CHAPTER 3

London's POV

My Maybach glided on the smooth road as I navigated the route that would take me home. The gray clouds had cleared up hours ago, leaving a night sky that was doted with stars that looked so close yet so far. The road was almost empty with only two cars on my side of the route including mine. After my make out with Caroline we both went our separate ways and I used that opportunity to go to the most popular bar in the island for a few afternoon drinks. Don't judge a dude for loving alcohol but I don't drink because I'm miserable are anything, I'm what you would call a happy drunk. But usually if I drink and get too drunk I stay at the campus hostel to avoid my parents seeing me drunk cause I'm not one for empathy but no parent will ever be fine with seeing their child being drunk.

The drive home was only thirty minutes from the bar and I arrived in no time. I parked my baby in the large underground garage before stepping out and walking into the main house. As I stepped into the villa, the warm glow of the lighting system enveloped me, adjusting to my preferred brightness and color temperature. My mom's gonna change it anyways, I don't know why this house even bothers. I sighed and walked deeper into the villa.

The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and the soft hum of jazz music obviously by dad floated from the invisible speakers. The marble floors gleamed, reflecting the light from the chandeliers that seem to hover in the air. I strode into the kitchen and found my mother, Lily preparing dinner. Her golden blonde hair was rolled into a messy bun and the sleeves of her navy blue shirt were folded all the way to her elbows as she worked in the kitchen like a pro that she was. When she sensed the presence of someone in kitchen she turned to me and her face lite up like a light bulb when she saw me. Her large blue eyes beamed as she rushed to me and pilled me into a hug.

" Oh, sweetie! Your here!" She started as her usual chirpy self. She pulled away from the hug and pecked me on the cheek. " Ok' since you're already here.... please can you help me set the table" She pointed to the plates and cutleries on the kitchen island before going back to cook.

" Sure" I muttered and carried the plates to the dinning room. I started to set the table when my phone pinged, indicating an incoming message. I dropped the cutleries that I was holding and a news update popped up on the screen of my phone, I settled on one of the seats at table and I clicked on the message but I was not prepared for what I saw.

Five branches of the KE were burnt to the ground all at the same time and fifty five percent of the clan's members where all killed in what looked like a mass mafia massacre. My eyes were as wide as sausages as I scrolled down and each picture showed the five large mansions of the KE literally on fire, and what's even worse is that this fire started only thirty minutes ago. Who in the mother fuckin world would have the balls to challenge the Knight Empire? The Red River Clan? The FBI? Who?! And how could the leader let this happen? I heard his unknown, has never been seen before and nobody even knows his name and those who do get to see him never live to see another day.

But than is that not a good thing if KE is ended? I mean...maybe this is divine retribution. Maybe after this the world might become a better place...well maybe not but the world would be a little safer with the Knight Empire gone. My spirit immediately lifted when I thought of the good that would come from the end of the KE.

" Don sweetie, your plate. We never thought that you were gonna visit t....." My mother walked into the dinning room with a spare plate but she paused at the entrance when she saw me look conflicted. " Sweetie? What's the matter?" She asked in concerned while walking towards me and she sat on the seat near mine. She placed my plate on table and grabbed my hand. " Speak to me"

I blinked a couple of times before I chuckled lightly. " Mom, seriously? I love you but you tend to exaggerate sometimes, I'm just lost in thoughts nothing else" I assured her while stroking the back of her hand.

She sighed before standing up" Alright sweetie but if you really are going through something don't be afraid to come to mommy so we can go through it together, ok ?" She raised her brow, a signature expression of hers that says 'Don't you dare say no are else'.

I chuckled lightly" Yes, mom. I understand" I replied and her face immediately lite up.

" Good" With that she turned and walked back to the kitchen.

With a silly smile I stood up and proceeded to set the table and at that time my father, Raymond walked into the dinning area while fixing his shirt buttons and talking on the phone at the same time. Typical, if you thing my mother is the master of multi-tasking then you have not met my father, the dude can talk on the phone, fix my mother's hair and attend an important meeting all at the same, literally....he actually did that once!

He walked towards me and ruffled my hair" Hey, bud" He said before settle down dropping his phone on the table" How were your classes?" He asked with a ' Did you bother going those very classes?' expression. My mother walked back into dinning area holding a bowl of what looked like chicken salad.

I settled down on my seat " Class was boring dad. So how was your day?" I immediately change the topic with a grin.

He saw right through me but Instead of pushing it he sighed" It was great. We won the Clear Water deal." He announced.

I smiled " Wow, dad, that's amazing! Its only been two days after you started working on getting the deal. Congrats!" He just chuckled.

" That's just typical of your father. The moment he wants something he makes sure he gets it" My mother said while placing the last dish on the table before settling down on her seat beside my father.

" Yeah...but that's one of the reasons why you love me, is it not?" My father asked with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

My mother rolled eyes" Whatever" She muttered and started to dish out her own food. What followed was chatting and laughter as we enjoy our food just like every other dinner at home.

" So..... are you planning on attending classes tomorrow like you did today?" My mom suddenly asked which was followed by silence as they awaited my answer. I Looked down at my food which should have been a clear indication of my answer. When I looked up and my eyes landed on my mother's face and the most disappointed look I ever seen was mirrored on her face.

A huge lump took root in my throat and I instantly lost my appetite. I looked down at my plate unable to meet my mother's gaze, dropped my cutleries and stood up.

" I'll be in my room if you need me" I muttered and with that I walked up to my room without looking back.
