Chapter 2: The Car Accident

Jennifer confirmed the driver’s name and then secretly glanced at his backside.

The driver was wearing white pants, and she could vaguely see black markings—something that looked like lace…

A shiver ran down Jennifer’s spine. She had no intention of judging the driver’s preferences; they were strangers. She was just a little curious about his future.

Jennifer clicked on the driver’s future, and a line of information appeared above his avatar:

#Scott felt his beloved car was getting dirty, so he planned to wash it in the afternoon. The owner of the car wash had a Rottweiler. Scott, amused by the dumb-looking dog, decided to tease it. Unfortunately, the dog broke free from its leash and bit Scott’s backside, tearing his pants and exposing his secret to everyone. The car wash owner, seeing Scott’s black lace underwear, complimented him on his pale white butt.#

Jennifer’s mouth twitched violently as she read Scott’s future. Just imagining the predicament, he was about to face made her feel secondhand embarrassment.

“Miss, your parents seem to have arrived at the destination. Are you getting off here?” the driver suddenly asked, turning to look at her.

Jennifer nodded, paid the fare, and was about to open the door when she suddenly turned back toward the driver.

“Mr. Scott, I know a bit about the occult. If you encounter a Rottweiler today, try to stay away from it. It could cause you serious harm.”

With that, Jennifer stepped out of the car, leaving Scott staring after her in a daze.

After Jennifer left, Scott frowned.

“Kids these days say the weirdest things…”

He checked the time. It was almost the end of his shift. He decided not to take any more passengers and headed to the car wash.

Jennifer followed Sean’s car as it drove into the parking lot, trailing behind other vehicles.

“Wasn’t the prophecy supposed to say they would park on the roadside?” Jennifer frowned, starting to doubt whether her abilities had malfunctioned.

After waiting in line, Sean and his wife, Scarlyn, finally reached the parking lot entrance. But when Sean saw the parking fees, he cursed out loud.

“These bloodsuckers have lost their minds! Ten dollars per hour? Why don’t they rob people?”

He hesitated at the entrance, contemplating whether to pay the fee. The cars behind him honked impatiently, urging him to make a decision.

Just as Sean reluctantly decided to pull into the lot, Scarlyn pointed to the roadside, which was not far away.

“Honey, look! There are cars parked over there. We can park on the street, too.”

“Won’t the police give us a ticket?” Sean hesitated.

Scarlyn scoffed, “You’re such a coward! So many cars are parked there; the police don’t care. What are you afraid of? Or do you want to hand over ten bucks to those greedy capitalists?”

Sean found her argument reasonable. Changing direction, he drove away from the parking lot and parked behind a truck on the roadside.

Jennifer, watching from a distance, felt her heart tighten.

The prophecy had foretold that Sean would get into an accident because he parked on the roadside. But would it happen while parking, or when they were leaving?

As she pondered, a piercing horn blared in her ears.

A speeding truck barreled toward the roadside parking spots. Jennifer saw the driver's terrified expression through the windshield.

Then came a deafening crash.

The truck rear-ended Sean’s car with tremendous force, pushing it forward. But in front of Sean’s car was another parked truck.

The two massive vehicles crushed Sean’s car between them, flattening it thoroughly.

Jennifer stood frozen in shock. Around her, pedestrians screamed in horror.

Her prophecy had come true.

No one could survive an impact like that.

Twenty minutes later, police cars, ambulances, and firefighters arrived. But it was too late—there was nothing they could do. Sean and Scarlyn had been reduced to lifeless paper dolls.

After an investigation, the police concluded that it was an accident. The delivery truck had suffered brake failure. The driver had tried his best to minimize damage—on one side were pedestrians, and on the other were parked cars. He had no choice but to crash into the stationary vehicles. Unfortunately, Sean and Scarlyn remained inside their car.

At the car wash, Scott heard about the accident from a colleague.

“A middle-aged couple in a yellow sedan?” he murmured, suddenly thinking of Jennifer.

“Hey, Scott, just got off work?” The car wash owner, Barn, greeted him.

“Yeah, Barn… Is that your dog?” Scott asked, eyeing the Rottweiler on Barn’s leash.

Barn grinned proudly. “Sure is! Lately, there have been some thieves around. This guy is better than a security camera.”

Scott reached out to pet the massive dog, but then Jennifer’s warning echoed in his mind. His hand hesitated mid-air before he quickly retracted it.

“Scott, I’ll wash your car in a bit. I need to check something first,” Barn said, leading the Rottweiler toward the roadside.

But suddenly, the dog started barking furiously.

“Hey, Fireball! Calm down!” Barn shouted, yanking the leash, but the dog struggled violently.

Scott felt a sense of dread creeping over him.

Barn, frustrated, kicked the Rottweiler in an attempt to discipline it.

The dog violently shook its head—and then, with a mighty jerk, it broke free from the leash.

It lunged straight at Scott.

“Shit—Barn, control your damn dog!” Scott shouted in panic.

Jennifer had no idea that Scott’s future was unfolding exactly as she had predicted. But right now, she had no time to care.

She had left the accident scene immediately after it happened. Back home, she washed her face with cold water to clear her mind. Then, as she looked up at the mirror, something appeared on the surface.

A screen popped up above her head.

A secret has been detected in the target’s life. Do you wish to view it?

Yes or No

The target’s future has been detected. Do you wish to view it?

Yes or No

Jennifer immediately clicked to view her future. Although she already knew her secrets, she wanted to know what would happen next.

After Jennifer’s adoptive parents died, the police found her biological parents…

Her future was long, but when she saw the part about her murder, she froze in shock…
