Familiar Face

Time continues to pass. Alexandra began to adapt to a world she had never imagined before. She had been at Jolla's house for four weeks. During those four weeks, she experienced many things that shocked her. However, she was forced to accept it and get used to it because she didn't know where else to go. Life in the Moonbright Kingdom is almost the same as human life in general: eating, working, looking for a partner, and resting. It's just that the method is different.

“Alexa, hurry up and eat! I have prepared food for you!” shouted Jolla from the kitchen.

Alexandra came out of her bedroom and headed for the kitchen. “Thanks, Jolla. You understand me very well. Sorry for bothering you to make this food." Roast beef plus cow's milk is available on the dining table. During these four weeks, Jolla always prepared food by cooking beef and pork so that Alexandra could eat it. Jolla already considers Alexandra like her own daughter.

"There is no need to overdo it. Eat a lot so your body isn't skinny," Jolla answered with a smile.

Alexandra started eating her food. “I want to work. There's no way I can continue living with you."

"You are sure? Your body is very weak compared to the lycans," said Jolla, looking worried.

"I'm certain. Isn't there a way that I can be like you guys?” Alexandra is very enthusiastic about becoming a strong human so she can survive in the Lycan world.

“There is a way. You must get a bite from one of the lycans," answered Jolla honestly.

"Okay. Bite me.” Alexandra looked at Jolla with full confidence.

“No. I can't do it. It will endanger your life. There is another way, although it is not very effective. However, you can trick the Lycans so that they think you are one of them." Jolla walked over to a drawer. She took out a mini urn. After that, she returned to Alexandra. “This is a special potion I made for you. I've been preparing this since you arrived. This potion will help you have the special scent of a lycan even though your strength cannot resemble that of a lycan in general."

Alexandra took the potion from Jolla's hand. “Thanks. I'll drink it right now.” she said without thinking.

The next day, Alexandra was in a palace. She wanted to apply to be a servant at the palace because, coincidentally, the Moonbright royal palace was hiring quite a lot of workers. Alexandra is waiting for her turn to be interviewed. Being accepted to work in this palace is the biggest dream for all the lycans who inhabit the Moonbright Kingdom. The salary offered is quite attractive and even has a lifetime guarantee. "Hopefully, I will be accepted to work at this palace. I have to live better." Alexandra stroked her stomach. Her pregnancy was unknown to anyone, including Jolla.

“I heard that the new Lycan King is still young. I want to know what his face looks like. Maybe his face is handsome," said a female lycan with short hair who was talking to her friend beside her.

Alexandra, who heard this, only smiled. 'It turns out Lycans also like to gossip,' she thought.

“I'm curious too. My goal in applying for a job here was just to meet the king. Who knows, I might be lucky to be his partner," said the long-haired female lycan. The two female lycans were imagining the appearance of the Lycan King, who was currently being discussed.

"Until now, no one knows what the Lycan King's face looks like. Very weird. Even his life history is impenetrable. Stevan Altair is truly mysterious,” continued the female lycan with great curiosity.

Hearing Stevan's name mentioned made Alexandra widen her eyes. “What? Stevan?” she said in a loud voice. It had been several weeks, and this was the first time she heard Stevan's name mentioned again.

“Please, lower your voice! It's just annoying," scolded the two female lycans behind Alexandra.

Alexandra shook her head. She suddenly felt restless. However, she immediately eliminated all thoughts about Stevan. She knew her ex-boyfriend so well that he couldn't possibly exist in this world. "Why do you hope to see that man again? There's no more bastard Stevan in the Lycan world or the human world. He has died," she muttered softly while stroking her still-flat stomach.

In a luxurious room, there was a man who was sitting on the balcony of his room while enjoying the fresh blood available in a glass. He is a Lycan King.

“Hi, Stevan.” A young man came over. He is Morgan, Stevan's best friend and guard.

“What made you come to see me?” Stevan answered while drinking fresh blood.

"There's one thing I want to tell you," said Morgan, looking unsure whether to say it or not.

"What's that? Say it!” Stevan ordered casually.

“It's about accepting new workers into the palace. This is a list of their names along with the results of the tests that were carried out this morning," said Morgan while handing over some of the papers in question.

Stevan took the paper from Morgan's hand. He began to read, one by one, the names of the participants who had successfully passed stage one. A few seconds later, his eyes immediately widened when he saw that Alexandra's name was listed too. “Is there a photo of a woman named Alexandra? I want to see it."

"Wait." Morgan immediately left the room.

However, not long after, Morgan returned carrying a photo of a woman named Alexandra, which he had taken from the selection committee for new palace workers. "This is the photo."

Stevan closed his eyes. He tried to control his heart and hoped that what was on his mind wasn't true. Alexandra is a very sensitive name for Stevan. That name once gave color to his life. Every time he heard that name mentioned, all the nerves in his body seemed to stop operating. A violent surge began to attack his body. Especially the deepest part of his heart. The woman named Alexandra was his ex-girlfriend, whom he left behind in the human world.

Slowly, Stevan began to open his eyes. His gaze was now focused on a photo of a woman named Alexandra in his hand. His heartbeat seemed to stop.

"Why are you in this world?"
