Chapter 4 The First Task After Joining: Firing People!
Elsie didn't even glance at Wren, her face growing darker as she walked step by step towards the office where the moans were coming from.
Wren was startled. How dare this woman call Jerry by his name directly? And how did she know about his relationship with Veda? What was she here for? The CEO's position?
A loud bang.
Elsie kicked the office door open.
No one expected a woman to have such strength!
A naked man was kneeling on the sofa, holding a young woman's legs over his shoulders, thrusting wildly. The tattoo on his back looked terrifying, moving with his motions, like a demon from hell laughing maniacally.
Even though the woman was rolling her eyes and moaning incessantly, his movements never stopped.
A folder flew from Elsie's hand, hitting Jerry squarely on the head.
"Jerry, you have thirty seconds to come out and see me! If you're late by even one second, you can kiss your cock goodbye!"
The room fell silent, no one daring to intervene. Everyone stood frozen like puppets, staring blankly at the scene before them.
The most shocking part was that Jerry, usually known for his fiery temper, didn't get angry. Instead, a hint of fear flashed across his face.
"Close the door! Haven't you seen enough?" Elsie walked out, glaring at Aria, who was standing at the door with a flushed face. "Or are you eager to join the unfinished battle?"
Aria, intimidated by Elsie's presence, instinctively closed the door.
By now, several six-foot security guards had surrounded Elsie.
Elsie glanced at Wren, who looked smug and defiant, humming lightly and shaking her phone provocatively.
"Ma'am, please come with us."
The lead security guard reached out to grab Elsie's shoulder.
With a subtle move, Elsie dodged his hand, swiftly dislocating the guard's wrist with a flick of her right hand.
A painful scream followed.
"How much did the Wilson family pay you to lose your loyalty in these skyscrapers? Open your eyes and see who I am..." Elsie said calmly.
The lead guard looked up, his pupils dilating in shock after a few seconds. "Ms. Moore..."
"Don't call me that, Paxton. We'll talk about your attitude later. Consider yourself lucky I didn't break your wrist."
Paxton, Mia's personal bodyguard, had been out on business the night of the incident, narrowly escaping the disaster. Elsie hadn't expected to see him here.
"Alright, take Paxton to the hospital."
Jerry stormed out of the office, still adjusting his shirt, glancing at the time instinctively.
"Mr. Moore, this woman..."
Wren rushed over, trying to explain.
A slap echoed through the room as Jerry vented his extinguished anger on Wren.
"What woman? Is that how you address her? From today, she is the CEO of PAT Marketing Company."
Jerry's voice rang out, tinged with helplessness. From today, his good days were over.
"Ms. Moore, shall we find a place to talk?" Jerry said, clearly trying to save face in front of everyone.
"Alright, as you wish," Elsie replied.
Jerry tossed the folder Elsie had thrown at him to a bewildered Wren, who barely caught it, almost dropping it. In her haste, a resume fell out, showing Elsie's personal information, including her former name—Elsie Thomas.
Wren slumped to the floor, eyes vacant, cold sweat dripping as she stared at the ceiling, oblivious to the curious gazes around him.
After a moment, Wren snapped back to reality, watching Jerry and Elsie leave. She hurriedly pulled out her phone to make a call.
"Hello? Jada, Elsie is back!"
At the café.
Elegant blue coffee saucers, cups, and delicate copper spoons adorned the table.
Elsie stirred her latte, taking a gentle sip.
"Elsie, it's good that you're here. I can finally put this burden down. You know I'm not good at managing."
"You could've given me a heads-up before coming. Joining the graduates for an interview, really? Or have you taken a liking to pretending to be low-key lately?"
Jerry puffed on his cigar, shrugging, trying to comfort himself. He didn't dare offend Elsie, so he could only ask why she hadn't given him a heads-up. Three years ago, a pregnant Elsie arrived in Silverlight City. The Moore family thought she was a fallen relative, but the once fragile Elsie transformed terrifyingly in just three years.
Her deep scheming and ruthless tactics earned the admiration of the Moore family's leader, who transferred the love meant for his deceased daughter, Mia, to Elsie, supporting her wholeheartedly.
Elsie and Kenna worked together, overpowering all the men in the Moore family. Frankly, the Moore family was now run by women!
"Your PAT Marketing Company is our last asset in Emerald City. Despite being acquired by the Wilson family, you've been too reckless. Do you want the Moore family's last asset in Emerald City to be wiped out?"
Elsie placed the copper spoon gently on the saucer.
Jerry immediately sat up straight, bowing his head.
"Elsie, I know I was wrong. Since you're here, the company will follow your lead."
Elsie's intimidating presence was overwhelming. Over the past three years, Jerry had witnessed countless bloody and brutal scenes, making him too afraid to have any desire for Elsie's stunning face and perfect figure.
"No need. From now on, you are the CEO."
Jerry wanted to say something polite, but stopped when he saw Elsie's displeased expression.
He forced a smile and nodded.
"Although our company was acquired by the Wilson family, I reviewed the acquisition contract. The business should be independent, but over the years, it's become an empty shell."
Elsie paused, glancing at Jerry, who immediately lowered his head.
"The Thomas family has taken control of part of the business. Over the years, the Thomas family and the Wilson family have grown close. Why do you think that is?"
Elsie crossed her legs, revealing the perfect curve of her black-stockinged thighs under her professional skirt. Jerry bowed his head low, like a reprimanded student.
"Maybe... maybe because I'm not familiar with this business, and the Thomas family is experienced in appraisal and auction..."
Jerry stammered.
"Items taken from the dead or stolen from museums, auctioning is just a process to legitimize the money. Are you bad at speaking or bad at bidding?"
Elsie tapped the table, making it clear: "Obviously, the Wilson family wants to hand the business entirely to the Thomas family, but they're held back by their past relationship with the Moore family. Don't you know?"
She stood up. "Notify the core business departments for a meeting in ten minutes."
Jerry hesitated. "Alright, I'll introduce you to everyone."
"Good."
Elsie nodded. "But most importantly, we're firing people!"
