In a world where werewolves and vampires roam freely among humans, Lyra Laine is a lonely, resourceful 19-year-old girl living in New York City. Her only goal is to raise enough money to flee to Canada, in order to put several states between her and Carlos, her stepfather, a gang leader, who has decided to make her his thing.
