Chapter 7 Are You Jealous

Silas was fuming, his face twisted with anger as he leaned in to kiss Lila's red lips.

It was bad enough that he wasn't her first, but now she was involved with Killian and had the nerve to call him despicable?

If anyone was low, it was Lila. Pregnant with another man's child and tangled up with Killian.

Silas couldn't stand the thought of Lila being connected to Killian.

Killian's status made Silas nervous. If Lila found protection under Killian, the Hart family would never let Silas off the hook.

"Silas, aren't you trying to get in good with Killian? The project you're working on is for the Hart family, right? I can help you."

Lila, dodging his advances, came up with a plan.

She loathed Silas deeply.

Silas paused, his anger dissipating as he sat back in the driver's seat, looking at Lila with a smile.

"How do you plan to help me?"

Lila clenched her fingers, resisting the urge to wipe away Silas's touch.

"Killian doesn't like me, but we have an engagement. Killian has always wanted to break it off, but I hesitated because my grandmother was sick and needed money."

"You were right before; I can't possibly match up to Killian. But we did have a relationship, and there's an emotional foundation. My grandmother needs money, so I want to negotiate with Killian. He said he'd be at the office in twenty minutes."

As soon as Lila finished speaking, Silas's car sped away like a bullet.

Lila smirked, though inwardly she cursed Silas's greed and filth.

"I can give you the money, but the condition is that my project must win the bid."

Silas said as he drove.

Lila scoffed internally.

She couldn't be too kind to Silas. If she retreated, he would become even more aggressive.

He wanted Lila to help him secure the project? Dream on.

After all the things Silas had done to the Voss family, Lila wished she could tear him apart. And he expected her to help him grow his company?

Lila never intended to cooperate with Silas.

She just didn't want to offend Killian. Compared to Killian, Silas was nothing.

As long as she married Killian, Silas wouldn't dare mess with her.

"I'm not sure if Killian will agree. After all, I don't know what he's thinking. If it weren't for Mrs. Hart being kind to me, Killian definitely wouldn't go for it," Lila said softly.

"Aren't you pregnant? Use that to threaten Killian. If he doesn't agree, tell Eleanor. As long as Killian doesn't want you to marry into the Hart family, he'll have to agree."

Silas remembered seeing Lila at the hospital for a prenatal check-up and thought this might work.

Lila couldn't help but curse Silas in her mind.

Killian didn't want the child at all. If Lila used this to threaten him, it wouldn't just be the child at risk; Lila herself could be in danger.

"Killian won't acknowledge it. You know how ruthless he can be. I can only use Mrs. Hart's name to negotiate with Killian."

Lila's gaze fell outside the window, watching the buildings speed by as she cautiously analyzed the situation with Silas.

Silas thought Lila made sense.

If he could get in with the Hart family's business, his position and reputation in the industry would soar.

The car soon arrived at Hart Enterprises. As Lila was about to get out, Silas grabbed her.

Lila didn't dare move, warning Silas, "If Killian sees us together, he'll get suspicious. You won't get anything."

Silas chuckled, stroking Lila's hair. "I know. Just remember, Lila, I don't like being lied to. I hope you're sincere about helping me."

Silas's voice and breath on Lila's neck made her skin crawl.

"Time's running out," Lila said, prompting Silas to let go, prioritizing the project.

"Remember what you said."

Silas tried to hold Lila's hand again, but she pulled away.

Lila got out of the car, not forgetting her suitcase.

She kept an eye on the time; there was one minute left.

Lila ran towards the building, unaware that Killian was watching from the floor-to-ceiling window, his expression cold.

He hadn't expected her to be juggling him and another man. Quite the skill.

His assistant sensed his mood shift and looked down at Lila. "Mr. Hart, I'll go get Miss Voss."

Killian nodded silently.

The assistant went downstairs to fetch Lila, having someone take care of her luggage before bringing her to Killian.

Lila asked the assistant why Killian wanted to see her, but the assistant hinted that Killian was in a bad mood.

Lila frowned, remembering how Killian had left abruptly after getting a call from Emily last night.

Had Killian run into a problem with Emily?

Was he in a bad mood and looking to take it out on Lila?

Lila slowed her pace, her eagerness to see Killian waning.

She knew Killian's temper and feared the pain it could bring. She didn't want to go through that again.

"I have something to do today. Maybe I can come back another time."

Lila hesitated.

The assistant didn't respond, just looked behind Lila, bowed respectfully, and left.

Lila noticed the assistant's actions and felt a chill behind her.

"Lila, do you have something to do today? What is it? Going back to that man?" Killian grabbed Lila and pulled her into the elevator, her back hitting the wall painfully.

Killian noticed her expression and loosened his grip.

But the thought of Lila with Silas made his anger flare.

"I didn't," Lila said, lightly protecting her abdomen, trying to explain to Killian.

"Didn't? Whose car did you come in? Last night you said he forced you, and today you're all smiles? Lila, at least make your lies believable."

Lila's skill at juggling multiple men was impressive.

Killian recognized the car; it was the same one from yesterday.

Eleanor had just ordered him to give Lila a good place, but it seemed she already had a new choice.

"I didn't lie to you," Lila frowned, her abdomen hurting, wanting Killian to back off.

Killian didn't move, his gaze like a blade as he kissed Lila's lips.

Lila tried to push him away, but Killian only pressed harder.

Lila seemed to have a magnetic pull on Killian.

He hated this feeling, despising Lila's involvement with other men, yet his body reacted to her.

"You're crazy. This is a public place," Lila bit Killian's tongue, using his pain to push him away.

Killian touched his bleeding lip, sneering, "I'm crazy? Aren't you always open to anyone? Why care about the surroundings now?"

"You were so eager to seduce me to marry me, and now you're playing coy?"

Lila leaned against the elevator wall, her body aching from the impact, her abdomen hurting.

She couldn't let Killian see her discomfort; she just wanted to leave.

Lila suddenly looked up and asked, "Killian, are you jealous?"
