CHAPTER 1

OLIVIA MARTINS

"Look at her, what a slut."

I ignore the whispers and stares as I walk down the hallway of my high school. It wasn't new to me: the insults, the disgusted looks they threw at me. I should have gotten used to it by now. But I haven't. It doesn't hurt any less after a thousand times, and I still feel the burn in my cheeks when their stares get too unbearable.

I keep my head down and increase my pace, counting my steps until I'm out of school, where I won't be able to hear their murmurs and whispers anymore. The blast of air that hits me as I step out of the school walls is refreshing, calming the storm raging in me.

You might wonder why I put up with it. Well, it's because I have no other option. As an omega, I don't. I listen, obey, and do what I'm told without questions. It's been that way for as long as I can remember.

My opinions don't matter, my feelings are ignored, and the only reason I've not been kicked out is because of Caspian, the son of the alpha and my best friend in the whole world. We've been friends since we were little, until a while ago when our friendship developed into more. And ever since the pack found out, the maltreatment has only gotten worse.

Caspian's mother, the Alpha's mate and the Luna of the pack, has always taken great pleasure in reminding me of my place in the pack. But her dislike of me has only gotten worse since Caspian and I started dating. She wasted no chance to rub my face that I'd never be good enough for her son. As the next alpha of the pack, Caspian's fated mate will be strong, worthy to be the Luna of the pack, not a weak omega like me.

So I try to avoid her every time Caspian and I meet at his house. Like I did today, when I told him that I had something to do and left school early, without him. I didn't tell him the real reason, though—that his mother had warned me to stay away from him the last time she caught me sneaking out of his room.

"What took you so long?" he said as I entered his room, his lips brushing my neck in a way that made my knees weak.

I wanted to make sure your mom was out, I thought, but I didn't say that. "Homework." I mumbled, wrapping my arms around his neck.

"I didn't see you after school," he murmured. "I could've given you a ride here." He said with a frown.

I shrugged, pulling him for a kiss to distract him. It worked.

We spent the rest of the afternoon cuddling, lost in each other. Once we'd caught our breath, Caspian propped himself above me, his fingers tracing gentle patterns on my lower back. I was still a bit dazed, coming off the high.

I heard him call my name, and I hummed, absentmindedly. "Olivia," he called again, snapping me back to reality.

I must have lost track of time because before I knew it, the sun was setting. "Oh shit." I stood up in a rush. "What time is it?" I asked, grabbing my things from the floor.

"Not time for you to leave," he said. "Come here." He gestured for me to move closer.

I didn't move. I needed to leave, and if I listened to him, he wouldn't let me. "I have to go," I insisted.

He closed the distance between us, his fingers tangling in my hair as he angled my head for a kiss.

I turned away. "I really need to go."

"Stay for a little bit." He said, turning my face to his, placing a soft kiss on my lips.

I shook my head, but he only kissed me harder.

"Your mom will be back soon." I reminded him, once he finally released my lips from the brutal kiss.

Don't talk about my mom when I'm about to fuck you." He whispered before lifting me in his arms, and I forgot the reason I was in such a rush to leave.

I carefully pulled away from him, slipping from the bed quietly, to make sure I don't wake him. I gathered my clothes from the floor and got dressed, pulling on my shoes and grabbing my backpack before heading out.

All the while I prayed I wouldn't run into Luna Storm, Caspian's mother. She hated me, and I'd been doing everything to avoid her.

She had it in her mind that I'd somehow bewitched Caspian, as there was no other explanation for him wanting me instead of her precious Bridget, the daughter of the pack beta. She's been doing everything possible to separate us since we got together romantically a few months ago.

No one understood why the son of the Alpha would want to hang out with the daughter of an omega whore, but Caspian didn't care about any of that.

He didn't care that my mother was an omega, and he didn't care that I'd probably reveal as one too. The connection between us had always been there, but we'd fought it to conform to the rules of our society. We knew that our relationship wouldn't be accepted in the pack. Then, one day, we gave in, and it was amazing.

As I stepped into the hallway. I let out a silent curse. Luna Storm stood at the end of the hall, her arms folded across her chest, her eyes shooting daggers my way.

I avoided my gaze, intending to slip past her, but her voice cut through my escape.

"Didn't I make myself clear? I forbade you from seeing my son. What part of that didn't you understand?" She spat, her voice filled with venom, glaring at me.
