Chapter 8 Calling Off the Wedding

Jayden narrowed his eyes and raised his brows. "There has to be a reason for calling off the wedding."

"Of course there is!"

Madam Griffiths said, "I've already checked your compatibility with the second daughter of the Baldwin family. She will not get along well with you. She's going to take your life. You can't handle her."

After Madam Griffiths finished speaking, she seemed to have thought of something, then grabbed hold of Jayden's hand again and said earnestly, "Jayden, you have a great responsibility to help the Griffiths family. You can't accept a woman like her. Listen to me and call off the marriage. I've already found a good girl for you."

As Madam Griffiths finished speaking, a smile appeared on her face. "That girl is the one who saved my life today. As my grandson, there's nothing wrong with you repaying her by marrying her, right?"

"In my opinion, that girl is the granddaughter-in-law that God gave me. She is your destined wife. If you two don't get married, God will punish you."

Melanie lowered her head and clenched her fists.

She wondered what was so good about the girl that Madam Griffiths could not stop talking about her.

After hearing this, Jayden's face remained expressionless. He said in a calm tone, "As you wish, Grandma."

Madam Griffiths was already prepared for Jayden to go against her. Hence, when she suddenly heard Jayden's reply, she jumped in shock.

"Jayden, are you lying to me to cheer me up?"

"No." Jayden looked at her affectionately. "I'll listen to you."

Madam Griffiths was so happy that she could not stop grinning. "That's great! Don't worry, I have good taste! The pretty girl who saved me will bring you good luck. The most important thing is that she is so beautiful that you will definitely fall in love with her at first sight!"

Jayden looked at Madam Griffiths helplessly but nodded gently.

Jayden knew Madam Griffiths well. If he refused right now, she would definitely cry and throw a tantrum, forcing him to agree.

No matter what, the girl had saved Madam Griffiths. Hence, Jayden would definitely repay her kindness.

He would give her anything she wanted, but he would not marry her.

Melanie stood by the side. When Jayden did not reject Madam Griffiths' request, her face immediately turned pale.

"Don't just stand there! Help me find that girl. I'll help set you two up!" Madam Griffiths nudged Jayden, as if wishing that the two could get married immediately.

"By the way, Steven." Madam Griffiths looked at Steven with a serious face. "I want to know everything about the girl in ten minutes!"

Steven was at a loss for words.

Jayden rubbed his brows helplessly. "Grandma, Steven can't work that fast."

"Why not?" Madam Griffiths muttered. "The personal assistants in novels would always do whatever they were told. I only want the girl's information in ten minutes, so why can't he do it?"

Madam Griffiths had been reading too many novels in her free time.

The more she read, the more brainwashed she became.

Jayden explained helplessly, "Grandma, don't read too many novels. They're all lies."

Steven adjusted his glasses and said with a forced smile, "Madam, the characters in the novels are all fake and exaggerated. It would take at least three days for me to investigate someone."

Madam Griffith pouted her lips in grievance. "Alright then. Three days it is. I must get her information in three days. Also, you must cancel the wedding with the Baldwin family."

Jayden pursed his thin lips. "Get some rest. I'll handle the rest."

"Well, you do you." Madam Griffith lay down obediently.

Jayden stood up and looked down at his watch. "Melanie, take good care of Grandma."

"Don't worry. I will." Melanie's eyes sparkled as she looked at Jayden.

Melanie sat down beside Madam Griffiths after Jayden left.

"Grandma, how do you feel?"

Madam Griffiths lifted the blanket and sat up. "I can't sleep. I don't feel comfortable not having found the girl yet."

Melanie smiled gently and said, "Grandma, she must be a good girl for you to miss her so much."

"That's right! She's the granddaughter-in-law I wanted," Mrs. Griffiths said proudly.

Melanie looked down and said, "Even if that girl has a boyfriend, we should also thank her."

Madam Griffiths ignored the first half of Melanie's statement. "Best let Jayden marry her."

Melanie set aside her curiosity and said softly, "Grandma, I heard that Mrs. Baldwin is not easy to get along with. Will her daughter also be weird and hard to get along with? What if the Baldwin family makes a scene when we call off the wedding? Why don't we think of a way to make the Baldwin family voluntarily call off the wedding instead?"

Madam Griffiths looked at Melanie in confusion. "Do you have any ideas?"
