Chapter 7 – SHE DESERVED THE TRUTH

Hailey’s POV

It surprised me to see Curtis at the mating ball.

“Hey!” I gave him a tap on the shoulders. “Who’s the new friend?”

I observed early this morning that he was holding hands with this girl and she was obviously flirting with him a lot. She tried to kiss Curtis on the cheek but he shied away from it. The disappointment heavily laid on the girl's face.

The girl touched him in ways that only a lover should. I needed to investigate up clear.

“H-Hailey! ”Curtis stuttered in shock as he turned to face me, “OH, this is Jazmine. We met last night”

'Please don’t embarrass me or ask me questions', he begged deep inside.

“Hi Jazmine, I am Hailey and this is my new found mate Raj. How did you meet Curtis?” I needed to know what the hell was going on here.

Curtis wasn’t supposed to attend the mating ceremony and if he was going to be here Sianna would have told me. In fact, we would have been hanging out together, so what gives?

“We met las…..”

“Last night at the ball and we got to know each other.” He cut her off. “We hit it off immediately and decided to have breakfast together.”

Jazmine was brassed off with the answer that he gave me. I let them finish at the counter, so that we followed them to sit at a table. He was nervous which was a sign of guilt was. I was evaluating his body language cautiously.

“Is he your mate?”

“Yes!”

“No!”

They said it simultaneously and I was getting angry as I realized that Curtis was trying to hide the truth.

Jazmine gave Curtis a look of dissatisfaction and he tried to explain himself apologetically.

“I mean we haven’t accepted each other as yet.”

“Are you gonna?” I asked him directly as I swallowed my egg omelet and then bit into my toast viciously.

“Ouch!” This trick ass son of a bitch just kicked me on my leg.

Protectively, Raj immediately checked if I was ok.

“I felt a stitch pain but I am fine.” I told Raj, while staring at Curtis and gritting my teeth.

I was definitely going to whoop Curtis' ass, when we get back home. Sianna was so faithful to him. I hoped she would not forgive him if Curtis cheated.

“We agreed to get to know each other and take it slow.” Jazmine explained. “We are not rushing.”

“Do you have a boyfriend?”

“Hailey, enough!” Curtis snapped at me. “You will not interview my mate!”

“What about you, Curtis? Do you have a girlfriend back home, hmmm?” I turned to interview him.

He slammed his fist on the table as his rage oozed and which drew the attention of others in the room.

I am the Beta’s daughter so his little aura doesn’t intimidate me. Raj shifted a bit uncomfortable in his chair.

The question caused the desired result. Now Jazmine also wanted to know.

“Do you?” She waited for his answer.

Curtis gulped and choked as I looked hysteric at his now disheveled image. I dare him would say no, and my fist were ready to take him on.

“Yes, but we should talk about it in private.” He finally stopped choking and looked at me with a death glare before facing Jazmine.

Jazmine slapped him and left the table. He stood instantly and went after her. I shook my head with revulsion.

I am of the conclusion that he wasn’t going to tell her about Sianna.

I am not going to just stand by and watch my best friend get played. I am going to be there to see his next move, because if he didn't tell her, I would!

“Why did you feel upset for them?” Raj caressed my shoulders as he could sense how upset I was.

I sighed to release the built up frustration.

“He’s with my best friend but he came here behind her back to hunt for his mate. A mate that he most likely doesn’t want to reject.”

I was still not calm but his hands on mine felt amazing as the sparks engulfed me.

“Maybe he will do it in his time. They just met for heaven’s sake.” He was trying to pacify the situation in a low tone.

“We grew up together so I know him. He has that whipped look all over him.” I countered.

My tea was cold so I gulped it down. Narrowing my eyes, as my head was filled with a million thoughts of how I am going to tell Sianna.

No matter what Curtis' choice was, Sianna had the right to get some signals first. I took out my phone and started texting her.

My friend deserved to know the truth.
