Fiancé
"Babe" Nelson Bishops voice made Mia turn her head and look at the charming man who is walking towards her with a broad grin. His two assistants are following after him closely. Nelson is the CEO of the Bishop group. He is sweet and very talented. He is a dream man of the woman around him. Mia still couldn't believe how a man like that fell for her.
"Nelson" Mia greeted him with a smile. Nelson makes Mia feel at ease. He doesn't demand all her attention and would give her space to breath. She likes him. When Martha and Patrick asked her to go on a date with Nelson as Sarah, Mia was not very eager. But she couldn't refuse her parents, so she agreed. She wore a mask for their first meeting. Even with a mask, Nelson liked her company, so he proposed marriage. As Sarah was still sick, her parents decided that Mia should marry Nelson as Sarah Watson. Mia wanted to come clean, but Patrick refused.
Bishop group promised to infuse funds into the Watson group, which the latter is in desperate need of. If Nelson gets angry after learning the truth and cancel the marriage, the Watson group will go bankrupt. Mia couldn't do that to her adopted parents. So she kept quiet and pretended to be Sarah.
Nelson gave Mia a bear hug. Mia instantly became stiff. For whatever odd reason, Damien's face flashed in her mind.
"You keep turning more beautiful as the days passed by" he complimented her.
Mia blushed at his words. His assistants and the other Watson group employees were looking at them already. So she pulled back slowly.
"Thank you" she replied softly.
He grinned widely with his boy next door looks.
They walked hand in hand inside the meeting room. Nelson sat at the head of the table, while Mia sat to his right.
They discussed about the ongoing projects of the Watson group and the projects which needed immediate funding from the Bishops. Nelson gave suggestions in the middle, which everyone agreed to. The meeting concluded with the Bishops agreeing to invest a hundred million into the Watson group.
"Thank you Nelson. This means alot to us" Mia thanked Nelson for his kindness. The Bishop group is not a small company. Its a conglomerate that has thousands of billions of assets all over the world. Being the CEO of such a big company, Nelson still is very grounded, a fact which Mia likes.
"Anything for you, Babe" he replied charmingly.
Mia smiled at his flattering words. Just then, his mobile started ringing. The moment he looked at the caller id, Mia noticed a sudden change which only lasted a second before he composed himself. In that one second, Nelson looked like a complete different person. His body's stance became aggressive and a disturbing glint entered his eyes. But as soon as it appeared, its gone.
'Did I imagine that?' she wondered.
"Excuse me" Nelson excused himself before leaving Mia alone in the corridor.
As soon as he left, Mia's mobile started ringing. When noticed the unknown number on the screen, she frowned. But still answered the call.
"Hello"
A beat of silence later, his voice penetrated through the speakers, making her spine shudder with fear.
"Nemesis" Damien taunted from the other end.
Mia gulped audibly. Nemesis, as in his enemy.
"That was a mistake ok. Please, don't do this" she whispered feeling miserable.
He chuckled darkly from the other end.
"If you think that your Fiance would save the day, then think again Nem. He promised to infuse a hundred million, so what? If the Watsons face the corruption charges, do you think the Bishops would still want to invest? I tipped the anti corruption bureau against the Watsons. They are searching your company logistics as we speak. Do you think you can escape from me, Nem?" he taunted before disconnecting the call.
Mia turned pale and ran to the finance department. And sure enough, the Finance department is in chaos. The Fiance director looked pale and sweating. He rushed over to Mia as soon as he noticed her.
"Miss, we didn't know that there will a raid. There are too many things which they shouldn't know. We will be finishing if they discovered everything" the director whispered with urgency.
Mia turns pale.
'Damn this Damien' she thought feeling frustrated. Thats when Nelson enters the Finance department.
"Babe? What's going on here?" he inquires looking around the mess and the people going through the files.
Mia looks at Nelson with hope.
'If i request Nelson, may be he can help me. After that, I will tell him everything about his brother' she decided.
"Nelson, someone seemed to give wrong information to the anti corruption bureau. Can you help us?" she requested Nelson.
Nelson frowned deeply. He placed his hand on Mia's shoulder.
"Its not like I don't want to help you, but if uncle Patrick is doing something which he shouldn't, I suggest you to take care of it on your own. Because dad will not be happy to hear the Watsons name associated with corruption. In this matter, I cannot do anything. I will go pick up our rings and see you tomorrow at our engagement venue" with that said, Nelson walked away without turning back.
Mia was stunned. But what can she do? Immediately she dialed her dad. She explained everything to him.
"Mia, I cannot come there right now. I am sure you can handle it" with that said, Patrick disconnected the call.
Mia looked helpless and scared.
"Miss, they found the files. They might arrest you and Mr. Watson. We will go bankrupt now. What are we going to do now?" the direction said with panic.
Looking around the Chaos, Mia is depressed and distressed. She shouldn't have to deal with this alone. But she couldn't bring herself to disappoint Patrick. After all, she created this mess.
"Don't worry, I will deal with this" she promised the director and walked out before dialing Damien.
"I will bring you whatever you want. Please, stop this" she begged him.
Damien chuckled with amusement.
"Good, remember Nem, you will be at my beck and call. If you dared to refuse, I don't mind making the Watsons go bankrupt" he threatened darkly.
But a minute later, the finance department cleared out and the officials left the Watson group.
'I made a deal with the devil, where will I end up?' she thought feeling depressed.
