Chapter 2 His Love, Their Problem. Sophia

"WHAT the hell does that your Sophia girl has that no other woman on this planet earth has for goodness sake? What?", Lady Frances Escobar ranted at Oswald as he angrily got up from his seat in the dining and walked out on his parents, leaving his food half eaten.

They got up and followed him, leaving their food as well, out into the living room, both shouting and ranting at him.

It was evening, and he had just honoured their dinner invitation which they have been inviting him over for two weeks now.

Now, he had finally chosen to honour the invitation and come over, they wouldn't let him have his meal in peace, they keep on shouting and complaining over one thing, an issue, his woman, his choice of woman.

And this was actually the exact reason he had been declining their dinner invitation, he knew it was nothing but this.

Sophia.

Sophia was the best thing that has ever happened to him since the past few months they have come to know each other. She was his world, his heartbeat, his all and all.

It had remained a secret relationship, Sophia had wanted that, nobody knew they were dating except the both of them, but not until weeks ago, he decided to let the cat out of the bag.

His parents wouldn't want to hear of it, the society, the people. Although, he never cares about the people, his utmost concern was his parents, he had thought they would accept her the way he did, but they didn't.

They had instead said she was cursed, her family was cursed, and besides, she is of a low life, not classy and expensive enough to be called Oswald Dino Escobar's wife.

His made was made up, he doesn't care, and would never care who accepts his woman or not. It was Sophia or no other.

"Can't you just leave this lady alone? What love portion has she given to you?", it was Lord Dino Escobar this time, his father.

Oswald winced and halted in his tracks, he was actually going out of the house, and straight to his car, but he just had to stop, to give them reasons, tangible reasons why he chose his Sophia over every other lady.

He turned to them.

"Mum, Dad…", he called, "I am literally tired of repeating myself over and over again on one issue…", they stood, with his mother standing arms akimbo, listening to him.

"... it is either Sophia or no other. Oswald has spoken", he said and was about walking away when his mother halted him.

"Then it would be over my dead body, son, be prepared to pack my body to the morgue, if you bring in that cursed woman from a cursed family into this family, be prepared", she said.

What! He slowly turned to her. Has it gotten to that? Death. He sighed.

"What exactly do you both don't like about my woman? Why do you both hate her this way?", he asked.

His mother drew closer to him, and then took his right hand in hers.

"Son", she called softly, "that lady is cursed, her family is cursed, bad luck follows her like a companion, you need to stay away from her, so you don't get infested with her curse and bad luck", she said in a low soft voice.

Slowly, he removed his hand from hers.

"Seriously mum, how? You still haven't answered this question I have been asking for weeks, how is she cursed?", he asked.

His father came closer.

"Must you know how before you choose to listen to us? She is an orphan, an only child, and it isn't news anymore that she killed her parents. You just have to listen to us Oswald and stop questioning your parents", he said and clapped his hands with a loud thud.

Oswald shook his head sideways. Yeah, yeah they had been a speculation that went round months ago, that his Sophia killed her parents when she was young.

They had both died in an airplane crash, during a summer vacation in which they had left Sophia behind with an aunt, her mum's younger sister.

Not only that, Sophia was also a sick lad. From the time she was born, it had been one sickness or the other, not until when she turned twenty, that the sickness subsided.

Now following all these, why wouldn't people say she is cursed and always accompanied with bad luck?

But Oswald was certain, he was sure that she didn't kill her parents, it was just an accident. And as for her being ill, it was normal with some children. So, he never bothered, he loves her and that's the ultimate.

"She is a good girl Dad, very economical, decent, sweet, intelligent, simple, a home builder. Infact…", he paused and looked at them in their faces, "she possess all the qualities I want in a woman", he concluded, then turned to leave.

His mother followed him as he went, talking.

"You lie son, you lie. You would never marry that girl, never. Not when I am still very much alive…", she continued ranting, following him.

Oswald shook his head in disappointment, he never expected this from them, his parents? No, he never did.

Well learned and highly respected in the society? Highly rated? Never, he never expected it from them.

As soon as he got outside, his guard standing by the door immediately followed him behind.

He angrily walked briskly towards the black coloured Toyota RAV4 which was parked adjacent the mansion, and the guard came forward and opened it.

He entered and the guard closed the door, went to the front seat and entered as well.

Then the driver revved the car into motion, and they zoomed off.
