For her father

Aria's POV

I wanted to question him. To question the man whether or not he was related to Jared, but I didn't.

If I did, it would only give the man confirmation that he got the right person. He would just keep me in here.

"Fine. I know your name now." I nodded. "That is still not enough reason for you barge into my wedding and ruin it, and also drug and kidnap me."

Luca scoffed. Then he walked over to me and crouched down. “You were being married off to Noel Jackson. Do you know what that means?”

I shook my head slowly.

“It means you were going to be killed the moment your father’s debt was settled. You’re worth more dead than alive to them.”

I stared at him. My body stiffened. “You’re lying.”

"I don't care if you believe me. That is because, I may have saved you from Noel, but that doesn't me you're safe with me either." he said coldly.

I gulped.

"I didn't do anything to you. I... I don't even know you." My voice came out in a stammer.

Luca shrugged. "Not you, but your family... your father."

"Then take it up with him." I yelled almost immediately. "Kidnap him. What am I doing here?!"

"Your father is a very hard man to track." Luca exhaled, standing up straight. "He doesn't appear much in public, just like today, he was so scared for his life that he didn't bother to show up for your wedding."

I felt as though Luca opened a bandaged wound on purpose and I looked away, blinking back my tears.

"I'm sure by now he knows you're with me. He's going to cut you off just so I can't use you to get to him."

My father was a heartless man.

I knew that.

He was involved in fraudulent activities.

I knew that to.

But cut me off?

He wouldn't do that...right?

"I'm glad you know who my father is." I turned to look at him. "He's going to find you, and you'll be sorry." I threatened. But Luca didn't seem fazed.

"That's what I wish." Luca responded. "But your father is smarter than going after me directly, he would lose... And I'll have him."

His words sounded so sincere... It was nerve wrecking.

I tried to shift back, but the ropes around my knees dug into my skin. My hands were still tied too.

"So what am I then? Just a pawn to lure my father out?" I asked, trying my best to sound calm.

Luca didn't answer.

“I want to leave.”

"You can’t." Came his cold response.

“You’re no better than him!” I shouted, my fake calmness leaving me completely. “You think just because you wear a suit and speak calmly that you’re any different? You’re a criminal!"

He leaned in slightly. “And so is your father.”

My lips parted, but no words came out.

He stepped back again. “I’ll have someone untie you once you’ve calmed down.”

“Go to hell,” I spat.

He smirked.

“I’ve already been.”

Then he walked out of the room, locking the door behind him.

I sat there, breathing heavily, staring at the door. My wrists burned. My legs were numb.

I wasn’t sure who to be angry at anymore...him, my father, or myself.

"Ahhhhh!" I yelled in frustration, trying to kick my legs.

My father had finally done it.

I always knew I was going to used as a pawn one-day to get to him. I had warned him severally to stop making enemies especially enemies of his world.

But he refused.

He wanted to control everything, everyone... Not caring of how many people he stopped on, how many bodies dropped or how long it took.

Because of this stupid reason I tried to distance myself from him.

Still, I was going to be used as a pawn in his game.

What surprised me though was the fact that Luca was also a Morretti.

I knew a Morretti once.

But he wasn't cold.

He wasn't wicked, he wasn't cruel or heartless... He didn't have the kind of look my father had, the one Luca also has.

When he died, I refused to believe it.

They said it was an accident, but I knew better.

Could it be that my father had a hand in it?

No.

I shook my head.

"My dad is anything but a murderer." I convinced myself exhaling deeply.

My father was a lot of things... A murderer wasn't one of them... I hoped.

I tried to get the rope lose again, wiggling my hands and fit so they would come off, but it didn't work.

If anything, the ropes only got tighter.

Argh!

"Fuck." I sighed, breathing hard with my nose. Beads of sweat rolled down my face.

It was no use. The rope was too tight.

"Luca did say he was going to get someone to untie me later. I'll just escape after that." I decided, my breathing dragged.

I was tired.

Today...

Today has been a rough day.
