Cheated

Sophie's Point of View

The morning sunlight pierced my eyelids, jolting me awake. I winced as a sharp pain cut through between my legs, and my head was throbbing so hard, I lifted my hand to it, smoothing it gently.

My brows furrowed as I scanned my surroundings. The walls were painted white, and white curtains hung by a small nightstand.

My eyes widened at the sight of his toned back glistening in the sunlight, his dark hair cascading down.

My heart raced against my chest as I looked at myself. My body was entangled in white sheets with no clothes on, and the memories of the night before started flashing back into my brain like the scariest horror movie I've ever watched.

Coldness hit my core as the realization of the situation set in. I slept with a stranger last night. I had cheated on my husband before we could even have our first night together. I had given my virginity to a total stranger.

A knot twisted in my stomach, regret washing over me. How could I do such a thing to Liam? I understand he mistreated me last time, and he hadn't come home for the past week, but that doesn't give me the right to cheat on him, right?

I blinked back the tears welling in my eyes. I rose off the bed, taking the sheets with me as they covered my naked body.

My dress was torn into pieces, and my shoes and bag were scattered on the ground.

I swallowed hard as I leaned on the floor, grabbing my pants and bra and putting them on.

I walked over to the closet and swung it open. Sighing at the sight of the female clothes, I quickly grabbed a black dress and put it on along with some shoes.

I brought out a few notes of rands from my bag and placed them on the nightstand. Before I could make my way out, my hand was grasped, stopping me from taking another step.

“Were you planning to leave without saying goodbye?” His voice was low and husky, his green eyes lazily locking with mine. My jaws clenched, my heart pounding in my chest.

“Listen here, I've paid you, so I don't see why I should say goodbye to you.” I threw a sharp glare at him. “And what happened last night should stay between us.”

With that, I pushed his hand away before I stormed out of the room.

It poured as I stepped outside. I wasted no time making my way to the parking lot. As I reached there, I got inside my car and drove off.

In less than an hour, I was already home. A guard rushed over to me with an umbrella, walking beside me and covering me with it. I thanked him as I reached inside the house.

I was welcomed with a delicious aroma of breakfast. I frowned as my eyes landed in the dining room. The maid took my coat and handbag as I made my way to the table.

A lump formed in my throat as my eyes settled on Liam, who was setting the table. He turned to look at me.

“Good morning, Sophie,” he greeted, his tone soft like it used to be before, his eyes flickering with regret. “I'm really sorry about that day. I was drunk, and work was right on my neck. My boss wouldn't allow me to come home, and I ended up venting my frustration on you.”

My eyes burned with unshed tears as he reached for my hand.

“I truly didn't mean to be so harsh on you, my love. I truly regret my actions. Please forgive me.” His voice was laced with remorse, and I could tell he regretted his actions.

I swallowed hard, the memories of the night before flashing in my mind. How could I tell him that I cheated on him last night?

Loneliness got the best of me, and I couldn't control my emotions, so I ended up making a mistake.

“Sophie, please say something, my love! Won't you forgive your husband? You know how much I love you, don't you?” Liam asked, his tone gentle.

He lifted his hand to my face, cupping it gently.

My words caught in my throat. I tried to say something, but I couldn't. My stomach hardened as the memories kept replaying in my brain like they were on a loop.

I cleared my throat. “It's all in the past. I've already forgiven you.” I forced the words out of my mouth.

Liam pulled me into a tight hug, his embrace so welcoming I couldn't help but close my eyes, trying hard to remove the memories of that night from my brain.

Liam pulled me out of his embrace, his lips stretching into a smile. “I have exciting news for you.” Liam’s voice dripped with excitement. “My stepbrother is coming to visit us today. He'll stay here for a few days. I hope you don't mind. He's the only family I have.”

I forced a smile, nodding my head.

“This is our home, Liam. You are welcome to bring your family here. Don't mind what I said….I was just mad.”

I tried to sound calm, but only God knows what was happening inside my heart and my brain. I've made the biggest mistake of my life, and I can never correct it, no matter how much I want to.

“Thank you, my love.” Liam placed a soft kiss on my cheek.

“I will join you shortly. I need to take a shower.” I forced the words out of my mouth before I headed upstairs.

I took a quick shower before I stepped out of the bathroom. It took everything in me not to think about the night before.

Walking out of my room, I made my way downstairs, heading to the dining room. I halted in my steps as my eyes met the familiar green eyes. Even in my wildest dreams, I'd always remember these eyes.

I could never be wrong about them. My heart began banging against my chest at the realization.
