Chapter 6 Emily is Fierce

Emily rolled up her sleeves, ready to give Erik a piece of her mind. Erik, seeing the fire in her eyes, bolted, tears streaming down his face.

"You just wait! I'm telling Grandma, and she's gonna punish you!"

Emily's fierce gaze shifted to Wilder, who had been egging Erik on. Wilder, equally terrified, took off like a shot.

Atlas, the butler trailing behind, was taken aback by the scene.

This woman, who volunteered to marry James, was no pushover!

"Mason, are you alright?"

Emily gently cradled Mason, pulling out a clean white handkerchief to wipe the mud and blood from his face.

Mason snuggled into Emily's embrace, his bright eyes locked firmly on her.

Mommy really came to find him!

Mommy didn't lie to him!

As Emily carefully cleaned Mason's face, she noticed his hopeful yet timid gaze and couldn't help but smile.

"Mason, why are you looking at me like that?"

'Mommy, you're so nice!'

'You came to find me. Mason is so happy!'

Mason nuzzled his little face against Emily's neck, showing his joy.

This Mason, how could he be so endearing?

Emily hugged Mason tightly, her heart melting.

Suddenly, she noticed Mason's left arm, red and swollen, with the skin ulcerated and oozing pus.

"Mason, what happened to your arm?"

'Oh no, Mommy notices it!'

Mason panicked and instinctively tried to hide his left arm, but Emily gently held his wrist, rolling up his sleeve to reveal the shocking wound.

'Is this... a burn?'

Emily's hand trembled slightly as she held Mason's. She could tell the burn had been there for days, untreated and festering.

"Doesn't it hurt?" Emily asked softly, holding back tears.

'Mason doesn't hurt.'

'Mommy, don't cry.'

Mason reached out his small hand to wipe the tears from the corner of Emily's eyes, silently comforting her.

"Grandma, it was she who hit me!"

A commotion of voices and footsteps approached, Erik dragging along a woman in a fitted dress with wavy hair.

"Who dares to come here and bully my grandson?"

"It was me."

Emily stood up with Mason in her arms, glaring coldly at the elegant woman in front of her, who was followed by a group of people.

"Who are you?" Liliana frowned, looking puzzled at Emily.

"Mrs. Liliana Thomas, this is the woman who plans to marry Mr. James Thomas," Atlas, the butler, explained.

"So, another foolish woman trying to climb up to the Thomas family for money."

Liliana was Kian's second wife, sharp and arrogant, used to throwing her weight around in the Thomas family, her grandsons, Erik and Wilder, were just like her.

Liliana sneered, "There have been plenty of women like you lately, rushing to marry a paralyzed man for money. I advise you to be smart and choose to leave on your own, or I'll have someone throw you out. There's no place for you in the Thomas family."

"What if I say no?" Emily narrowed her eyes.

"Then leave your hand behind!" Liliana's eyes flashed with malice, shouting, "Someone, cut off the hand she used to hit Erik!"

As Liliana's words echoed, the bodyguards quickly surrounded Emily.

"Mason, stay here and watch me get justice for you."

Emily put Mason down, giving him a confident smile, then moved swiftly, charging towards the bodyguards' incoming fists.

'Mommy!'

Mason watched nervously as her slender figure protected him. His mommy was really amazing, knocking those big bodyguards away with punches and kicks!

"Mason, am I awesome?"

During the fight, Emily found time to turn back and wink playfully at Mason.

'Awesome, Mommy is the best!'

Mason's eyes shone brightly, nodding proudly.

"This is outrageous! Where did this woman come from, daring to cause trouble in the Thomas family! All of you, get her and tear her face apart!"

Liliana shouted in jealousy and anger, looking at Emily's beautiful and fierce face.

Seeing more and more people rushing over, Emily, no matter how skilled, couldn't fight off so many, especially while protecting Mason behind her.

"Everyone, stop!"

A commanding voice rang out, and the crowd instinctively parted to make way. Qiana, leaning on a cane, walked over with a straight back.

Her sharp, authoritative gaze swept around, finally landing on Mason's face behind Emily, frowning slightly.

"Mason, come over here." Qiana beckoned to Mason.

Mason pursed his lips, instinctively hiding behind Emily.

Qiana was surprised. Mason had been mute and withdrawn since childhood, ignoring everyone except James, never showing affection to anyone.

But Mason was actually close to Emily, which was truly astonishing.

Actually, when Emily clashed with the bodyguards, Atlas, fearing someone might get hurt, immediately brought Qiana out to mediate.

And Qiana had already heard a brief account of what happened from Atlas.

"Are you the woman who came today to marry James? You should know my condition: James's wife must be a woman with good fortune."

Qiana looked Emily up and down, speaking indifferently.

Emily looked at Qiana, pulling out a prepared birth date from her backpack.

"Mrs. Thomas, this is my birth date. You can have someone check if I'm qualified."

Before coming, Emily had investigated James's birth date.

Coincidentally, her birth date perfectly matched James's. Moreover, as a woman who had clawed her way back from hell, how could her fortune be bad?

"This woman absolutely cannot stay in the Thomas family!"

Liliana panicked, seeing Atlas take the booklet with Emily's birth date on it.

She pulled Erik to Qiana, saying, "Mom, look at the slap mark on Erik's face, that woman hit him! How can a rough, aggressive woman who hits children be suitable for James? And what about Mason? Aren't you afraid she'll hit Mason too?"

Qiana glared at Liliana, "I can see for myself. I don't need your reminder. And why she hit Erik, don't you know?"

"Mom!" Liliana was anxious, seeing Qiana seemingly defending Emily.

"It was just kids playing around. Erik didn't mean it."

"If it's just kids playing around, then I'll let Mason hit him a few times, how about that?" Emily sneered.
