Chapter 14
Annalise looked at the man sitting in the car with her. No matter how many times she looked, she had to admit that she could not help being smitten by him. He was very handsome.
With his blond hair, deep sea blue eyes and those lashes...he really did look handsome. For a second, she forgot about his question. But then his constant gaze brought her back to the present. But why did he ask her that? It was only one meeting after all. Nevertheless, Annalise found herself replying, "No."
Zayn smiled. It seemed that he did not have any obstacles right now. When he saw her zone out in the restaurant just now, he had thought that it was because she had a boyfriend and she was in a bad mood because of him. It was something that he wanted to ask her all night long. It was good that he could finally gather his courage to ask. Actually, ever since he saw her that day when she quit her job decisively, he had been interested in her. "Alright then. Goodnight." Zayn said.
Annalise was about to get down from the car when she felt his warm lips on hers. She was too shocked to do anything, making him break the kiss. She hastily got down and wished him a good night. She watched as the car zoomed away in the distance, touching her lips. She had to admit that it had been a really weird night for her. First, she found out that her landlord was this guy, then she went on a dinner date with him and now he asked her if she had a boyfriend and kissed her. All in one night.
His question got her curious though. Why did he want to know?
'What is going on here?' she wondered and mentally facepalmed.
Annalise decided not to think about it and just went home, the feeling of the short kiss lingering in her mind. Immediately she entered her house, the main thing on her mind was for her to just go to bed and forget about all of these things. She could not help but feel that it was a good thing that Nelly did not call her and ask her to hang out tonight. It was as if she understood how tired she was.
The next day, Annalise was at her salo, working as usual. She was just done with a customer's hair. There was a bright look of satisfaction on her face. Annalise was seriously starting to wonder why she did not do something like this earlier. Why did she have to wait for her to be thoroughly looked down on by her former boss before she decided to change her job? She had to admit that changing her job and deciding to become her own boss was one of her best decisions.
The customer looked at herself in the mirror and she had a satisfied grin on her face. "Wow I really can't believe this. I really love this hairstyle. Now that I've found this place, I'm definitely going to be back. No, in fact, I'm going to come with my girls next time," the lady said. It was obvious that she was still in college. At this stage, what most of these girls cared about was being pretty and hanging out with friends. Annalise did not really care about these details though as long as she could get her job done and earn her money.
Annalise was smiling too. What she liked to hear the most was that her customers are satisfied and that they are going to come back next time. She really liked hearing that. And what's more, she had even promised to bring her friends when she was coming. "Please do visit us again. And spread the word to your friends," Annalise said. If she learned anything from her former job it was to always leave a good impression on her customers.
The girl nodded over and over before she left. It was actually quite obvious that she was happy with what she had done with her hair.
Annalise sat down on her chair to wait for her next customer. For some strange reason, her mind drifted back to the man that she had dinner with yesterday. His beautiful face and blond hair kept playing over and over again in her mind. She kept thinking about the question he had asked her. "Do you have a boyfriend?" She could still hear his voice in her head.
Annalise had told herself that she was going to give herself a break from relationships. So far, all her relationships had not turned out well in the end. So many different things were always happening. She had not met a single good man. Just when she thought that things were going to work out between her and Dalton, he actually did not spare any efforts to leave her when she was at her lowest. She told herself that she really needed a break from all that.
Annalise raised her head to see someone staring at her. She was shocked. "Nelly! What the hell do you think that you are doing? Are you trying to scare me?!" she cried.
Nelly was angry. "I've been here for some time now and I've been talking to you but you didn't hear me. What are you thinking about?" Nelly asked.
Annalise shook her head. "Nothing...I just zoned out, it's nothing serious" Annalise said.
Nelly looked at her. She felt like she was really acting weird this time. She asked Annalise, "Where were you yesterday?"
