Chapter 5 Conceal Her Identity
Lila put her hand between them, trying to create some distance. "You came in here yourself."
Killian hooked his finger under Lila's chin, emphasizing again, "This is my room. Is this your new tactic to get me to marry you?"
Lila felt both helpless and angry.
What a narcissist. It was Killian who took the towel and threw it into the bathtub.
Following Killian's lead, Lila mocked, "So, are you saying you're seduced by me now?"
Rumor had it that Killian had been waiting for a mysterious woman and hadn't touched any other woman for three years.
Now, wasn't he just proving everyone wrong?
The atmosphere in the bathroom was charged with tension, their breaths mingling.
The soft touch in Killian's palm ignited a fire within him that grew stronger.
Over the years, many women had tried to climb into Killian's bed, but even if they stood naked before him, he felt no desire.
Yet, this woman, Lila, was different.
Lila noticed the change in Killian's body, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. Was Killian seduced by her?
Men are all the same; even someone like Killian can't resist temptation.
If Killian was truly seduced, maybe she could use this to her advantage.
Lila wanted better medical care for her grandmother.
With a sly smile, Lila reached out and hooked her arm around Killian's neck, pressing her luscious lips to his.
Almost instantly, Killian pulled Lila tightly against him, his sudden fervor spreading like wildfire.
The towel around Lila fell to the floor, her body tense, but she controlled herself and responded to Killian.
Killian's touch didn't repulse Lila. Unlike when Silas touched her, which she resisted, Killian's touch brought a sense of pleasure. His tobacco scent was intoxicating, and his kisses were fiery.
Lila's intentions weren't pure. Even if Killian refused to marry her after tonight, their relationship might improve, and he might reconsider marriage.
Lila had thought a lot these past few days. To complete her mission on the dark web, staying close to Killian was the most convenient.
Once, Lila had been a girl cherished by her family, never knowing a moment of hardship.
But now, facing betrayal from her lover and abandonment by her family, Lila felt cornered.
Fortunately, Lila knew how to seize opportunities to save herself, or she wouldn't be here today.
Her grandmother in the nursing home needed money, and Lila needed relief from the constant harassment by debt collectors. There were also matters abroad that required decisions.
Maybe only when Lila paid off her debts could she truly be herself again.
In all of Vesperhaven, only the Hart family could stand against Silas. Now that Killian was willing to do this with her, Lila wouldn't miss any opportunity.
Killian's gaze grew hazy as he looked at Lila, and she could tell he was moved.
Killian indeed liked Lila's body, his passionate kisses leaving marks everywhere. Lila tried to ignore her shame and matched Killian's fervor.
"Temptress."
Killian bit Lila's earlobe, his voice low and husky.
Just as Killian's hand moved downward, a piercing ringtone shattered the intimate moment in the bathroom.
Killian's phone rang, over and over.
Annoyed, Killian glanced at it, and Lila noticed the name on the screen: Emily.
Killian instantly calmed down, releasing Lila and covering her with his discarded shirt before leaving the bathroom to answer the call.
Outside the bathroom, Killian's voice was audible, but Lila couldn't make out his words.
Soon, the sound of a door closing echoed.
Had Killian left?
Lila knew Emily. They had danced together in a troupe as children. Lila had a natural talent for dance, and the teacher chose her as the lead, recommending her for a top international dance company.
Emily had been upset about it and confronted the teacher.
Later, Lila injured her foot and missed the opportunity, while Emily took her place as the lead.
Emily and Killian had been together during that time.
Three years ago, Emily went abroad for further studies.
Coincidentally, Lila was also abroad.
Seeing Killian's reaction to the call, it seemed this woman was the mysterious one he had been waiting for.
Lila looked at herself in the bathroom mirror, her neck marked with passionate kisses. The scene of their entangled bodies felt like a dream.
Lila laughed, mocking both herself and Killian.
She had always prided herself on being calm and composed, yet she had ultimately succumbed to emotions.
If she hadn't recommended Silas to her family, allowing him into the company, the Voss family's tragedy wouldn't have happened.
In contrast, Killian, a formidable force in the business world, was ensnared by love.
It seemed that no matter how invincible someone appeared, they always had a weakness.
Killian cared so much about Emily. The position of Mrs. Hart was likely reserved for her.
Lila touched her flat stomach.
She had considered aborting the child before, but after so many ordeals, her family had dwindled.
Her grandfather had died in prison, her grandmother was in a coma, and her sister studying abroad, was missing.
Lila had no family left.
The next morning, Lila went to the back courtyard where Eleanor lived.
"Mrs. Hart," Lila said, pushing the door open, "I want to move out for a while."
Eleanor Hart's hand stiffened. "How can that be? You can't just move out."
"I know you care about me, Mrs. Hart, and want Killian to marry me so no one will bully me."
Lila spoke sincerely, "But Mrs. Hart, Killian doesn't like me and doesn't want to marry me. You shouldn't force him."
"I'm not forcing him... Hmph, shouldn't Killian take responsibility?"
Lila lowered her gaze. She had taken Killian's money and should honor her promise not to trouble him anymore.
"Mrs. Hart, I haven't decided yet. I'm not sure if I want to marry Killian. Everything is happening too fast."
Eleanor was displeased. "Look at Killian. He's not getting any younger. I worry about how his mom would feel if he stayed single."
"Mrs. Hart, that night with Killian was an accident. We have no emotional foundation. If we marry, we'll end up divorced."
"I can't help it. Killian is just like that. I'll make him change."
Eleanor promised, "Tell me what you like, and give me three days. I'll make Killian into that."
Lila laughed.
She playfully said to Eleanor Hart, "I want to get to know Killian better. Can you give us the time to date?"
Lila's fair complexion and playful demeanor softened Eleanor Hart's heart.
Eleanor Hart sighed, "Alright, but don't make me wait too long."
Lila nodded, "I promise."
Eleanor made Lila feel a long-lost sense of family, like her grandmother.
Eleanor wiped away her tears. "If you face any difficulties, come to me."
