Chapter 1
Jane's POV
“Mr. Nathan, this is the last dose of your medicine, and you will be completely healed from this disability.” Doctor Ethan warmly expressed.
Nathan’s lips curved with a bright smile. “Finally, my troubles are over.” He remarked.
I smiled in excitement.
Today marks exactly two years that Nathan has been battling this disability after a terrible car accident. He once had friends and family who asked after him often just to share in his wealth.
And after the terrible accident, he became disabled. Everyone, including his family, deserted him.
I was the only person who stood by him. He lost his vast fortune because he wasn't there to supervise his businesses. The remaining money with him was what he used to settle his medication for the first six months.
When I saw his hardships, I had to intervene by sponsoring everything.
Today, I am happy that the money I spent didn't go to waste.

The next day, Nathan took his first step from the wheelchair he had spent two years on. In a matter of weeks, he learnt how to walk again.
Nathan resumed his business, and everything went back to normal for him.
July 3rd is Nathan's birthday, and that day happened to be today.
I wanted to surprise him that very day, and so I left home very early before he woke up.
I went to a gift shop that morning.
“Good morning. How much is this portrait?” I asked.
“Twenty thousand dollars.” She responded.
I wasn't satisfied with what I was seeing. Married to him for two years, I knew he wouldn't be thrilled with that gift.
And so, I took out my phone and brought out his picture.
“Can you create another portrait from scratch?” I asked, looking at her face and hoping she would just say yes.
“I can do it.” She responded, and hope was restored in my heart.
“Look at this picture and draw him out inside a beautiful portrait.” After stating what I wanted, she collected my phone and drew exactly what I wanted.
I had expected that she would be fast about things. Unfortunately, she was thirty minutes late.
‘Damn.’ I grunted with displeasure. “Please be fast about it.” I became impatient because I had the intention of surprising him in the house.
She took more time, and when she was done, she said, “This painting cost sixty thousand dollars.”
That wasn't an issue to me. “Okay. Wrap it inside a gift box.” I ordered before I gave her the sixty thousand dollars that she requested.
“Thank you.” I didn't wait to hear a response. I rushed back home only to see that he had gone to work.
“Fuck!” I was disappointed in myself for messing things up this way. I decided to go and meet him in his office.
Delay is not denial.
I wanted to dress up, but then… ‘Dressing up will only drag things further. Nathan would be mad at me if I didn't wish him early.’
I rushed out of the house and had to walk to his company because the taxi for that morning was full.
My clothes drenched in sweat and my hair tangled. My sandal was nothing to write home about too. But that wasn't my focus.
All I had in mind was to get to him as soon as I could. I walked into his company and went directly to his office.
“Good morning.” His secretary greeted me with respect because she knew I was his wife. But the look on her face was quite absurd. I knew there was something going on.
“Good morning.” I responded to her. And I went to Nathan's door, and I opened it at once.
Wanting to shout, Surprise! But I was rather shocked by Nathan.
“What the fuck is this, Nathan!” Those words slipped out of my lips as my eyes bulged. My body trembled as the gift I held onto fell out of my hand.
Nathan turned his head, casting a disgusting glare at me. “What do you want? As you can see, you are disturbing the moment.” He said, his voice cold and rigid.
My face shrank while I was overwhelmed with shock. There was a seizure in my heart, and I couldn't breathe properly for a second.
And I snapped out of it. “Have you gone nuts? How dare you cheat on me with this slut?!” I raised my voice at him.
And the next thing he did was to walk up to me and dish a dirty slap on my face. “Don't you dare call my wife a slut.” His face was fierce.
Pain ran across my face as I held my cheek.
“Your wife? When did you take a second wife?” My eyes bulged as I questioned him.
“I do not have time for this drama, woman! She is the only wife of mine because you are out!” After uttering those words, he brought out divorce papers and threw them at my face.
I was transfixed at the spot, picked up the paper, and my heart hit hard against my chest while tears ran down my eyes.
“A divorce paper? After all my sacrifices? Where was she when I had to go through the pain of looking after your dumb ass for two years!” I raised my voice at him in anger.
“She has been there this whole time. She was patiently waiting for you to clean the dirt so she could have a clean playground.” He was mean with his words.
His words broke me even more. “But why the divorce? Didn't I try enough?!” I asked so that I could get an explanation.
“You are stinking, Jane. I can't deal with this trash anymore.” He spoke with degradation.
I felt embarrassed, and my words cleft to my jaws.
“I mean… Look at yourself. Is this how a CEO’s wife should look? Judge yourself. If you are a man, will you settle for you?” He put those words across to me, and I was hurt to my bone.
