Mine
Sophie's point of view
“Sophie…” Liam’s voice pulled me back to reality, the harshest reality of my life. “Meet my brother, Lucas,” Liam smiled.
My thoughts spun out of control as I struggled to process Liam’s words: the man I slept with yesterday was none other than my brother-in-law.
What? Oh my goodness!
H… How is it even possible?
How can I face him now if he discovered that I cheated on him… not with just anyone, but with his brother?
My forehead felt hot, and my heart was pounding against my chest.
“Sister-in-law…”
My eyes widened as I saw him now standing in front of me, his lips curled into a smirk.
He extended his hand toward me for a handshake.
I swallowed and reached out to his hand; an electric jolt shot through me as my hand made contact with his. “Not bad, Liam. Your wife is absolutely stunning.” I quickly withdrew my hand, struggling to maintain a straight face. Liam chuckled as he walked over to me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders.
“I told you so; my wife is the most beautiful woman on this planet.”
My chest tightened. I wish I could tell him the truth right now. Maybe he might forgive me, but will he still stay with me?
No, if his brother doesn't tell him the truth, then I should just remain silent. I don't want to create any conflicts between them, nor do I want to lose Liam.
“Come on, let's have breakfast before the food gets cold.” I nodded quietly as Liam led me to the table. He pulled out a chair for me, and I sat down with him next to me, while his brother sat opposite us.
“So, sister-in-law, what do you do for a living?” His eyes locked with mine, amusement sparkling in them.
I cleared my throat, trying hard to maintain a straight face.
“I own a couple of hotels in Cape Island and overseas. You might say I'm a businesswoman.”
My heart raced as I tried to avert my gaze from him, but he wouldn’t allow it.
His stare was so intense that it felt as if he were peering right through my soul, undressing me with his eyes. His piercing gaze caressed my skin, and the memories of the night before began to replay in my mind, his touch still vividly lingering on my skin.
The shrill sound of a ringing phone jolted me back to reality, a warmth spreading across my skin.
Liam grasped his phone from the table and quickly answered it, bringing the device to his ear.
His eyes widened as he quickly rose from the chair. “Sophie, I'm really sorry about this, my love, but I have to go; this is very important.” With that, he rushed to the sitting room, grasped his car keys, and left the house, leaving me with his brother.
“Umm… Enjoy your breakfast.“I quickly rose off the chair, my movement hurried. “I will be going to the office…“
With that, I started making my way upstairs, leaving him seated at the table alone.
I shut the door to my room, leaning against it, my heart now pounding.
I just wish someone could come here and tell me this was all a nightmare and none of it was real!
What the heck?
How can I cheat on my newlywed husband, and that too with his brother? How can I tell Liam the truth? Just how the heck can I tell him the truth?
I ran my hands through my hair, frustration coursing through me. It was all his fault; he pushed me into making this horrible decision. Had he stayed at home, none of this could have happened, and now I've put my feet in the bottle with no way out.
I should pull myself together. Maybe I'm just overthinking this whole thing. Maybe he doesn't even remember what happened last night.
“Pull yourself together and breathe, Sophie.“I muttered to myself.
I exhaled deeply, trying to pull myself together.
With that, I made my way to the closet. I thought that Liam was going to be home with me; that's why I canceled going to work, but now there's no way I'm going to be here with my so-called brother-in-law. I'd rather spend my day at work.
I walked across the room, heading to my closet, and bringing out my formal suit and my heels, I let my dress slide on the floor as I prepared to get changed, but the door to my room swung open, and my eyes widened to see Lucas walking in. He closed the door behind him, his eyes landing on mine.
“What are you doing here?“I swallowed the lump forming in my throat, instinctively trying to cover my body with my hand.
Lucas sneered; my pulse was racing beneath my skin with each step he took towards me, his gaze intense on mine.
My throat constricted as he grabbed both my hands, pinning them against the walls, and my body collided with the walls.
“Sophie.“My breath came out in short gasps as he leaned closer to my ears, whispering my name. It sounded like the most lovely music I've ever heard.
“I told you last night, didn't I? Once I fucked you, you'd belong only to me.“His voice now lowered, his warm breath caressing my skin, shame and desire mingled hot in my throat, and I gulped painfully hard.
“Please stop. I'm a married woman, your brother's wife.“I stammered, forcing words out of my mouth.
He chuckled softly, his lips now brushing against my neck. “You were married yesterday too, right?“
He retorted.
A moan escaped my lips as he placed a hot, trailing kiss on my neck before he slammed his lips against mine. As much as I wanted to push him away, I found myself returning his kiss.
Liam’s smiling face flashed in my brain, and I quickly pushed him away. A heat spread between my legs, my breath now coming in short gasps.
“What happened yesterday was a mistake; please stay away from me.“I spoke between my pants; my heart was banging against my chest.
