Chapter 3: The Cursed Whitebrook Castle

Whitebrook Castle

2020

Amelia Saumoux

Later that day after our classes were over, I headed back to my place and I got the necessary items we needed to check out the castle such as a flashlight, our phones, food in case we get hungry and a camera in case we see something spooky. Ryan's words, not mine.

After I told my grandparents that I've prepared tonight's dinner and I'll make it later since I told them I was meeting up with Sarah at the shopping mall. I got changed into my navy blue hoodie, a black t-shirt, grey skinny jeans and black and white canvas shoes.

I grabbed my bag and I left the house to meet up with Sarah and Ryan. I got to the main gates of the castle and Sarah was the first one to arrive.

'There you are, have you seen, Ryan?"

'No, I just got here myself. Maybe he's running late."

I told her as I looked at my watch. It was at 4:30 pm and Ryan wasn't here yet. Suddenly someone grabbed Sarah's shoulder and she screamed in fear.

'Gotcha! hahaha!!" Ryan had snuck up behind Sarah and scared her.

'What the hell is the matter with you?! you scared me!"

'Sorry, I couldn't resist. Anyway, I found a way in, come on."

'Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" I mumbled as I followed after Sarah and Ryan.

Ryan found a hole in the metal fence where the government built the fence around the castle and then we went through it. We walked over to the entrance and it looked creepy with the sun setting sky background and a few bats came flying out of the broken windows. Sarah gulped and she said to us.

'Maybe this wasn't such a good idea, let's go back."

'What are you? a scaredy-cat? we haven't been inside yet."

Ryan told her as he tried to open the large doors and they weren't budging.

'Oh man, it's stuck. I thought for sure those highschool students left it open for us."

'Oh gee, that's too bad. Let's get outta here before we get caught by security."

'Good idea," Sarah spoke up as we turned to leave.

Suddenly, the doors opened by themselves as a loud creaking sound appeared.

'Tell me I wasn't the only one who witnessed the doors opening by themselves?"

'Nope, you were not."

Ryan told us before looking inside. I peeked inside as well and I asked him.

'Do you think anyone is here? like the security guards?"

'I can't see anyone, it's too dark, hang on."

Ryan got his flashlight and then he pointed it around the main entrance of the castle and it was creepy as hell. The walls were falling apart, the once beautiful portraits were torn to shreds and worn out, the floors were cracked and a few bushes were growing near the walls and floors.

Sarah gripped onto my hoodie for dear life as we slowly and quietly entered the castle. Suddenly, the doors closed on us, making us jump in fright.

'Uh, chuckles nervously must have been the wind," Ryan told us.

'Yeah, sure, the wind t-that's probably the cause of it."

Sarah spoke with a hint of nervousness in her voice. We continued to look around and then Ryan said to us.

'All right, let's check out the throne room."

'Do you even know where that is?"

'Gut instinct."

I sighed annoyingly as we looked for the throne room and we eventually found it. Ryan whistled in amusement as he looked around.

'Impressive, the cursed King must have been one mighty royal to have all of this. Hey ladies, check this out."

Ryan sat down on the throne and he started acting like a King.

'All hail King Ryan! ruler of the-"

'Ruler of the knuckleheads," I commented.

'Ruler of the knuckleheads...hey!! you ruined my moment!!"

Sarah and I burst into laughter when I called him that and seeing his reaction. Just then, we heard a loud squeaking sound from the hallway. I hushed the others and I told them.

'Did you hear that?"

'Maybe it was a mouse," Sarah suggested.

Suddenly, we heard another loud squeaking sound from the hallway.

'That's one BIG mouse."

I commented. Ryan got the baseball bat from his backpack, in case we get attacked by something.

'Wait here," Ryan told them before opening the door.

Ryan looked around and the hallway was empty.

'There's no one here."

'Are you sure?" Sarah asked him as we stepped out into the hallway.

'Positive."

I looked left and right and I couldn't see anyone.

'Let's get the hell out of here."

'Not yet, we haven't checked upstairs yet."

'Are you serious?!"

'Just a quick look and then we'll get out of here, I promise."

I rolled my eyes and then we followed after Ryan. We checked out some of the guest rooms, the bathrooms etc. This castle was so creepy and then we got back to the ground floor where it was safer. Just then, I thought I saw something moving in the shadows.

'Did you see that?"

'See what?" Sarah asked me as we looked in the shadows.

'We don't see anything, might have been a rat skulking about."

'Probably."

I said as we left the castle before the security started making their rounds.

I watched the intruders leave the castle. I was about to chase them away until I saw a beautiful golden-haired maiden. I didn't know why, but I felt drawn towards her.

I quietly followed after her and then she got to a house in the city and didn't feel comfortable since I wasn't used to being around large crowds and the humans but I needed to know why I was drawn towards this maiden.

I watched her enter the house and then the upstairs lights came on. I climbed up the vines that were growing on the wall and then I got to the woman's balcony. I looked through her window and she was beautiful.

The woman has golden hair, blue eyes and peachy skin. I smiled to myself and I wondered if she could be the one, the woman to save me from my nightmare.
