Chapter 4 Do you know who I am

Amara

Um, thanks for letting me make a phone call.

He folds his arms behind his head.

No problem, kitten

I huff, irritated that he thinks he can call me that.

Was that your lover?

What no?! That was my best friend

Ah, so no lover then?

No, I reply dryly

Allow an inmate to have a lover on the outside? I don't think that's something you have a say over.

A dark smile draws up his face.

No kitten, no other inmates. Just you. And you would be surprised at what I have a say over.

My breath caught in my throat again. That warm feeling is spreading through my entire body. My pussy is clutching, begging for a release. Begging for him to touch me. No, no, stop, Amara, stop, you know what will happen. You'll be moved to another prison, or worse, he will find out and kill you. And murder isn't something I needed added to my resume. I was so lost in my own thoughts that I hadn't noticed how close he had gotten to me. I didn't realize I had already backed up, my heels hitting the wall. His eyes pierced into me. Fear and excitement, making me more aroused. My nipples are hard, pressing against my bra. He smelled so good. Like musk, oak, and sex. He moves his hand up to my face, brushing my hair out of my eyes. Leaning over me with both hands against the wall.

Kitten, maybe I should show you how far my reach goes

What…, what do you mean

Are you under the impression I only run a prison, correct kitten?

Umm, well, that is your job

He laughs. Do you know my name is Kitten?

No, sir…everyone here just calls you warden.

My name is Liam, Liam Draeger.

My heart stops. Sheer panic was setting in every fiber of my being. No no. It can't be. He can't be Liam Draeger. He owned half of the city, the other half….owned by Killain. Killain’s mortal enemy. They had been at war with each other for the last few years. Neither wanted to bow to the other. Fighting over territory and people. Somehow, I found myself incarcerated, right in the middle of the two most powerful men in this city. If I wasn't careful. I for sure wasn't making it out alive. I'm sure Killian would kill every person in this prison just to have a go with Liam. And me, I would be caught dead center.

Liam

I watch as she processes the information I just gave her. I can see the panic, fear, and distrust just as it should be. This reaction seems more than the knowledge of how I took this city. My heart sinks thinking about that day. Anger curled up at the image permanently burned into me. A bullet in his head. Blood oozes down the side of his face. The one man I looked up to. The only father figure I ever had. Now lying on the floor, weak, dead. He was betrayed. And I should have been here. I was supposed to be here.

But Gregory insisted that I take my men and burn every warehouse that Harrison owned. Putting an end to his drug posts, making it impossible for him to move them. We had been working on this for months. Slowly destroying every business that gave Harrison so much power in this city,  and Gregory had it all planned out, every plan perfectly executed. We took down most of his men. We put an end to his gun trades, taking over his contracts when he appeared weak. I remember Gregory telling me that the moment you look weak as a leader is the moment you lose as a leader. He was right.

Those men flipped so fast, as soon as Harrsion looked as if he couldn't manage his business or protect his people. They willingly started lining up to defect. To join our ranks. Even Killian. He was with Gregory. He was supposed to protect him. This meeting was supposed to be Anderson's surrender. But instead, I stand in front of his cold body. Anderson and Killain will die for this. I will own this city just as Gregory wanted. They will pay. I will avenge you. No matter the cost.

Killian

We found her boss. She's at Rose penitentiary.

Those words are magic to my ears, Gonzalez.

Yeah, it wasn't easy to track her down. A friend must have helped her cover where she was being sent. I'm sorry it took such a long time, boss.

No doubt that would be her friend Phoebe. A gifted hacker. I guess that makes her the only one she has left at this point.

She can't run, Boss. What do you wanna do? You want us to go get her?

No, I have a better idea. Let her stay there and think about what she did. Prison is hell compared to the life I gave her. And this shall not go unpunished.

Anything else, boss?

Yes, I need you to take a letter to her with discretion.

Right away, boss.

He grabs the letter out of my hand, and I watch him and the boys load up in the car and drive off.

She thought she could leave me. No one leaves me. I slam my fist down on my desk. I run my fingers through my hair. Okay, okay, so maybe things got a bit heated that night. God, she drives me crazy.

I look down at my burnt arm. The boils disgust me. Yet I couldn't bring myself to do skin grafts and cover up her mark. She was marked by me years ago and she finally left her own. What kind of master would I be if I just covered that up?

I plan to play with my toy before rescuing her from that awful place. Let her sit in it. Let her fear it. She knows better than to ever lay a hand on me. Yet she did. That fear I spent years placing in her is all gonna boil up. Until she can't stand it anymore. And then when she's at her wits end. I will go get her. Once she is home. She will take that brand. She will be mine. And she will never even fathom telling me no again.
