Chapter 3

David

Stormy let out a breath she seemed to be holding when David didn’t react to her kissing Daniel. She touched Daniel’s face softly, she pointed to his mouth and made the biting motion of the spot where her mating mark would go. She bit her lip and waited

“I think she wants you to try again to verbally claim her.” David suggested as he responded to a hunch.

Daniel kissed Stormy’s head softly. “Mate!” He said with a shy smile.

Again David heard her speak in a very far off whisper almost as if it were being carried by the wind. “Mate.”

He jumped a little when he felt his emotional bond with her expand and connect with his brother. He let out a sigh of acceptance as he realized that whatever fate had determined for his future, it was now connected to Daniel.

Stormy hugged them both and she pointed to the center of the room where people were dancing. David grabbed one hand and Daniel followed them as the led her out into the center of the ballroom.

David took her right hand and wrapped the other around her waist. Stormy placed her left hand on his shoulder. Daniel walked behind her and mirrored her pose so that they clasped her right hand between their fingers. He placed his other hand just above David’s on her waist creating a strong muscled cage around her. David took the lead and they began to waltz around the room.

Stormy took the hand on his shoulder, pointed to his head and drew a question mark on David’s chest. She looked up at him expectantly.

“Are you asking me to tell you about myself?” David asked with a raised eyebrow.

She nodded her head emphatically.

“What do you want to know?” David asked her.

Stormy opened the palm of her right hand and used her left to make a tiny circle before placing against her other palm, back to front.

David shook his head and frowned. “I didn’t understand that one.” Part of him wondered why she didn’t just ask him, but somehow, he knew deep in his heart that Stormy spent most of her time speaking with her hands or expressions.

She bit bottom lip as she thought. Suddenly she smiled again. She made the same gesture again that he didn't understand, then wildly began to point at everything in the room.

“Everything? Oh, you want to know everything about me.” He said feeling a bit foolish that he hadn’t instantly understood what she wanted. He also felt a bit flattered that she seemed more interested in getting to know him rather than in speaking about herself.

“What about me?” Daniel said coyly from behind her. His voice was husky. She nodded her head and pointed to him as well with a happy hop in her step. She put her hand of against his chest and leaned in so she could lightly run her nose over the fabric.

“Let’s see, things you should know about me.” David said.

“I love learning about history and to travel. My favorite color was blue until I saw you in that yellow dress.” He told her with a naughty smirk.

Stormy pointed to herself and nodded. She turned over her shoulder and pointed to Daniel. She raised her eyebrow and waited expectantly.

“I love going to the gym and working out. I like to play human video games. I’m not really a people person. My favorite color is dark red.” Daniel told her. He leaned in and sniffed her again. “Everything about you is driving me wild.”

Stormy bit her lip. She nodded her head and placed the tips of her fingers on her left hand against the palm of her right hand. She gave a curt nod that people often used to urge someone to go on.

“More?” David copied the gesture she made. “That means more.”

She smiled and nodded again. He could tell it made her happy that he was beginning to understand.

David leaned down near her ear and whispered. “I’ll be sure to remember that one. I think My Sweet will be using it a lot.” He winked at her seductively.

Stormy bit her bottom lip and chuckled silently. She smiled at him so sweetly that he couldn’t help but want to tell her everything about himself.

“I have a castle in the heart of my kingdom. My favorite room is the library. After the party, I will fly you there. By dragon path it’s about an hour from here.” He told her as her eyes again became huge.

Daniel eyes hardened as he glared at David. He shook his head no but David shrugged. It has been many years since any dragon had dared to bare rider. It was considered undignified. He could tell that Daniel was not okay with his plan. But Stormy seemed to be so fascinated with learning things about them, she didn't seem to notice their exchange.

“More” Stormy said with her hands as she pointed to Daniel.

“I like to old human war stories, and I love the feel of the wind on my scales when I fly. My favorite room in the castle is the solarium, but I prefer to be outside.” Daniel said as he nuzzled her neck.

David tried to ignore the bulge in his pants and the deep ache in his teeth as Stormy pointed to him indicating it was his turn to tell her more.

“When I’m alone, my guilty pleasures are reading books in the hot tub, human cooking shows and zombie movies.”

Stormy began to bounce happily in his arms. She put both her arms around his neck and hugged him.

“That’s the stuff you want to know isn’t it? My favorite color, foods I like and such?” He said with a raised eyebrow. In all his life he couldn’t think of a single person who wanted to know those things. Most wanted to know what it was like to be king.

She nodded empathically again. “More” she signed happily. She pointed to Daniel.

“My favorite food is cheese, I put it on everything.” Daniel said and David noticed that Stormy wrinkled her nose in disgust. She pointed to David.

“Let’s see, I like mutton, with rosemary and fresh venison.” He explained as she lit up. “What about you? We also want to know about you. So when we tell you about something we like, you tell us something you like.”

She nodded happily and grabbed his hand. She led them from the dance floor and to the large buffet. She dragged them past the succulent meats, past the crusty breads and beyond the pastries. Instead she pointed to a simple bowl of fruit.

“Your favorite food is fruit?” Daniel said with a questioning eyebrow. She clapped her hands and bounced excitedly.

David realized he was getting into her game quickly. She was like a puzzle that was begging to be solved. He watched as she walked over to the buffet and picked up a handful of carrots and a few celery sticks.
