Chapter 3
Olivia smirked and asked, "Christopher's awake, isn't he?"
Cleo was taken aback and replied, "Yeah."
"Then it's time for him to pay up." Olivia strode out of the room.
Chase hurried to follow, once again escorting her back to the hospital.
As they climbed the stairs, Chase asked, "Great Aunt, what do you want from Christopher?"
Olivia shot him a sharp look, like a blade. Chase immediately shut his mouth, feeling as if he were frozen in place, watching Olivia disappear from his sight in a flash.
In the hospital room, Olivia entered and locked the door behind her.
Christopher was indeed awake, but he looked drained, sitting listlessly on the bed. Hearing the noise, he slowly lifted his head, revealing his striking features.
His skin was pale, and his bone structure was beautiful, with a hint of lazy indifference in his expression.
Olivia didn't recognize him; her past memories held no trace of this man. She only knew through their blood bond that he was one of the two original vampires in existence.
Christopher looked puzzled and questioned, "Who are you...?"
Olivia walked up to him, grabbed his collar, and stared at his pale neck, where his veins pulsed with a subtle, inexplicable allure.
Her eyes turned blood-red, and she said, "I'm here to collect some interest."
Before Christopher could react, Olivia bent down, her tongue brushing against his neck, followed by a sharp pain.
He felt Olivia drinking his blood.
He didn't know how long it lasted, but having just woken up, his body was already weak. Instinctively, he tried to push her away.
Olivia finally let go, licking the wound on his neck, which healed instantly.
Christopher panted slightly, watching Olivia's fangs retract, her lips stained a vivid red from his blood.
He touched his neck. If not for the lingering pain, it would have seemed like nothing had happened.
He looked at Olivia calmly and questioned, "Are you a vampire?"
Though it was a question, his tone was certain.
Olivia stared at him and answered, "Yes, and I could drain you dry."
Christopher unbuttoned his shirt, smiling gently. "Alright, take what you need. Consider it a thank you for saving my life."
Their eyes met, both gazes cold and indifferent.
Cleo entered the room belatedly.
Olivia's eyes returned to their normal blue, and she wiped the blood from her mouth.
Cleo, seeing nothing amiss, felt an inexplicable sense of relief. She had just sensed something off in Olivia's gaze, like she was ready to devour someone.
Olivia looked at Cleo and said calmly, "Don't get too happy. Your son may be awake, but his blood has been replaced, and his fate altered. Getting it back won't be easy. Until then, he has to stay with me to avoid any further misfortune."
Everyone in the room was stunned. Cleo urgently asked, "What do you mean by replaced blood and stolen fate?"
Olivia said, "I saw his fate. He was destined for great wealth and fortune, what you might call a child of destiny."
Olivia added, "As for the blood, the Bloody Magic Array replaced all his blood, making it quite unappetizing."
Cleo focused on the important part, asking anxiously, "What can we do? Will Christopher be alright?"
Chase supported Cleo's trembling body and said, "Mrs. Taylor, please calm down and listen to what Great Aunt has to say."
Cleo tried to steady herself, waiting for Olivia's response.
Olivia explained, "His fate was stolen through a blood replacement. His misfortune will bring luck to the one who took his fate. The connection between them is well-hidden, making it hard to sever. It will require the right time, place, and people. I need to prepare."
Olivia continued, "Additionally, this situation has a downside. Since you are blood relatives, your misfortune will decrease your family's luck, while the other family's luck will increase. This has likely been going on for some time."
Olivia looked at Cleo with a probing gaze. "Your fate shows a missing family member. You should have another daughter."
Cleo was shocked that Olivia could see this, her heart tightening.
Cleo closed her eyes, pain evident in her expression. "I did have a daughter, but her father didn't like her because she was a girl, so..."
"She was killed?" Olivia asked.
Cleo's body trembled, and she nodded stiffly.
Olivia scoffed, her tone mocking. "That girl was a blessing. Her early death is why your branch of the Taylor family is in such a state."
Cleo bit her lip, feeling dizzy. If not for Chase's support, she might have fainted.
But this was the Taylor family's business, not hers.
Olivia turned back to Christopher. "If you don't want to be unlucky, come with me today."
Christopher hesitated, but then remembered the past twenty minutes since he woke up. He had been bedridden, choked on water, had a nurse miss his vein ten times, and nearly fell off the bed twice.
Christopher asked, "Will following you stop my bad luck?"
Olivia nodded. "Yes."
Cleo was worried and reluctant, but she had no choice. She watched Christopher leave with a heavy heart.
Christopher changed into a white shirt and black pants, his long hair falling loosely, making him look even more fragile.
Olivia followed him, her gaze fixed on his neck.
Christopher felt a chill down his spine.
He turned back, looking at Olivia. "Didn't you say my blood wasn't tasty? Why are you still staring?"
Olivia replied, "Even if it's not tasty, it's at least clean."
Christopher's eyes narrowed slightly. "Then let me recover first. If I die from blood loss, you won't have a blood bag."
Chase listened to their conversation, feeling a bit creeped out.
They soon reached Hayden's room.
The room was filled with people, all with different thoughts as they saw Hayden, who had been on the brink of death, suddenly looking better.
Olivia ignored them and went straight to Hayden. "How are you feeling?"
"Much better. I'll be discharged tonight." Hayden tried to kneel, but Olivia stopped him.
Hayden asked worriedly, "What about the Taylor family? Did Christopher wake up?"
Olivia added, "Yes, but his blood was replaced, and his fate stolen. He's with me now."
Hayden nodded and addressed others in the room. "Ms. Smith is the head of the Thomas family. All Thomas family members must respect and protect her. Any disobedience will result in expulsion from the family, no exceptions!"
