LISBON
Waking up and realizing that I had a dreamless sleep was weird but good I slept peacefully. For the first time in a year of not hearing those screams I felt like I could relax. Last night I was up packing and made sure that I didn't forget anything. As usual I do my same routine. Thinking as I hope in the shower how lucky it’s been for me to finally take a journey all of my own. Its scary but exciting at the same time. All of a sudden something came over me, a flash of pain through my head that shivered down my spine and I shot right out of the shower and screamed from the excruciating pain. Then the pain was gone I didn’t realize that I was on all fours but when my vision reappeared it’s like nothing I have ever seen. My vision was so clear I could even see the tiny specks of dust where the sun glared from the window making it look crystalized.
I could smell the pancakes that momma Steph was making, and the fresh wet dew of the morning grass. It’s like all my senses were heightened out of nowhere, I could see the fly in the distant next to my bed side table flying around and the buzzing sound. I stood up fast trying to shake my head hoping that would make
everything better. It seems that I was just seeing things few I thought that I was going crazy for real. As I finished getting dressed, I couldn’t help but think I’m
going to miss home, I’ll miss momma waking me up and making sure I’m ok all I want is to make sure that my heart isn’t broken with any bad news. Its every child’s dream even to know what happened or why they couldn’t take care of them. I on the other had just want to know where I come from. Carrying my bags downstairs and to the car momma Steph explains “you got everything you need sweetheart, plenty of money your cards your license, I just want to make sure you will be ok you know I always worry.’’ I couldn’t help but smile she was the best she knew what I was going through and she supported me. I smile “yes momma I’ll be ok I promise I’m ready it’s a drive so I don’t want be driving to late its only a few hours which is nice,’’ I explained. I’ve been driving for about 4 hours when I got to stop for gas I got about 1 hour left, till I make it to Lisbon the little village that my parents are from. It sucks I’ve got 2 names and no last names. As I was
filling up the gas tank I was singing along to my favorite song on my playlist best friend’s brother’’ I love music it’s my escape from the world. Back on the road snacking and jamming everything starts showing only green the long fresh cut grass so beautiful the street just kept getting longer and longer nothing but farm land. The smell of fresh cut grass was so calming and watching as I pass horses, cows and even a bunch of goats I knew that I was close to HOME! Something was pulling my heart this excitement was such a thrill of adrenaline that I almost didn’t
see the guy crossing the road. The tires screeched as I slammed on the breaks so hard I busted my head on the steering wheel. Aw man my head was throbbing I jumped out of the car and ran right into the guy that I almost hit and rushed out, “omg I’m so sorry I didn’t see you,’’ I explained! When I looked up at him my heart stopped. Not literally but I don’t know how to explain it. I felt like I knew him from somewhere and I believe he felt that same feeling I felt. I couldn’t breathe let alone feel his hands on my hip. How hadn’t I realized that I had almost fell and he caught me before I fell. His eyes were bright but sharp green-Hazzel, beautiful this man was like anything I’ve seen. He smiles to me and says, “I’m guessing that you not from here haha.’’ He laughs smiling. “No actually I’m not. I’m just visiting and I made quite the splash already I’m sorry I really am this place is so beautiful and I didn’t see you. I’m so embarrassed honestly,” I smiled shyly. We just kept looking at each other then car horns pull us out of it, “well Welcome to Lisbon Village Ms. I hope to see you around again,’’ he waves. I jumped back in my car and drove off smiling wow that was something haha well thank gosh I never hurt him that’s good. For some reason something came over me where I just knew that I was going to be ok here. The atmosphere here was amazing the smells the sun radiating on my skin was like a sheet of silk hitting my skin. As I’m driving, I go to the closet hotel and rent a room. Ughh today was a long day I definitely needed some sleep because tomorrow will be a big day finding someone to talk to and find my parents.
