Betrayal Exposed

Today, a lot of chaos happened, starting from the failed cooperation from Asia, poor employee performance, and export issues to small things that made me late and forget to bring items. All of that has been settled, and at ten o'clock at night, when I had finished my work, I intended to relieve my stress by visiting Leon at his luxurious house.

Leon is my fiancé, the owner of a tobacco business and the holder of the eastern territory; we both manage businesses inherited from our fathers. I met Leon five years ago before my father passed away; our meeting was initiated by our parents, a promise to bind and expand our businesses together; from there we started our relationship.

Before I left, I checked my phone and just remembered that earlier today I had asked my best friend and right-hand person to send the documents to Leon. Veronica didn't reply to my message, even though she usually always confirms when her task is done. I tried calling her, but Veronica didn't answer. It was a pretty important document, but considering Veronica never neglects her duties, I tried to stay calm and just wait for news from her.

When I arrived at Leon's house, I was quite surprised because there were no maids bustling around in his grand house. Only a guard at the front door and gate did I find earlier, while inside it was very quiet. I tried to find Leon in his room; usually, he would have returned from his work and always came home on time.

The bedroom door was not locked, and the lights were not turned on, making the room look dim. When I entered, someone suddenly gasped, our gazes met, and we were both in disbelief. Veronica was in my fiancé Leon's room without a stitch of clothing on her body, a lit cigarette falling from between her fingers. Veronica froze for a moment until she realized her nudity and searched for clothes to cover her bare body.

"Is this what you do behind my back?" I looked at Veronica with a disappointed gaze. Veronica is not a stranger in my life; I knew her before I knew Leon. Eleven years we have been together; I consider her like my own sister. Veronica is also someone I consider the most sincere after I took over my father's business. In fact, she prepared a thorn behind my back.

"Reinhardt, I'm just stopping by to take a shower here. Really, I'm just feeling hot, and I've already asked Leon for permission." Veronica said quickly while putting on her clothes.

"WHERE IS LEONARD?" I shouted loudly, causing Veronica to flinch and the clothes she was holding to fall.

"I can explain it, Reinhardt. Nothing really happened." And who would believe the words of a naked woman in your fiancé's private room?

"I ASK YOU WHERE LEONARD IS?" I reached for the gun that I always kept in the pocket of my coat. Veronica trembled with fear; she knew I was a cruel woman, especially towards a traitor.

"Really, he's not here," said Veronica.

"I could kill you right now, and you wouldn't have any excuse for being naked in my fiancé's room." The fearful expression suddenly vanished, replaced by Veronica's annoying flat face.

"If you kill me, what will happen to Leon?" Veronica's words indirectly confirmed everything.

"You will take refuge with him?" Veronica nodded. While adjusting her clothes, she took a new cigarette and took a puff in front of me.

"Of course, he loves me, and he needs my warmth. While you can't let go of him because of your late father's promise. You are just a tool, Reinhardt." At that moment, I had already pulled the trigger of my gun, ready to shoot the woman who had worn her mask in front of me for eleven years.

"Why did you do this to me?" I still gave her a chance to speak; I wanted to know why she repaid all my trust and kindness with betrayal.

"Because I want to be you, I want to be the child of Mr. Orla, the respected holder of the southern territory. When you met Leon, the son and successor of the eastern territory, I wondered why you had no flaws. It turns out the gap is with Leon; he said your game is not fun. You can't burn him in bed, and—"

"ENOUGH! You think it's easy being me? But here's the thing: I'm not the type of person who forgets someone's good side because of their bad deeds. I know you were once good and helped me several times, so I will only send you a termination letter. Veronica Russell, at this moment you are no longer my trusted person." Veronica shrugged her shoulders, as if it were nothing.

"But don't get too happy yet; at least you have to feel a bit of my punch."

Veronica staggered; she fainted after realizing fresh blood was coming out of her nose. I left Leon's room while wiping my hands, remnants of hitting Veronica. As I was heading out of Leon's house to leave, I ran into Leon carrying a lot of groceries in his hands. I wouldn't have thought Veronica would trap Leon; I know they really cheated and slept together behind my back—because the many red marks on Leon's neck answered everything.

Veronica might think that by getting Leon, she could bring me down; she thinks I love Leon to the point of madness, but I just don't like any form of betrayal. Anyone who betrays must face severe consequences. Veronica misjudged me because she thought I was her friend; she didn't know that the harsh life of a mafia made me unhesitant to do anything.

"Rein? Since when have you been here?" Leon looked surprised; from his uncomfortable movements, I could tell he was trying to hide the redness in his neck."Just now, since it was quiet, I was planning to go home again." Let's see which mask is thicker, Leonard.
