Chapter 6
The wounded boy got back to consciousness in less than thirty minutes. He lay on the treatment bed, and his father sat beside him. I watched them engage in a conversation, but I didn't pay attention to what they were saying. I sat down on the end of the tent canvas, thinking about everything that had happened earlier.
That was my first time seeing Casper in a wolf form. I have not seen Casper shift before, not to mention knowing he was an Alpha. Sitting there a lot of other things ran through my head.
Selfish, Ryanna. One of my thoughts barked at me. You stood by your son who almost took the life of another man's child. Is this how you would help people outside?
It went on. How will they believe you? How will they trust you? You who couldn't judge rightly.
As I sat down alone I turned my face around countless times, frowned, and shook my head. I spanked my lap, clenched my fist, and looked up at the roof.
This is bad, this is bad. Oh, Damn it! I whispered in my mind. I couldn't bear the guilt. I stood up from where I sat and walked out of the tent.
The image of the beautiful silver wolf flashed into my mind again, his crimson-burning eyes staring at me. I thought I was the only silver wolf, another reason why I was maltreated in the Moonskin pack. They all thought I was cursed because I had a different skin color from everyone else whenever I changed into a wolf form.
The only difference between my wolf and that of my Casper was the deep blue eyes like the depth of a sea that my wolf possessed. The memory of what I went through in the Moonskin pack troubled my heart like two disagreeing parties dragging a matter.
If we both return to the Lycan region Casper might be maltreated like I was. I wouldn't let that happen. I have to get him prepared, I said in my mind while I walked strongly. My feet were brushing the ground forcefully, my eyes were fixed ahead, and I didn't care to answer or pay attention to anything around me.
I got to my tent, pushed the canvas open, and entered hard. Casper stood up from where he sat looking at me. My eyes met his and I kept a stern face, I clenched my fist and after a few seconds, I turned away and paced around the room.
"Mom..."
"Don't you dare call me!" I retorted sharply and instantly. I stood still and exhaled, my face down. "What happened between you and the boy?"
"Mom..." He walked closer but I glared at him and he stopped where he was. "He... He was disrespectful," he said looking away.
I boiled with anger. I had never been this furious for a long time, "You say what?" I shut my eyes and let out a slow breath. "So, because someone was disrespectful to you, you had to beat him up that way. Who the hell do you think you are?! A god?!!"
"He spoke about your mom, I can't just stand there and watch someone say that about my mother!"
"What did he say?" Casper looked away. "Look at me when I'm talking to you, Casper!" He turned back his austere face to me. "What did he say?"
"He called you Tyrion's mistress." I felt a stick in my chest. Tyrion's mistress? "He went further to say Tyrion had been without a mate for ages and had to use my mom to blow off the heat. How dare he say that to me?!"
"If those men had not gotten there I swear to the moon goddess that I would have killed him. I don't regret my actions, Mom. If such will happen again I will do the same thing to anyone who thinks he is."
"You have to learn to control your temper, Casper. This is the real world and you are not a boss to anyone. Do you know how many times my family whom I never knew were called all kinds of names and all kinds of things said to them before my very face?"
"That was because you don't know them. You never had a family so why would you care what anyone says to you?" I raised my hand to hit him but then I paused, leaving it hanging in the air. I grit my teeth and press my lips together, my hand trembles lightly and I bring it down. I turned away from him and moved to the exit of the tent.
"Hit me if you want, Mom. You know I'm right!" He said as I was leaving. "You are all I have." He said and then I stood still as I got to the exit.
You said what?
"I don't have a dad or any other family. The few times I had gone hunting I had seen lycan kids without a mom or dad," he said, his voice was firm but I could feel he was trembling inside.
"One day I went to hunt inside the forest. I hid in a large tree, and I saw Osiris. He killed a mother right before her little sons. They gathered around her corpse while he walked away like he was a god."
He sniffed, "I got back to the camp, and imagined I was like those kids." I turned my face back and saw tears running down his cheek.
"I felt for them, but I wasn't scared of what I saw because I will never be like those kids." Those words struck me.
"What?"
"Yes. You heard me right, Mom" He kept a stern face, void of fear or sadness, just wrath, and boldness. "I will never be like them because I won't stay back looking at your corpse."
"Whoever dares to threaten you, touch you, or disrespect you... I will kill him, and I won't care what may happen after."
