A letter
CHAPTER 06
Serena’s POV
Dean wasn’t kidding when he said we would have a breath of fresh air here in the penthouse, the cold breeze kept on blowing and it was everything I needed.
My brother and I had done more than enough catching up, he had summarized all that happened ten years ago and I enjoyed every bit of it.
I laughed my ass out in the process and even my cheeks still hurt from too much laughing, I did miss out on a whole lot while I was away from the pack.
“You know there’s something you still haven’t told me about” I broke the ongoing silence,
“What is that?” Dean didn’t hesitate to ask.
“Your mate, what about her?” I asked,
It suddenly occurred to me earlier that he hadn’t spoken to me about any lady throughout our conversation and neither has he introduced any lady to me ever since I returned.
“She rejected me” he avoided my eyes before responding.
“Again?!” I shone my eyes brightly and inquired.
“No! It’s the same person” he hurriedly spoke.
My mouth was no longer agape, I had assumed he found himself another mate and she rejected him again.
“Don’t you think it is time to move on?” I asked him in a low tone, I hoped I wasn’t about to make him feel bad.
He gave no response and I wasn’t so sure if I ought to go on or pause at this point as I didn’t want to be insensitive but my wolf, Aria asked that I go on.
“She rejected you ten years ago which was before I left the pack and you still haven’t gotten yourself another mate” I cooed, a little reminder shouldn’t hurt him.
“Let’s talk about you, I’ll get myself a mate when the time is right” A smile appeared on his face from the moment he began to speak.
I could tell by the look on his face and the tone he spoke with that he didn’t mean what he just said, he wouldn’t get himself a mate when the time was right,
Besides the time was right already and he still hadn’t gotten himself another mate, I wasn’t willing to speak to him about it today again, another day and time definitely.
“Alpha Basil asked that I bring this for you” A maid walked into the penthouse and remarked,
She dropped a glass of milkshake on the table and turned to leave, Both Dean and I had eyes on her until she was out of our sight.
Basil had been unnecessarily nice towards me and that was something to be worried about, my wolf agreed with me on that.
Someone who couldn’t stand my presence would now do anything to have a conversation with me, literally anything.
“Why did you do that?” I questioned Dean while wearing a frown,
He had poured away the milkshake and dropped the glass cup on the table, he had some words to say but he was inaudible.
I burst into hysterical laughter and placed my cupped hand on my lower lip, his facial expression was killing me.
“Don’t tell me you had plans to drink that” he said in the middle of my laughter,
“I was only teasing you, I also wanted to pour it away” I mentioned after I stopped laughing.
“That bastard is up to something and if he knows what is good for him, he had better stay away from you” he spoke in a tone that I found sarcastic, he just won’t stop cracking me up.
I wasn’t scared about the plans that the wicked twins had for me as I came prepared for them and I also had Dean by my side.
Bernard placed a knock on the door of my room yesterday and when I showed up to his face, he informed me that he was in search of Basil.
His words made me stare at him from head to toe, it was my way of trying to figure out if everything was alright with him upstairs,
He was in search of his twin brother and he decided to come search for him in the room that was given to me, I didn’t give him a response before slamming the door in his face.
“A letter came in for you Miss Serena ” A guard announced, I was so carried away by my thoughts that I didn’t even notice when he made his way into the penthouse.
“From who?” Dean asked the guard and hurriedly took it off his hands,
“You can go” I dismissed the guard and fixated my eyes on my brother.
“I know who sent it!” I spoke in a high tone, I didn’t want him to open the letter on my behalf.
“What if it’s a letter bomb from the twins?” He inquired, he got me laughing and now he was being overprotective.
Without opening the letter, I could tell it was from Shaun, I knew he meant his words when he promised to send me handwritten letters occasionally.
Before Dean could finish opening the letter, I snatched it off his hands, I was right when I said the letter was from Shaun.
“It’s not a letter bomb as you can see,” I said to his face,
The only reason I wasn’t reading the letter yet was because every line would make me go pink and I didn’t want Dean making fun of me.
“Is it from him?” He cleared the obstruction in his throat before asking,
“Who?” I acted as though I had no idea of what he was saying.
“Him!” He raised his voice and his nose.
“Is there a him?” Basil asked, I could tell it was him as his scent had filled my nostrils.
He felt it was right for him to just walk in and intrude on my brother and I’s privacy, he wasn’t even remorseful about it.
“Bernard needs you on the training ground right now” he informed Dean,
He could have just said he wanted a lone moment with me.
