Ch.3 "Graduation Day!"

Hayes P.O.V.

Fuck! I can't believe I kissed the weak human! I was screaming inside my mind. I should never have touched and kissed the little pest! I had always known she was my mate since I first laid eyes on her back when she moved here.

When I was walking away, it was the hardest thing I had to do because I wanted to take her right there, up against my locker. I don't know how many times I took girls there in the dark shadows.

I got the best place in the school, I thought with a cocky smirk. But I know I have been with another female wolf. Nothing will be the same when you're with your mate; what I've heard from everyone is finding their soulmate, better half, and mate. But damn her eyes. I remember the look on their faces when we first met...

"Six Years Ago, the first day I saw her..."

I was outside playing basketball with my buddies when she walked out the door, and I saw her beautiful face and smile. It stopped me in my tracks when I smelt this fantastic scent coming next door.

Apples!

I love apples.

They are my favorite fruit besides strawberries.

I do like them! I thought with a smug smile.

But then I was too caught up thinking about Apples and strawberries. I didn't hear my friends talking and yelling at me.

I was standing there quietly, not bouncing the ball, when suddenly.

I didn't care because a golden princess was standing over the other side of my yard, smiling and playful, laughing at something her mom said. I could not keep my eyes off it.

"Hayes! man, past the ball." I heard Bryan say. I know he and James were probably standing there staring at me, and now over at her, just like I am. I felt my fist roll up in my hand.

I was getting angry at my friends because they were probably looking over at her. I didn't like it.

I know; I felt angry if they were looking over at her, and my head was going crazy with so many evil thoughts.

Watch out; they want your girl? You'd better watch out; they're probably thinking about hugging and kissing her, too.

I kept hearing in my head. The inner voice can be cruel and put you down at times.

Mine!

Mine!

She is mine!

"Hey! I heard Bryan yell at me.

I turned my head at him.

Whoa, dude, what's wrong with you?" He looked at me strangely.

I guess they didn't see who I was looking at?

Good, I won't let them.

But that all changed when I heard James say.

Whoa! Who is that?" I turned, and I was staring at him.

No! Stop it!" I bark out.

"Okay, dude!" You don't have to bite our heads off!" he holds up his hands.

"Just passed the ball to Bryan so we could keep playing?" He told me, staring at me with a worried and annoying look on his face.

I didn't even look over at him when I passed the ball.

He got it.

I could hear him bouncing the ball.

But when I looked back over, I saw this blonde-headed tiny girl with short stubby legs and bright blue eyes, in a pink summer dress with curls down her back, smiling up at a woman; she reminded me of Goldilocks and the three bears, my mom used to read to me as a child. Then I saw her mother!

They were both beautiful, like a princess and a queen! But I didn't know her mother, and my mothers and hers were best friends from college, where my mom had gone before she met my father. She went into Nursing because she wanted to help people, and that is when she met my father.

He got hurt by hunters, and my mom fixed him up in the hospital where she worked. They have now been together for some time.

So, Mrs. Heather Waters, that's my mother's best friend's name, when my mom told me last night that we were getting new neighbors, and this lady was her best friend's name, Heather Waters! The strangest part? I didn't see a father or husband when I was staring over at them.

I heard my mom tell my dad about him running off.

That's the rumors around town that he r.a.n. o.f.f. with a younger, more beautiful woman. Wow, that's just rumors, for now! I rolled my eyes.

So, I watched this girl and felt something for her, but what was it? She was standing in the sunlight, so happy and twirling around, and I saw her playfully shove her mother.

Then I saw her mother give her a severe look on her face with her hands on her hips. Then I saw a mouth turn up into a smile.

I heard her voice. She let out a giggle, and they were both laughing.

I saw her mother grab her and hug her.

I was finding myself smiling ear to ear.

I wanted to go over there and hug her and kiss her, too.

What? Why did I say that inside my mind?

Huh, I am confused? I need to talk to my father about how I am feeling right now, starting over at this golden princess.

Huh, why am I feeling this way?

So, when I speak to my father about this, I may learn something about the feelings I experienced inside my stomach, which was warm all over, and I felt like I had butterflies. I hope he tells me.

I heard about things like this, but I mean.

Could it be?

Could this have happened early for someone when you're this young?

I mean, I am thirteen years old. I always heard you don't find your partner until you are sixteen or older.

But did I find my soulmate?

My Mate?

Could this beautiful golden girl be mine!

That was when I knew she was my mate.

Wow, I got a beautiful mate! I was smiling.

Wow, she will be a strong Luna, just like my grandmother and mother, and it makes me proud to know she will be like them.

Kind.

Strong.

Loving.

Beautiful.

A wonderful mother to my pups!

I felt a deep sense of pride knowing that my mate and I would love her for the rest of our lives. I was about to walk over closer when I sniffed the air and knew it was different.

I have never smelled that scent before. However, only one person did, and that was my grandfather.

It was sweeter, and I couldn't quite put my finger on what else.

When my grandfather told me he once ventured out into the world beyond our safe bubble here in Fort Orgeron.

That was the smell he told me he heard in the stories his father and mother told him.

Humans!

That was when I realized that the girl was a human, her kind, that's an evil monster that wanted to kill us!

So, she is the enemy, and that enemy is my mate! That was when I promised myself that I would make her life a living hell just like her ancients did to us!

Graduation...

"Congratulations, class of Two Thousand and Twenty-Two!" I am so proud of you, ladies and gentlemen, for passing your lessons and classes to achieve your current status.

Graduating." Mr. Stewart said.

"So, here they are, audiences, Senior class for one last time!"

The Wild Cougars!" Class of Two thousand and ten," he said, clapping his hands with the stands.

We threw our hats in the air, and I watched them fly down slowly in the different colors of red and gold. I walked over to it when mine hit the ground.

As I walked towards my family, I looked over and saw Gracie, the girl I love to tease and bully, and hate because I can't have her.

I could see the happiest in her face when she was hugging her mother and my sister Jade. I shook my head, watching the girl I wanted to be mine, but I couldn't. Because I am a monster and monsters don't get the girl, the one in the end dies when her prince charming comes and saves her from guys like me.

They run off and live happily ever after. I thought with an eye roll, with a mocking expression on my face.

I sighed and looked at her one more time.

So, that was going to be the last time I would ever see her because I applied to college a hundred miles away, so I could keep her safe from me.
