Chapter 3
Desmond's POV
As I led my new wife into my mansion, the fact that I was now a married man surprised me.
I had married this woman and I was now a husband. Me, who used to mock my friends for being married, was now one. Even if it was for business reasons, I still was married to someone.
I chuckled and remembered the last wedding I had attended.
Flashback
One year ago
I stood at the corner of a party eyeing the processions of it.
It was the engagement party of one of my childhood friends, Jacob Alberto.
I had become friends with him because my father and his father were business partners.
My father had many business partners, and he made sure I spoke to every child of them, to “Foster profitable relations” like he would always say.
But out of all these children I had had to speak with, Jacob was the most fun and the only one who understood me.
That is why I gave him the honor of gracing his occasion, even telling him just last night at his bachelor party, that he would regret getting married.
I lifted my cup of wine to my mouth and sipped. My eyes scanned the room, searching for the groom.
Even though I had been invited by my friend to this occasion, I had not wanted to come. That was why I even refused to be among his train of groomsmen.
But my father, had dragged me to this wedding to attend, to “strengthen relations with each other”
As if being friends with the groom was not enough, my father also urged me to make friends with the bride, whose father was a business tycoon.
I was not interested in strengthening any relationship with anybody. I just wanted to greet my stupid friend and leave.
I spotted the bride and groom at a spot, greeting the guests. From my observation though, I could see that it was only the groom who was talking. The bride was mute all through the greetings, keeping her head down, her eyes sad and…dead.
It was all too obvious that she didn’t want to be there, almost as much as me.
Why did she look so sad though?
Jacob had told me it was an arranged marriage. The bride and groom did not love each other, but she didn't have to make it so obvious.
I observed the bride again. Beneath her gloomy countenance lay a fair beautiful woman. Her eyes were huge and green, her lips were full and I could tell from where I stood that they were soft. After all, I knew the body of women almost as much as I knew myself.
I took another sip of my drink and made my way to the bride and groom.
They were talking to another couple when I interrupted them.
“Hey,” I said.
Jacob and Alissa, the bride, turned to face me.
I gave him a big hug.
“ Desmond !” Jacob exclaimed, smiling widely, “I see you made it to my wedding after all.”
“Well, I had to. My father dragged me here and I was curious to see the bride.”
Jacob's possessive hands tightened around Alissa's arm, causing her to wince in pain.
I noticed this but did not comment.
I understood his reaction though. I was known as a playboy among my friends, or rather the whole city.
I was the famous heartbreaker who had banged countless women. Single women, married women, all kinds of women.
Don't blame me. I was just too hot and they loved to throw themselves at me. It was not my fault God gave me such a well-sculpted face and a high libido.
“I commend your efforts in making this wedding a brilliant one. I did not expect you to do a great job! Oh I remember, you paid people to do so,” I said, trying to tease my friend.
“Well, I did pay event planners to plan my wedding but everything, from the decorations to the food, to the music and the hall was my idea,” Jacob boasted.
That was a lie. Jacob's mom had been the one who made the preparations for the wedding.
“Oh, I see.”
“So what about business? I heard your group experienced some losses lately. You just became the CEO of the company. It must be disappointing for you to experience huge losses already! Just know that if you need help, the Alberto Corporation is always here to help, “ Jacob said, smirking.
Our idea of a joke was throwing jabs at each other.
I smirked.
'Nice one, Jacob. You looked for where it would hurt the most. '
“Well, we won’t need your help because we are already working on it. By the way, your bride is very beautiful. I didn’t think you could score such a pretty bride.”
Alissa looked up for the first time that day.
“Hi. Are you enjoying your wedding?” I asked.
Her eyes widened in surprise.
“I…You are asking me?” she asked, her voice a whisper.
I wondered why she was so surprised by my question.
Or is she startled by my god-like charm?
“Yeah, I'm asking you,” I replied.
Jacob frowned and pulled her closer to him, his hand tightly gripping her waist.
“She is enjoying it,” Jacob said.
“I didn’t ask you.”
Jacob clenched his jaw in anger. I could see he was losing his patience. Good, just what I wanted.
I turned to Alissa.
“Are you enjoying this party?”
Alissa looked at Jacob with an unsure look.
“She is enjoying it,” Jacob said again.
“Why do you keep speaking for her?”
“Why do you keep asking another man's wife such type of questions? “
“Alright, alright,” I said, raising my hands in surrender.
It seemed I had overdone it this time. I had to stop.
I looked around and spotted one of the bridesmaids who had a banging body. I immediately went to meet her.
“Hi,” I said.
“Hello,” she said, “You must be Desmond .”
“Yeah, I am. You have a nice voice,” I commented.
She blushed and smiled.
“Thank you,” she replied.
I kept flirting with her and she kept enjoying it.
That was until I bumped into a woman, causing her to almost fall to the ground. I immediately caught her by the waist.
“Sorry, are you?”
OMG.
Staring back at me was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. And I have been with a lot of women, so for this woman to stand out to me, she was gorgeous and I found myself staring at her and observing all about her.
