Chapter4
King Scott
We galloped to the mountains at full speed and we finally got there at nightfall and I had hoped we got there in time before the ritual started. Once we got to the village, we heard the villagers banging on the drums and then King William said to me.
"Oh no, the ritual has started, come on!"
William spurred his horse and I followed after him. Leo rode next to us and he said to me.
"Your majesty! allow me and Prince Tobias to go on ahead and rescue the Princess."
"Go and be careful!"
"Yes, sir!"
Leo spurred his horse and he went ahead of us along with our men and Prince Tobias.
Leo
We got to the village and then we fought our way through the men who tried to stop us. I swung my sword leg and right while taking down those guards and then Prince Tobias kept one alive.
"Where is she?!"
"Who?"
"Princess Kassandra! where is she?!"
"You're too late!"
Suddenly, we heard roaring from the distance and then Prince Tobias whispered.
"What was that?"
Suddenly, we heard someone scream and that's when I realised it was Kassandra. Prince Tobias and I ran towards the source of the screaming. Once the King and our men showed up, we charged to the gates when we heard growling from the other side and then we heard someone scream for help.
"My daughter! hurry!"
We tried to open the gates but, the fake prince, the leader and the other priests stopped us.
"No one will interrupt the ritual!"
"Out of the way! my daughter is over there with that overgrown lizard!"
"You're too late, Drago will take her away and claim her as his mate!"
The King looked angry and then we heard Kassandra shouting.
"No! put me down!!"
"Kassandra!!" I shouted and then I punched the leader in the face before bust opening the gates.
By the time we got the gates opened, it was too late. A black dragon captured Kassandra and then he took off into the sky with her and I heard her screaming.
"No!!" King Scott shouted before he ran after the dragon but, I stopped him.
"Your majesty, don't! we're too late!"
"Kassandra!!" King Scott shouted in despair.
I was shocked and angered by this and then I glared at the chief. I grabbed him by the collar.
"Why?! why did you take her from us and where has that monster taken her?!!"
"Drago has taken his mate back to his home. The Dragon horde has been coming here for many years and it is past the forbidden forest. You will need wings if you want to find her, which I doubt you will because the witches and other creatures have worked together to keep you out."
I growled before King Scott spoke up.
"Leo, that's enough."
I looked at the King with a shocked look and he had fallen onto his knees in despair.
"He's right...there's no way we can go after them...that forest is a death trap...the maidens that have been taken from their homes have ever been seen again...and now Kassandra is one of them..."
"But King Scott, you mustn't lose hope! please give us the order to go after them and we'll bring them back!"
"Don't bother!"
I sighed a little and then I released the chef's collar. The chef smirked at the King and he told them.
"If anyone is to blame for losing the Princess, it's you."
I frowned angrily as he continued, "If you hadn't exiled us and the other creatures from Cassina then maybe Kassandra would still be here."
"That's because a dragon killed my wife!" King Scott yelled at him.
"Did he? are you sure about that? because the dragons were peaceful until something happened and from what we've been told by our elders, a Dragon wasn't responsible and you know it."
King Scott's eyes widen and then I asked him.
"What's he talking about, your majesty?"
"Nothing... Leo, I changed my mind, we're heading back to the castle to do some planning and once we get back here, we'll find and rescue Kassandra."
I smiled at his new confidence and then I ordered my men.
"Secure the village and make sure no one comes in or out!"
"Yes, sir!"
My men shouted as King Scott, King William and Prince Tobias headed back to the castle.
'Kassandra, please be safe.'
I thought to myself as I glanced back at the mountains where that Dragon flew off with Kassandra.
Kassandra
The black dragon flew through the sky with me in his hand. The dragon held onto me tightly and he refused to let me go. I held onto his talons for dear life since we were so high up in the sky.
I tried my best not to look down a few times but, it was scary especially since this particular dragon was the same one from my vision. However, it didn't show me what was going to happen next.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked in a shaky breath.
The dragon growled a little and that wasn't much of an answer. The sky started to clear of the clouds and then I saw a mountain and then the black dragon flew towards it. We flew into a tunnel and when we came out of it I spotted a large area that was surrounded by a large forest, a lake with a waterfall and there is also a cave.
The black dragon flew towards the cave and then he lands onto the ground before walking into the cave. We walked through the cave and I noticed there was some cave painting/drawings. I wasn't sure what they mean until the dragon had taken me to some kind of treasure room. I saw a massive pile of gold, gems and there were some animal skin rugs and an animal skin bed. I struggled to get out of his grip again and I shouted.
"Let me go! Put me down, you overgrown lizard!!"
I punched his fingers and then the black dragon growled a little before dropping me onto the ground. I shook my head and I rubbed my backside and mumbled.
"That's gonna hurt in the morning."
I stood up from the ground and I wiped the dust off my skirt before the dragon nudged his head at me. I gasped in fear and then he nudged his snout at me. I backed away from him a few times until my back was pressed against the wall. The dragon sniffed me a few times and he began to rub his snout against me.
"Ah! hey! what are you doing?! Stop it!"
The black dragon stopped nudging his snout at me until I fell onto my backside. I heard the dragon grumble a little which made me think he was laughing a little. I glared at him and I shouted.
"What are you laughing at?!"
The dragon gave me a soft look before he nudges me a little to help me up and then he gently pushes me with his snout. Just then, I felt something soft on my bare feet and when I looked down it was animal fur. The dragon gave me one more nudge and then I landed on the soft animal skin rugs. I pulled my knees up to my chest and then the dragon curled around me and so his tail and wing were in my way.
The dragon yawned a little and I took a glance at his teeth and that made me scared. I scooted away from him but, the black dragon used his hand to stop me from going too far and I flinched a little as he pulled me back towards him. I looked at the dragon in fear as he curled his fingers a little to stop me escaping. I watched the dragon staring at me a few moments until he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
I managed to calm down and then I checked to make sure the black dragon was asleep before attempting to climb out of his hand but, he curled up his talons to prevent me from escaping. I tried to move again but, the sleeping dragon wasn't letting me escape so I had no choice but, to stay where I am.
I lowered my body a little so I got comfy to fall asleep. I glanced at the dragon and remembered the events from earlier. I started trembling and I began to cry. I buried my face in the dragon's scales before crying myself to sleep.
