CHAPTER 5
Healing
Sheila's Pov
My head was banging uncontrollably, an excruciating pain and even tearing my eyelids open came with a lot of willpower than necessary.
My eyes fluttered open to see myself in a different room with things I've never seen before or touched.
Where is this place?
My eyes hurt badly as the morning sunlight shone brightly in the room.
I tried to sit up and a sharp pain sent me crying out.
"Ahhh…" A painful grunt escaped my lips.
"How do you feel?"
I turned to the left and found out that I wasn't alone. Here a woman dressed in black and her hair packed in a neat tight bun was stirring something in a bowl. She gave me a reassuring smile and faced her work.
"Better than I felt in days. Where is this place and how long have I been asleep?" My eyes began to roam around the room looking for a clue, anything. My brain began to hurt remembering how I was captured and dumped in a carcass infested dungeon and thenHim.
Tagon.
He came and made a deal with me.
"You are in White Peak Mountain Pack and you have been asleep for three days. You were brought here unconscious by the Alpha king and he instructed that I get you treated urgently. Is there anything you wish to know?" The woman stared at my wounds for seconds and nodded to nothing in particular and stood up.
"No." I blurted.
"Your wounds are healing rapidly and a few days from now your bones will feel stronger. I cooked a healthy broth you'll be served twice daily to give you enough strength and regenerate your mind. I'll leave you now."
She turned around and made her way to the door and soon the sound of her shoes were resounding from a distance.
The broth was served in a wooden bowl and scooping spoon which wasn't far off on a table. I reached for it and with one gulp almost spat it out.
"Disgusting!" I half yelled pushing the broth back on the table and throwing the spoon to the floor. It tasted worse than death. My eyes gazed on my legs, my arms and the pain I felt before was no longer burning. I just felt a light sting and my head hurts a little.
Sleeping for three days wasn't what I imagined to happen so many questions plagued my senses. What would Tagon be thinking?
How long has he been waiting for me? Has he done anything to my mother to get back at me? Did he ever lose hope while I was unconscious and in my sleep? How long will this game between us go on?
So many questions plagued my mind as I tried not thinking of anything.
My finger trailed my neck and I felt a collar around my neck. My body began to shake as a tear slipped through my eye. No, I can't live like this. I could get rid of the collar.
I lazily pushed my body out of bed, my legs felt wobbly but it wasn't hurting. A long length mirror stood at the corner of the room. My eyes had black circles around it, my clothes were changed to a white long satin gown, my hair was scattered and needed a nice tending but all that didn't matter. My skin was neat, devoid of the mud, dungeon smell and sweat. The woman who left must have washed me clean and changed me into new clothes.
"No one is here I… I can run.. but what about mother?"
I can't leave my mother under captivity, to save my mother's life I have to pretend to be a fool and trick him once again to get her out of this place and once that's done we will go far away where he can never find us.
"Sheila!"
That voice. I turned to see him standing at the mouth of the door, the woman earlier didn't close the door and I didn't shut it either. Tagon's eyes were blazing with anger and unbeknownst to me my hands were tugging at the collar.
"Don't you know how to greet your Alpha? Have you grown so disobedient?!" He thundered.
"Morning your highness." I said quickly getting my hands off the collar and bowed my head slightly. He took steps towards my direction and the fluffing of his voluminous apparel swept the floor as he walked.
"The herbalist informed me of your consciousness you passed out for three days. Can you tell me why this happened?"
"Ugh… uh… I." My voice lacked the right words.
"Look up while talking. I want you to see me eye to eye and I don't want you to forget even a tiny bit what I'm capable of."
"Yes your Highness."
"So tell me why did you pass out for so long?"
"I have no idea but I feel exhausted, that's my only reason."
"Exhaustion? You were locked up, not overworked, Sheila?" The way he called my name the way it rolled from his tongue always has my heart beating nonstop so loud I can't hear a thing.
"I don't know the reason I fell asleep for long I just found out."
"Are you pregnant?"
My eyes widened in shock.
"It isn't so!"
"It isn't what? I wasn't the one who ran away and got a fairytale marriage. If I find out you're pregnant you'll suffer a fate much worse than death and the man who did I'd find him and give him a befitting death! Is there no level of betrayal you can't go, slave?"
It's no use explaining anything to him, he will always fault me and think the worst. I'd keep my secrets to my grave.
"Have you had your broth?" He asked as he saw the untouched meal.
"No." It came out in a tiny whisper.
"Why so?" His voice boomed.
"It tastes horrible." I defended myself.
"Sheila, go over to that bed and sit up, you're having your first meal in three days."
"But…"
"Don't make me use force on you. I can have you whipped mercilessly for your disobedience. Whatever I say you must do. Do you realize this collar doesn't just signify your status as a lowly slave that collar justifies Me. You're to do whatever I wish and command and failure to do so your head will be hanging on a spike and don't think of getting that collar off your neck you can't I'd love to see you try but the more you try to get rid of it the more it'll continue to hurt you and make you bleed till you die." He began to encircle around where I stood as goosebumps began to pop up on my skin, the fear of his chilling voice melting me down.
"That's a customized collar with your Initial 'S' and a broken heart engraved in it. I had been waiting for this day for years. A day to put that on you, to show you who is master. It isn't like the other collars, it's special."
He stopped and caught a strand of my hair fondling it with his fingers. His eyes are empty. I can't read a single thing or guess his moves.
I swallowed and what he did next shocked me further.
"Alpha…"
He carried me in his arms with no cares as he strode to the bed, gently placed me on it, pushed back to where the bowl of broth was kept and picked it while stirring the soup.
"My little doll you have no say in what goes on in your life. The meal you eat, the water you drink and everything that concerns you. Soon you'll realize there's no escaping me in this life or in the next if there's ever a second lifetime. Now will you eat up?"
"Yes."
Tagon scooped one spoon and brought it closer to my lips. My resistance was breaking off and I opened and took it in. It tasted too herbal and bitter but that was the beginning. He made sure I finished every content in the bowl and when he was done my eyes began to grow weak.
The room began to twirl in my vision and my eyes closed but my senses were still sharp as I felt him move closer and wrapped his huge arms around me.
"Sheila, rest your head and heal properly. I hate easy games. I want you strong and at your best when my great fury comes and would love to see how you fight back."
His finger slid to my collar touching it slightly. "I can't believe you're here with me in my arms and my Pack. I've obsessed over this to a point of madness, wanting you, seeing your face every day I wake up, but you never wanted the love I showered on you. You took me for granted, threw my love and stabbed my heart with your dagger of betrayal. You created this monster, Sheila and he wants his pound of flesh and he's going to burn anyone who gets in his way.." The last words I heard before feeling his lips brush against mine in a feather like manner and it registered he was kissing me.
The room, Tagon and my senses went blank as I slipped into nothingness.
