that we were just mother and daughter getting groceries.

After shopping we took a pause and sat down, then ordered ice teas and drank while we watched people walk in and out of the mall.

“How about the amusement park, mom? Just for a little fun.” I urged her.

She shook her head like it physically hurt her.

“No, I'm tired. We should just go home.”

I frowned immediately.

She was probably tired, but not enough by my standards. I needed her to be so worn out and knocked out so the surprise would come out well.

“Come on mom, just this once, please. I promise we won't waste any time. I'm just really happy you're here.”

“You need more rest than me. Remember that you're pregnant–”

“Mom, we are in public!” I panicked. Anyhow, they could pick up the news.

“Right, I'm sorry. Okay fine let's go, but just for an hour. Let me even see what the whole fuss about amusement parks is about.”

My mom clearly had more fun than I did, and she was having so much fun, she forgot she was tired. Coming here with her was the most intelligent thing I've probably done all day. She didn't let me try some rides because she was worried about my pregnancy, a pregnancy that wasn't even obvious yet.

As I looked at her, I realized that it was her one life too and if she wasn't so busy being caught up trying to ruin my life all this time, she would've really had such a great time.

Finally, it was time to head back. She was properly exhausted, so she hit the bed immediately. She didn't even stay up for dinner. I was so proud of myself.

Immediately, the decorations started overnight. Kyle ordered me to go to bed and stayed up. It pissed me off, but I realized that I truly needed sleep.

If I wasn't pregnant, I swear I would've fought him. When I woke up, he was still supervising but the whole place was the most beautiful I had ever seen. Luckily for us, it fell on a Saturday so the kids didn't have to go to school and they both got ready for school.

I joined Kyle in the shower and we dressed up.

I woke my mom up and made sure she looked her best, even though she couldn't understand why I was bothering her. I finally shed tears when she came out and saw everything.

“You remembered.” She said, gasping, a hand covering her mouth as her eyes widened in shock. She couldn't believe it.

I nodded as we shared a hug. It was the most magical thing ever. I'm such a birthday party thrower. Kyle got all his friends to come since I had none and basically, we had such a great day.
