4. She's the one
CHAPTER FOUR
Cypher's Pov
I sat quietly in the room before the elders and watched in disgust as they kept talking about nothing but the future of the pack.
"Why can't the future decide itself?"
I muttered under my breath and picked at my food with the cutlery provided.
I hope Kaylan doesn't mess up and show up beautiful tonight, that's the only way to keep these men shut and keep my brother in his place.
"Don't you think I should bring anyone random as your Luna, these people are keen on crowning anyone with a Luna!"
My beta and best friend, Zane, uttered out, disturbed and I glared at him.
"The crown and throne are mine!" I slammed.
"Yeah, not with your brother looking this calm. He has someone."
He complained and I sighed.
"Do you even know who I am
Zane?"He rolled his eyes at me and focused on his meal."Yeah, a pompous rude jerk!"
I glared at him and they cleared their throats grabbing my attention.
All this was a nonsense procedure, as the first son of My father, the throne belongs to me and the Moon priestess gave her announcement. It's just obvious that I'm not needed here using a Luna as a disguise.
"The Alpha from the southern region found his mate!" One of the elders started as I forced the food down my throat that my eyes watered while he continued. "As well as the Alpha of the Northern Region, I know we all know the Redstone Pack, the largest wolf pack."
I banged my fist on the table at that and glared.
"Why the fuck are you bringing this up?" I was so pissed that he would mention the Wolf's Pack in my midst as a comparison to getting a mate.
"I'm just stating a fact that they have a mate who happens to be their Luna!" He murmured and I glared at him.
"Don't you ever fucking mention the wolves in my sight again!"
I warned and he nodded.
I hated the wolves with every living fiber in me, it's funny I harbor such feelings toward them since we were far stronger and better but my dad's death had to do with their dangerous poison.
I'm so sure that he didn't die a natural death and that's why when Kaylan was brought into the Pack as a random rogue they saw along the way of Crescent Moon Pack, I went berserk…
I promised to show her hell in paradise and I'm glad that I didn't get to kill her cause she couldn't have saved my ass right now by being my Luna.
"We'll be crowning whosoever has a Luna in the next full moon which is in four days, that's why we kept this meeting so as not to disappoint the moon goddess when she arrives." He said and I scoffed
"Save yourself the strength, I'll call my lady so we can wrap this all up. I'm already getting tired."
Gareth said and I scoffed and whispered some incoherent words to my alleged Beta whose face grew wide in shock but stood up anyway.
Since my younger brother has decided to be stubborn, let's see who wins this crown.
Deep down, I felt like shit that I didn't have a mate after all these years. My heart clenched in pain at the realization that hits me about others getting their fated mate every full moon but I couldn't. The last full moon was the same, I went back looking dejected and almost cried out in frustration.
"Was I cursed?"
I would ask the moon goddess about this all the time and pray for my mate to come to me. I don't care who she is but I will protect her with the last string of my life.
I'll make sure I care and love her senselessly cause I've waited more than ten years since my eighteenth birthday to have her in my arms.
Kaylan's scent swirled in my nose and I looked up in anticipation and smirked.
She looked different.
The dress I gave to her fits perfectly and her features were accentuated perfectly but that wasn't it, she was shaking terribly with fear and anxiety and the moons know how I'll rip her apart if she dares mess this up for me.
"Why is the maid here?" One of the men asked and I sighed, it's obvious they all know that she's our personal thing.
I opened my mouth to say something but Gareth beat me to it.
"She's here to choose her Alpha." He grinned and my heartbeat slammed rapidly, wondering what he meant by that.
They looked around in confusion and he continued." What? She gets to choose who she wants to be with and we get this done at the full moon."
Goodness! Why is he so calm? All this while, Kaylan's face was bowed and I had a terrible feeling.
"But she's a wolf?" They all murmured.
"And so what?" Gareth and I chorused sternly and he passed me a death glare which I returned to him.
The elders sighed and shrugged, looking over at her.
"Fine, who is your Alpha?" They asked her.
The room became silent and I could feel everyone's heartbeat, particularly mine which was beating rapidly.
I glanced around to notice that the servants were staring too, waiting for her to make a move when she suddenly went limp and collapsed on the floor.
Gasps filled the air as Gareth rushed to her, feeling her pulse, extreme worry taking over his face as I growled Inwardly and stood up to check on her.
"Get your hands off her!" I half yelled and he stared at me disgustingly before turning to the elders.
"Excuse me?" He scoffed menacingly.
"Move away Gareth" I hissed and gritted my teeth.
"She's the one, I've chosen her as my Luna!" He yelled and turned to me. "So kindly fuck off."
He yelled and I punched him so hard to the ground.
