Tied up
Aria's POV
My eyes flustered open, but everything was still dark. I shut them again, panic spreading in my heart.
"Where am I?"
I opened my eyes, and blinked... It was still dark.
My body shivered... This was not good.
I tried to look around...to try and see through the darkness, but it was just still dark.
My eyes swelled with tears.
I could feel the cold hard floor just right beneath me, my hands were hugging my knees... And they were tied.
They were tied together at the back of my knees.
"Holy fuck." I muttered trying to stand, breathing deeply through my nose.
But that was hard to do.
The harder I breathe, the more I felt suffocated.
This darkness... it wasn't in the entire place, it was only my face.
Something, a bag was placed on my face.
My body shivered in my fright, and my lips trembled.
I tried to move, I tried to stand...only to stagger and fall back to the ground. "Ahh!" A sharp cry tore through my lungs as I fell back to the ground.
A sob left my lips.
Slowly, fragments of my memories... Memories of what happened yesterday came back to me.
I was getting married.
It was a business alliance. I had never met the man before yet I agreed to get married to him because of my father.
We were on the alter, about saying out vows when...
"She's finally awake." A cold voice suddenly said. I felt a shiver run through my spine.
I still couldn't see anything. I didn't need my eyes to know that it was the same man who ruined tbe wedding.
I froze at the sound of his voice.
I remembered everything now.
It was quiet at first, then came closer. His footsteps were calm… too calm.
“You drugged me,” I whispered, my throat scratchy. "You fucking drugged a damn stranger?!"
He didn’t respond right away. I could hear him moving. Maybe dragging a chair? The sound of it scraped the ground.
Or maybe he wasn't the one dragging it.
I could hear the sounds of footsteps, to different patterns.
"Stranger? Yes." he finally said, his tone low and without remorse. "This was the only way to get to you."
Get to me?
My chest heaved up and down in both fear and anger.
I... I wasn't dead yet which meant the man didn't want to kill me.
Which was great.
But... Why me?
There was silence. A long one. I could hear myself breathing. Still struggling.
Then I heard another voice... The same coldness present in his tone.
I was familiar with that kind of tone.
It was the same one my father had.
'Oh shit' That was when I realized.
This men weren't after me, they were after my father.
"Should we take the bag off now?"
“Yes,” the cold voice answered.
I stayed still, practicing breathing with my nose when I suddenly felt hands on me. My body grew tense, and I jerked back. But they gripped my arms tight, holding me still as the bag was pulled off my head.
I blinked rapidly. "Fuck." The light was dim, but it stung.
I looked around, heart pounding. I was in a basement, or at least something like it. The walls were cement, the air smelled like metal and dust. There were no windows.
My eyes snapped to him... the man from the wedding.
He was standing a few feet away, watching me. The sunglasses were gone.
I could see his face completely now.
I was right.
He was handsome.
The man looked like a damn God with perfectly sculpted facial features... Only thing which ruined it was the scrowl he had on his face.
'Aria, what is wrong with you?' My mind reprimanded. 'Why the hell are you thinking about his face? He fucking kidnapped you!"
“I want answers,” I said, forcing myself not to cry again. “Why the hell did you take me?”
He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he stood up and stepped forward towards me.
I shrank away to a corner... Goosebumps crawling on my skin.
Oh I was terrified of this man, but I refused to shy away from his gaze.
"Don't you know who I am?'" he said asked.
I frowned. " Am I supposed to know who you are?"
The man smirked, shaking his head. Then he turned towards the other man in the room and gave him a nod. The guy walked out, shutting the heavy metal door behind him.
Now it was just the two of us.
"Aria Bellani." He called out and I clenched my jaw. "The only daughter of Diego Bellani, the don who controls the Sivung group and other other areas around it."
I wasn't sure before... But after what this man just said, I was certain.
This was indeed connected to my father.
"If you have any grudge with my father take it up with him." I said, forcing my voice to stay calm "Why do you have to drag me into this?"
"Drag you?" The man chuckled. But then his expression morphed into one of anger, his gaze on me brought another shiver down my spine. "You got dragged into this the second your father stepped over the line and crossed the Morretti's path."
Morretti?
My eyes widened.
I stared at the man in shock. "You... You are a Morretti?"
"Luca Morretti." Came his curt answer.
My mouth opened.
Yes.
I had never seen this man before.
I didn't even know who he was.
But the name Morretti?
I knew it.
I knew it more than I cared to remember. But it wasn't linked to my father.
"Jared." I muttered under my breath. Not to loud so he couldn't hear.
I couldn't believe my ears.
It had been years since I heard that name Morretti.
But my father had nothing to do with it.
