Chapter 6 Call Me Moore
"Hold up!"
Elsie's voice cut through the tension like a knife.
Everyone froze. The new CEO was a hardass, despite her Moore family background, and they had just witnessed Daniel back down during their confrontation.
It was rare for Daniel to back down, no matter the reason. So why was Elsie still pushing?
Daniel stopped, a flicker of realization crossing his face. He glanced at Wren beside him, piecing things together.
"Mr. Wilson, you gotta help me. The Moore family has always been on my case, bullying me... It had finally been better..."
Wren's face twisted. She wanted to say things had gotten better since Mia's death, but with Mia's daughter, Elsie, standing there, she couldn't bring herself to say it.
He hesitated, and Elsie's cold laugh pierced the silence: "Better? Keep going!"
The sharp sound of her high heels hitting the floor echoed, each step pounding like a hammer on Wren's heart.
Elsie walked closer, her gaze fixed on her like she was already dead, repeating:
"I said... keep going. Better how?"
Wren glared at her with intense hatred and spat, "Better since your mom died, what's the big deal? I'll say it!"
"When Kai wanted to marry Veda, it wasn't us pushing for it. Mia was always making things hard for Veda. Why can't I say that?"
"Is that so?"
Elsie smirked: "I heard Veda's mom drugged both Veda and Kai, and their relationship only heated up after that."
She clapped her hands, pretending to have an epiphany: "No wonder, no wonder. Veda learned some tricks from her mom and planned to use them on Jada..."
Elsie ruthlessly exposed Veda's dirty secrets in front of everyone.
She was fearless. If she had to be scared of Veda's lackeys, how could she avenge Veda and her father Kai, who had driven her out of the Thomas Villa?
Daniel's face darkened. Elsie was clearly referring to the night they had been together.
He hadn't expected Elsie, after years of absence, to shift the blame to the Garcia family. His anger simmered.
He had held back because he heard that Elsie had perished in a fire that night. Even seeing her now, he felt a twinge of pity.
"A sharp-tongued woman, are you trying to dodge responsibility after benefiting?"
Wren sneered, glancing sideways at Elsie: "If you hadn't been greedy that night or drank that cocktail of juice and brandy behind Kai's back, you might have seen Mia one last time."
Without a word, Elsie slapped Wren hard!
"This slap is to remind you, from today on, you can't mention my mother's name."
Another slap.
"This one is payback. Now I know who was behind the dirty deeds."
Three years ago, on that night, Elsie, who had been living with Mia, was suddenly notified to attend a meeting Kai had arranged for Jada and Daniel.
Daniel had always been her dream man, appearing in countless dreams. Now she had to watch Kai introduce him to Jada.
It was unfair. In terms of looks and talent, Elsie far surpassed Jada, but she couldn't defy Kai.
Watching them dance, Elsie felt a pang of sadness. She downed her drink and retreated to the guest room to sleep—Kai's house no longer had a room for her.
In a haze, she felt Daniel's hands on her body, his hot lips and tongue entwining with hers. She thought it was a dream.
But it was all a setup.
And Wren knew exactly what she drank that night.
Clearly, Wren had orchestrated it.
Wren was stunned by the two loud slaps. Raised in privilege, she never expected to be humiliated by a junior.
She was momentarily speechless.
Elsie raised her hand high: "The third slap is to tell Veda, I'm back..."
Elsie's right hand didn't land on Wren's face; her wrist was firmly grasped by Daniel.
"That's enough," Daniel said calmly.
But his eyes were filled with disbelief. The once weak Elsie had gained such strength in three years that her wrist power rivaled that of female special forces.
Elsie was equally surprised. Daniel had always appeared gentle, but his strength was formidable, as evidenced by his ability to stop her wrist.
Elsie looked up at Daniel, his brows furrowed, and softly said, "You want to protect her, and I won't let you..."
As she spoke, she raised her left hand, aiming straight for Wren's face.
A louder slap echoed, and Wren fell to the ground, rolling twice, crying loudly.
"Elsie... you...!"
Daniel was truly angry now, pulling Elsie's right wrist forcefully.
He used at least seventy percent of his strength!
Elsie lost her balance, almost falling, but she quickly regained it with a backflip.
Her right leg swung fiercely towards Daniel's neck!
Daniel hadn't expected Elsie to be so agile, instinctively releasing her wrist and blocking with his elbow.
Daniel actually took a step back!
"Mr. Wilson, today I'm telling you I'm no longer a Thomas, I'm a Moore!" Elsie's eyes flashed with concern, but she quickly hid it, speaking coldly.
"Alright, Ms. Moore."
Daniel straightened up, having suffered an earlier setback due to his carelessness, not injury.
"You can fire the marketing team, but Wren is both the HR head and the CFO of PAT Marketing Company. As a board member, I oppose her dismissal. It would impact the Wilson family's profits."
With that, he left the conference room without looking back.
He didn't even acknowledge Wren.
Clearly, he was displeased with Wren's mention of Mia, which was too disrespectful.
Wren stood up shakily, terrified, her pupils dilated, muttering, "I understand, I understand..."
Elsie waved her hand, signaling the meeting's end.
Wren was dazed from the slaps, clearly shocked, but she'd recover. Elsie knew her strength, ensuring no brain damage.
"That night you weren't at the villa, you were at the church. Roy... you were there too..."
Elsie moved like a black lightning bolt, reaching Wren's side.
If she acted again, it would confirm her involvement in the murder that night.
Besides, Daniel had stated that the personnel decision about Wren must be approved by the board.
If she acted here, it would give the board leverage to control PAT Marketing Company.
Elsie whispered in Wren's ear, "The more you know, the faster you die."
