Chapter 2

Having Ryan so close to me was making me nervous. My palms started to sweat and my heart was beating rapidly.

I wasn’t going to lie, the feeling of his strong hands touching me was intoxicating. The smell of his cologne filled my nose and I closed my eyes, inhaling deeply.

I opened my eyes and looked back into his. The way they were twinkling right now, had me completely mesmerized. I bit my bottom lip and felt my heart flutter. He leaned closer to me.

“I don’t think we should be doing this,” I said looking around nervously.

Jason had warned me about his brother. He always talked about him like he was a bad guy. A player. That he would break your heart and leave you alone forever if you got too close to him.

He cupped my cheek with one hand while the other slid up my neck until it rested on my shoulder. His fingers gently rubbed my skin as he looked into my eyes. He moved even closer to me, our faces inches apart.

“Are you that scared of my brother, Jason?” he asked.

“No…Not exactly,” I replied.

“He must have told you something about me. I can see you’re battling inside yourself whether or not to let loose with me,” he whispered.

My breathing picked up as his lips moved closer to my ear. I could feel his hot breath against my skin, making me shiver with excitement.

“Well then, tell me,” he said.

“He said you were bad,” I replied softly.

“Bad? Is that all he said about me?” He chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eye.

“I guess,” I muttered.

“Is there anything else?” he asked.

“Umm, he also said you are a huge player. And that you broke hearts for a living.” I answered. My cheeks turned red.

A slight grin formed on his lips as he let out a little laugh.

“I wouldn’t say I am a big player. Just a little bit of fun here and there. I did get my fair share of broken hearts over the years though. Maybe more than a few, but I always left them all with something. Whether it was a smile or just an unforgettable night. I really couldn’t care less if they stayed brokenhearted, as long as they thought of me every time they thought about their ex.”

I gulped, trying to keep my composure. I couldn’t believe I was having this type of conversation with Ryan. I couldn’t believe I was even standing there despite how extremely attractive he looked.

What happened to the wallflower in me? I mean, I wasn’t confident at the moment but at the same time I wasn’t cowering either.

My lips were pursed together as Ryan continued to speak to me. He was clearly admitting that he was a ‘player.’

But on the other hand, I could tell he wasn’t trying to hurt me… Or maybe I was just a naive little boy who hadn’t been with any guy before and wanted to be with the first one that made him feel special. Yeah, that was probably it.

“You know, I love boys like you,” Ryan said gazing at me with a smirk.

“Boys like me?” I asked tilting my head.

“Yes, good boys. Boys that are a lot smarter than they seem to give themselves credit for. Boys who deep down just want to be noticed by someone. Who got a side of them no one knows about. They try to hide it, but I know the real you. I see it in your eyes. You don’t have to pretend with me. I see right through you, Liam,” he explained.

The way he said my name sent shivers throughout my body. I could feel myself heating up by the second. My mouth hung dry, unable to respond. Even though the air was chilly, Ryan was making me feel warm inside.

“I…uhm…I think I need to go home now,” I stuttered, breaking eye contact with him. I couldn’t handle being in his presence any longer.

Ryan let out a little sigh. “If you want to keep running away from me, I will respect that decision. But I am warning you, if you turn and walk away right now, you won’t see me again. I promise you that.”

I stood there for a moment contemplating my options. I knew Jason was right. Ryan was trouble. He wasn’t the type of guy I should be getting involved with. His tattoos, his piercings, his leather jacket, his confidence; it was all too overwhelming. But at the same time I didn’t want to stop feeling this way.

Just having him beside me was thrilling. I wanted to find out what it felt like to have his arms wrapped around me, to be kissed by him. I didn’t care about any consequence that might come after. All I wanted was him.

I hadn’t had any fun my whole life and maybe doing this may expose me to some new experiences and open me up to the world, I tried to convince myself.

“So what do you say, Whyte?” he whispered.

My heart was pounding so fast I thought it was going to jump right out of my chest. I was unsure of what he meant, but I knew that I didn’t want to say no. I wanted to give it a try. Maybe it was the rush of adrenaline coursing through my body, or maybe it was the alcohol, but I decided to give in to temptation.

“I say yes,” I said stepping forward and pressing my lips against his. Ryan pulled me into him and kissed me passionately.

He slid his hand under my hair and threw his other arm around my waist. For a brief minute, everything seemed to be perfect. I could feel myself floating away from reality. I was lost in his arms.

When our lips finally parted, I felt a tingling sensation run through me. It was warm and I knew instantly that I wanted more. Ryan's hands were still on either side of my face and he was staring at me with lustful hunger.

“Tomorrow night, 8pm sharp. Meet me at this spot.”
