Chapter 4. Banished By The Pack

Bella’s POV.

My heart sank as Devon rejected me, his eyes blazing with anger. I felt my tears start to fall as he shouted.

“Get your ass out of my room, now!” I looked up at him, my thoughts racing.

Where had I gone wrong? How had I upset him? We had been so close, and now he was so angry. I racked my brain, trying to figure out what I had done.

Suddenly, he roared, “Get out!” and I was snapped out of my thoughts. He was clenching his fists, his face red with rage. I knew I had to get out of there, but I couldn’t leave, accepting this rejection.

I wiped the tears from my face, sniffling as I rose to my feet. I brushed the dirt from my clothes, trying to compose myself. I looked up at Devon, searching his face for some sign of the man I had known, the man I had loved.

“Are you drunk?” I asked, my voice quavering. “Are you on drugs?” His face twisted into a scowl, his eyes filled with rage.

“You dare to ask me that?” he roared, and I froze in terror. I held my hands up in surrender.

“I'm sorry, I'm sorry,” I said, pleading. “I promise I won't ask again. Just tell me — did you take something today? Be honest, please. If you are, come meet me tomorrow, and I'll forgive you. I promise.”

I watched his face, hoping he would take my offer. I was so scared, but I couldn't leave without working things out with Devon. He stared at me, his face contorted with hatred.

“You must be so stupid,” he said, his voice low and dangerous.

“What!” I asked, my jaw dropped.

“You heard me dumbass,” he growled, my wolf winced in pain.

“Did you ever love me?” I asked, my voice breaking. I wiped away the tears that were streaming down my face. I needed to hear the truth, even if it hurt. Devon threw his head back and laughed, a harsh, mocking sound that sent a chill down my spine.

“You really are stupid,” he said, his voice dripping with contempt.

“Did you really think I could ever love an omega like you? It would be an insult to my position.”

My mouth fell open, unable to form words. I had given everything to him, and it had all been for nothing.

“Are you angry with me?” I asked, my voice wavering. “You can just tell me, instead of saying all of this to hurt me.”

I wanted to convince myself that this was just him being angry, that he didn't really mean the things he was saying. But then, he looked at me, his eyes filled with a coldness I had never seen before.

“Oh, darling Bella,” he said, his voice dripping with disdain. “You really think I could love you?” I felt my heart break all over again. “You're nothing but a bad luck charm,” he spat. “I could never love an omega like you.” He turned to leave, and he opened the room door, “Your time is up darling, Get out of my room!” He ordered.

“Why?” I said, my voice breaking. “Why did you lie to me? Why did you make me believe you loved me? Why did you make me spend all of my time with you? Why did you make me think that you cared?”

I felt my wolf stirring inside of me, and I had to fight to keep her under control. I couldn't let her take over, not now. I had to stay in control.

“You're so funny,” he said, laughing at my pain. "You really thought I, Alpha Devon, would love you? You were nothing but a bet. A game to be won.

“A game?” I asked, my voice breaking as I spoke. “You bet on me?” He nodded, a smug smile on his face.

“I had a bet that I could have you at my fingertips,” he said, his eyes darkening. “Not just your hand, but… to get into your pants and make you moan my name and like a Harlot that you are, I got what I wanted.” I felt my cheeks burning as I thought of what he was implying.

“How dare you!” I yelled, my voice filled with rage. “How dare you degrade me like that!” I lunged at him, my hands balled into fists. And without thinking twice, I slapped him.

His eyes narrowed, and I saw his hand move towards his cheek. I could see the prints of my fingers on his face. He looked at me, his face red with anger.

“How dare you slap me,” he growled. “How dare you slap me?”

I could feel my breath coming in short gasps, and I knew I had to get out of this situation. But how? Before I could move, he slammed me against the wall, his hand around my throat. I struggled against his grip, but he was too strong.

“How dare you?” he said again, his voice low and dangerous.

I tried to speak, but I couldn't draw a breath. I could feel my eyes bulging as I struggled to get air into my lungs. I clawed at his hand, but he held me fast.

“I'm going to teach you a lesson,” he said, his voice dark and menacing. “You're going to learn not to defy me. No one ever dares defy me to talk less of an Omega like you have no right.”

“Let….. Let…. Me….go,” I choked out.

“How dare the moon goddess pair me with you, you are nothing but a weak wolf,” he growled, tightening his grip on me.

I could feel the panic rising inside of me. I knew I had to escape, but how? Suddenly, I saw a glint of metal out of the corner of my eye. There, on the table, was a knife. It was a long shot, but it was all I had. With my free hand, I reached out and grabbed the knife.

My fingers closed around the handle, and I felt a surge of hope. I raised the knife and brought it down on his arm, slashing through his sleeve and drawing blood. He howled in pain and released his grip on me, clutching his arm. I took the opportunity to run.

“Guards, get that bitch!” He growled. I didn’t stop I kept on running, I stopped in my tracks when a guard blocked my way, I turned around and saw another guard blocking my view.

Guards were stationed at every door and window, and there was no way out. I rubbed my hair trying to think but nothing was coming. I heard a voice from behind me.

I slowly raised my hands and walked towards them, tears streaming down my face. I had failed. I had failed myself, and my wolf.

I was dragged to a room, and thrown to the floor. I looked up and saw a dark figure looming over me. As my eyes adjusted to the dim light, I noticed that it was him. Devon stood there, a look of cold fury on his face.

“You thought you could get away from me?” he asked, his voice low and menacing. “You thought you could defy me?” I tried to speak, but I couldn't find the words. I was too scared, too ashamed.

“I, Alpha Devon, banish Omega Bella from this pack,” he growled. With those words, I felt a sharp pain in my chest. The pack bond that had connected me to the pack was severed. I fell to my knees, my strength drained from me. I tried to speak, but no words came out. All I could do was beg.

“Please,” I whispered. “Please don't do this. I have nowhere else to go.”

“The punishment takes effect immediately!” He growled.

The guards grabbed me by the arms, lifting me up and carrying me out of the pack house. I struggled against their grip, but it was no use. I was powerless to stop them.

I could only watch as the guards carried me away, and I felt my heart break. I had lost everything. I was alone.

The guards dropped me to the ground at the border of the pack territory, and I stood there, dazed and disoriented. The night air was cold, and I shivered as I tried to get my bearings. I had never been outside the pack's territory before, and I didn't know what to do.

The pack was all I had ever known, and I felt lost and alone. I couldn't believe that this was happening to me. I couldn't believe that the man I had loved all my life was the one who had brought me to this point.

A loud horn pierced the silence, and I froze in terror. I turned to see a large truck barreling toward me, its headlights blinding me. I threw my arms up to block the light, my heart pounding in my chest. And I let out a loud scream……….
