Fifteen Years Ago
“Hurry, Bell hurry, we're running out of time. We have to go now or it’s too late.”
Henry urged attempting to block his feelings and keeping his voice strong and steady. But I understood exactly what he felt. It shot through the mate bond. I felt the same.
Grabbing Aurora as quickly as possible I swaddle her in a little crescent moon blanket, not forgetting to put the bracelet around her. It’s too small now to fit on her wrist, so I placed it around her ankle.
We had our witch friend Lola cast down an enchantment onto the bracelet in order to keep Aurora safe and invisible to the werewolf world and our enemies.
Our enemies sensed an heir was born and that was our daughter and they were coming for her.
We may be the king and the queen of the werewolves, but our love for our daughter will never change. The banging on the door got louder as time went on.
My mate Henry opened the passage door for us to escape. We knew the door behind us wouldn’t stay for much longer.
The rogues have already made it through the first line of defense, as well as the second. There were said to be thousands of them. We had to go now there was no other choice.
We ran through the castle, tunnels, passageways that only some knew about, they took us underground through the castle walls, dark and musky, but thanks to our wolf senses we could see in the dark so we knew exactly where we were going.
Hearing the howls and all the growls and the growing smell of blood, that made us run even quicker. We made it out of the passage in the dead of the night in just a few minutes.
The growls and howls of our enemies grew closer. We both sensed we weren't going to make it. A rogue snipped at my ankle. Making me fall to the ground with Aurora but Henry was fast.
He shifted into his dark as night wolf Hercules. Jumping over me, his teeth bearing, they clamped over the rogue's neck.
And within a second, you heard a painful howl and a snap. The rogue was dead. But there was still more to come.
Henry looked dead in my eyes and I knew what he was about to say. The mind link opened while he was still in wolf form.
“My queen I need you to go. I need you to go now and take our daughter somewhere safe. Do not let them find her.”
I look at him with tears in my eyes. Lilly howls through the link at her mate and protector, wanting to protect him.“ I can’t leave you Henry. They’re going to kill you.”
“Go now Bell, keep our daughter safe. I love you, my baby girl I always have and I always will so go Bell don’t look back and do not stop.”
With tears in my eyes, I look at him and nod my head in understanding. Knowing that this may be the last time I ever see him again. “I love you too my sweet king, may we meet again.”
Holding Aurora close to my chest I take off running again at full speed. Thanks to Lily's werewolf ability. Suddenly that's when I felt it. The bond, it snapped. Lily howled out in pain.
Tears roll down my cheek, and my heart feels like it’s breaking into but we must keep going. We somehow managed to outrun the rest. We ran all the way to Silver Creek town in North Carolina.
I come across a quiet little neighbourhood where I can sense the couple that’s inside.
They live in a moderate home with a nice yard and I can sense no bad energy comes from them. Just a sweet loving couple that adore each other.
Knowing that the time has come, I have to do the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I place Aurora down on the steps wrapped in her little crescent moon blanket with her bracelet on her ankle.
Laying the note over top of her. Giving her one last kiss. “Aurora, I love you to the goddess of the moons and back.
I’ll never forget you, my sweet child.” She just looks up at me and smiles with those ocean blue eyes.
I frantically ring the doorbell, giving my daughter one last look. “I love you my sweet child.” Then I turn around and disappear in the dead of the night behind a tree.
Standing there for only a few minutes just to make sure Aurora stays safe. A beautiful woman opens the door.
She looks around and then finally looks down at my daughter carefully picking her up. She reads the note and yells for someone named Christian.
With my Wolf lily’s hearing, I am able to hear everything. “Christian come here, my love there’s something I need to show you come quick hurry.” The lady frantically says
A tall gentleman appears that I assume is Christian. His eyes are wide as could be while he looks down at what the woman is holding.
They both look around outside just to see if there’s anyone around before the guy cradles both the woman and Aurora in his arms and they disappear behind the door.
“Goodbye, my sweet girl until we meet again.” I whisper to the wind turning around. I take off once again through the night and never look back.
