Chapter 8 Divorce Agreement
Matthew violently jerked his arm away the moment the housekeeper touched his wrist.
"Damn it! God, that hurts like hell," he hissed.
Matthew stared at the dense red rash spreading across his wrist, his expression contorting slightly from the pain.
"Oh my goodness! What happened? Sir, do you need me to call an ambulance?" The waitress panicked, her eyes wide with fear. In that moment, she imagined losing her job or facing a lawsuit.
"I'm fine. Probably just had an allergic reaction this morning. I have medication with me. You can go now," Matthew waved her away.
The waitress sighed with relief, thanked him, and quickly retreated.
Matthew rummaged through the pile of scattered clothes on the floor until he found his medication. He popped a pill into his mouth.
Wesley shook his head as he examined the red rash on Matthew's wrist.
"Looks like your condition hasn't improved. You're not allergic to specific people. Wait a minute—are you sure the person last night was a woman?"
Wesley gave Matthew a strange look, scanning him up and down before focusing his attention on Matthew's backside.
Wesley knew Matthew well. His condition was bizarre—even his mother couldn't touch him, but contact with men never triggered any reaction.
"You didn't hook up with some dude in drag last night, did you? I just read about this guy wearing a wig who had sex with multiple men. Hope your backside is still intact."
Wesley's face wore a teasing smile as he playfully slapped Matthew's butt.
Matthew shot him a fierce glare.
"Can you shut your damn mouth? The lights were on last night. I saw her clearly. She was definitely a woman—a gorgeous one at that."
Wesley noticed Matthew's determined expression and furrowed his brow. "But dude, you're married. This counts as cheating."
"Don't tell me you're planning to get divorced? Come on, you've been married for what—less than a week?"
"But I've made my decision. That woman only married me for money anyway. I'll just give her enough cash to make up for the cheating."
Matthew's tone was casual.
He felt no guilt whatsoever. From the beginning, it had been a transaction based on mutual benefit with no real feelings involved. At worst, a marriage ending so quickly might make the news, but that could be handled with money.
"Well, if you've made up your mind, I won't stop you. By the way, do you have a photo of that woman? I'm curious to see what a woman you'd actually call beautiful looks like."
Wesley's face lit up with curiosity.
Matthew hesitated before opening his phone's gallery. The photo he'd sent to John yesterday was still there.
"You know a lot of women. See if you recognize her," Matthew said, showing Wesley the screen.
Wesley stared at the woman in the photo, feeling a strong sense of familiarity. After looking for a few more seconds, his expression turned peculiar.
"You don't recognize this woman? That's surprisingly shocking."
Matthew shook his head.
"I've never seen her before. From your reaction, is she some kind of celebrity? You know I have zero interest in the entertainment industry. The family has people who handle that business—I just sign the papers."
"No, no, no. She's not a celebrity. She's just an ordinary woman. But you really don't recognize her?"
Wesley stared intently at Matthew, and seeing the genuine confusion on his face, burst into laughter.
"This is incredible! You must really hate women if you don't even recognize her."
Wesley kept slapping Matthew's shoulder, laughing so hard that tears formed in his eyes.
"Can you stop speaking in riddles? Who is she? Why should I know her?" Matthew frowned deeply, impatiently brushing Wesley's hand away.
Wesley was about to reveal Olivia's identity but suddenly stopped. A mischievous idea had occurred to him.
"I definitely know who this woman is, but I'm not going to tell you. Some things you need to discover for yourself. Oh, and once your divorce agreement is ready, take it to your wife personally!"
Wesley winked at Matthew mysteriously.
Matthew's face fell as he grabbed a slipper from the floor and threw it at Wesley.
Wesley dodged it and ran off laughing, still refusing to reveal the woman's identity.
"I hate people who talk in riddles! If you won't tell me, fine. I'll have John look into it. He'll find out who she is," Matthew shouted after Wesley's retreating figure before leaving the hotel.
Meanwhile, Olivia had no idea that her husband was about to dump her. After leaving the hotel, she hadn't returned to the Howard Manor but instead went back to the Smith villa.
Seraphina froze for a moment when she saw Olivia arrive early in the morning, then let out a shrill cry.
"Olivia! What are you doing back here? Shouldn't you be at the Howard Manor?"
Seraphina's scream brought Nathan and Aurora Smith rushing over.
Aurora immediately noticed something wrong with Olivia's clothes and quickly grabbed her father's arm.
"Dad, Olivia is wearing men's clothes."
Nathan's expression changed instantly. "Why are you wearing men's clothes? What's going on? Have you been cheating?"
Nathan glared at her, his face turning red with anger and anxiety.
Olivia hesitated before finally saying, "I might have cheated. I got drunk last night and slept with a man."
"You bitch! You'll ruin us all!" Nathan felt so dizzy at the news that he nearly fell backward.
"Olivia, you've doomed our entire family," Seraphina said, her face turning pale as she steadied Nathan.
"You bitch! I'll kill you!" Nathan straightened up and raised his hand, ready to slap Olivia across the face.
But Olivia caught his hand and calmly said, "Dad, if you still want the investment of the Howard family, you'll do exactly as I say."
