Personal guard

Rex

“You can never work beside Boss, you’re not up to his standards, you don’t deserve to lick his feet and I promise you, you’ll never get a job here.” Draco swore as he looked me dead in the eyes and I gritted my teeth although there was nothing I could do.

Dante didn’t give me the chance to speak when I entered the office. He was in a hurry to leave and I was left with Draco who stared at me like a prey.

“Give me a chance—“ I tried to plead but this made him pull me close by my collar.

“This isn’t McDonalds or Starbucks where you get trials. Boss isn’t some cheap ass, he’s got enemies who are jealous of his success and would do anything to bring him down. You are one of them and I’d rather pull a trigger on my head than allow you to come a step closer to him.” Draco spat out and I exhaled.

“I’m capable—“

“Capable isn’t being a gym rat you bitch, all Boss’s personal guards are handpicked and trained by the family in Russia for a minimum of three months and until the first word you say in the morning is privyet, you have no business here.” He glared at me with disgust. I didn’t understand what privyet meant but I made a mental note to check it out later.

“I can prove myself— I can go to Russia—“

“You don’t have to prove any fucking thing, if I catch you snooping around, you won’t have any legs left, and by legs, I mean all three.” He whispered with great seriousness and I took one step back, slightly concerned about my innocent cock.

I had hovered around the bar, hoping I’d see Dante but he never returned and Draco couldn’t stop glaring at me.

Heading home that day, I was filled with rage as I walked on the road, thinking to myself as I tried to think of another way I’d work for Dante. I turned to the dark alley and I paused for a moment at how quiet everywhere was. It was late already and as expected, it was supposed to be empty.

Right before my eyes, I saw a black jeep drive in and my eyes widened with shock when I saw Dante alight from it.

He switched to a small red Toyota car and I was perplexed, there was something fishy about this and I dashed into the closest taxi immediately after he left.

“Follow that car, don’t make it obvious.” I mumbled and he nodded as he began driving at a normal pace. He was neither too close nor was he far.

It was extremely dangerous but this could be this one big thing I needed for my career. If I catch him with drugs then I could send for backup and have him arrested.

I noted the routes we passed, who knows, maybe I’d come back again. We stopped at an abandoned house, it was well painted but hadn’t been occupied for years, this house was at the outskirts of town and I began to experience a sudden unsettling sensation.

I was supposed to send for back up now but stubbornly, something kept pushing me forward and after paying the taxi which had stopped a few houses away, I walked towards his car, blending well with the darkness.

I checked the pocket comb knife in my jacket and signed with relief. It wasn’t much of a protection tool but it could help for a while.

I neared the house, latching myself onto the wall as I tried not to make a sound. I stopped beside the window when I began hearing voices.

“You must help me win this election.” The voice sounded family but without a face, it was difficult to tell who it was.

“Why? Didn’t you pay the Feds a visit? Aren’t you trying to get them on your side? When you have the law already, what more can I do?” Dante answered calmly.

“Don’t fucking play with me! You know I can’t win the election with the help of those fools, I’m only trying to have their support.” He grumbled and I scoffed.

“Fat pig.” I mumbled under my breath, Jerry was an aspiring Governor and this same bastard had stopped by the station a few weeks ago to ask for the support of captain, promising to support us in bringing down the Sinclair family.

My respect for the Sinclair family doubled, they weren’t just a bunch of riffraffs smuggling drugs, they had power in high places and bringing them down seemed even harder than before.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Is this why you asked me to meet you in this shithole without any guard?” Dante questioned, his words filled with a special type of authority.

“I’ll get your ass locked up. The little empire you managed to build, sorry, the one that was handed to you, I’ll destroy it and you’ll be behind bars.” Jerry threatened and Dante chuckled, it was a dark rumble.

I took this time to move closer to the door, happy to watch them from the window. Dante was inside while Jerry was close to the door, he looked tense while Dante had a cool aura.

He looked extremely confident, untouchable and fuck knows what kind of things he had in store to make him completely undaunted.

“I’ll love to see you do that. I have no business with you Jerry and it’s high time you get your fat face out of my business—“

“The world would know you killed the old governor.” He announced and I almost gasped. I shifted my gaze to Dante and much to my amazement, he had a small unbothered smile on his face.

I couldn’t help but notice the way his lips parted and how his nose crinkled whenever he smiled.

“You, Jerry killed the governor. I have proof of you strangling the governor to death and if I release the video, your political career is gone. Don’t push me.” Dante warned, his eyes going dark instantly and I felt my skin crawl with unease.

“You fucking bastard! You’re lying! You fucking killed the governor, you sent one of your pimps to kill him—“

“You killed the governor, Jerry. You killed him because he wasn’t in support of you running as his successor, I’m only keeping this secret for you because you used to be a good friend but now, I can’t promise any favors.” Dante replied and Jerry chuckled.

“You’re going to help me or I promise to have the blood all over this place.” He threatened as he produced a gun from his pocket. This was my call to get backup but I was glued, I wanted to see where this was heading to.

“Get what mothetfucking thing outta my face.” Dante instructed, not the least concerned that he was staring at a Mac-10 gun which was probably untraceable.

“Not until I get what I want. Make that damned call to the reporter and tell them you want Jerry to be the new governor.” Jerry adviced and Dante smiled.

He popped out a cigarette from his pocket while Jerry stared at him with slight fear, his hands were trembling.

I began crawling to the open door, deciding to prove myself to Dante rather than calling for backup. If Jerry got arrested, this would only reduce my chances of working for Dante.

“Take another puff and I promise to blow off your brains—“ Jerry threatened only for him to go stiff when my hand wound around his chest, the comb knife tightly pressed to his neck.

“Wh… Who the fuck are you.” His voice was laden with fear.

“My new personal guard.” Dante announced with a smirk on his face as he blew smoke into the air.
