8. From the Vein
My mouth salivated when Theodore said there was A negative. I had not fed from the vein in a while, and the last time I had I was reprimanded for it. It was unfortunate for Theodore because the man he had snapped at to come to him, was the A negative. My gums tingled just thinking about his veins, and I could feel my fangs elongating below my upper lip. Theo stared at me. Leia picked the woman who was B positive and Baron B negative.
Like all vampires we all had preferences, but in the end all blood types sustained us. Theodore had not picked but the two B blood types went to Baron and Leia. The man who was A negative came to stand between Theodore and me. No one had started to feed yet, but my fangs were ready, and I knew if anyone in the Vanguard saw how excited I was over this they would be pissed, but I couldn’t help it. Baron said, “Are you going to pick Theo, I am fucking starving.”
“I will share with Beatrix.” He said and all of us turned our heads to face him. I had never shared a person with anyone. Not once had anyone ever told me that was something to do. In truth I had never given it much thought what sharing a feed was like or even about. No one said anything on it ever, so it never crossed my mind. If it was not good etiquette I didn’t care, all I could think about at the moment was a live feeding with my favorite blood type. Leia went to say “Theo” But he held up his hand and she went quiet.
“Dinner is served. "He said and I about lunged out of my seat. I normally fed from the wrist, but the neck was almost screaming at me. The veins there were more pronounced, and the pulse ran a little faster there. My fangs sunk in and sweetness burst across my tongue. I could feel my throat vibrating as I moaned at the taste. I felt eyes on me and briefly looked keeping my fangs embedded in the neck. Theodore was looking at me from the other side of the man’s jugular.
It felt extremely intimate, but I didn’t pull back. I knew I should, but it just tasted so dam good. It was warm, and I could feel my muscles feeling stronger with every gulp. I was sure drugs had to feel like this. Drinking from a vein, especially when it was your preferred type was intoxicating. I could hear someone speaking but I couldn’t exactly hear what was being said. It was like it was falling away in the background. My eyes remained locked with Theodore’s both of us staring at one another as we were drinking our fill.
I knew when I was full, but I didn’t stop. My mind told me it was time, but my body wanted more. Theodores grey eyes stared back into mine and I could feel my body flushing. I was being turned on by the whole thing. A longing feeling shot through me while I stared at Theodore. Lust, that is what I felt and it was burning through my me with a force that was indescribable. Theodore pulled back removing his teeth from the neck of the man.
I kept my teeth in him, still gulping down the blood. His eyes no longer rested on mine but, I was forcefully jerked back and released the man. Theodore loomed over me. “We don’t kill our vein bound Beatrix.” What?
I looked at the man I had been drinking from, and he looked rather pale. I then noticed it was only the three of us in the room. Where had Leia and Baron gone? Two men in red walked in and I watched as they helped the man, I had been drinking from, up and led him out of the dining room. Had I hurt him? My face must have looked concerned because Theodore said “He will be fine; the other vein bound will make sure he gets some food and vitamins. He will feel better in a few days.”
“So should we get to consummating our marriage now?” He said and I looked at him, his face was calm. I burst out laughing, full on belly tightening laughing. I had to hold onto a chair for stability with how hard I was laughing. I could hear myself reverberating off the walls. But when I looked back at his face, he still looked stoic. This was a joke, it had to be, yet he was not laughing.
“Theodore, I never agreed to marry you. Hell, you never even asked me, so why would you say something so absurd. I knew you were deranged but I had not realized the poison of being a slave to Malachar damaged your brain. In what world did you ever think I would agree to marry you.” I could see his jaw clenching. Good, finally a reaction out of him. If I was going to miserable so was he.
He grabbed my wrists and began to pull me through Astor Hall. He never said anything, not one dam thing till we got to the room he had put me in when I arrived. He shoved me inside, but he didn’t leave. Instead, he stood blocking my exit. “You better get used to this because it is how it is for you now. You are my wife, so get that through your thick skull. You will stay in here the rest of the night and maybe tomorrow you will be grateful for the life I just gave you. If that isn’t enough, you should at least be grateful I saved you from an excruciating death by my master.”
I shook my head back and forth slowly, I had not agreed to this, this was an elaborate joke, something for Theodore to laugh at. Some prank he was pulling on me, like he did when we were kids. “Think hard wife, think really hard, how you were the one who did this to yourself.” My brows came together and as I tried to think. I had been taken to this place, I had gotten clean, and then we had dinner. We drank from the same person, but that didn’t, no it couldn’t be. The realization was on my face, and I saw that irritating smug smirk. “There is my brilliant wife.” I snapped. “Don’t call me that, I am not your fucking wife!”
“Oh yes you are, so you better get used to it. Have fun with your dreams,” His tone dripped in sarcasm. “I can guarantee you, you will wish you consummated our marriage when I offered it to you.” “I would never fuck you, Theodore.” Theodore snorted, “Let’s see how you feel when it reaches about one in the morning and your hand is buried between your thighs.” “You are sick.” I snapped back. He turned and slammed the door shut behind him. I didn’t hear him click a lock or anything like that. I waited for a while before I decided to see if there was a way out of this place. There had to be.
I may not know where Astor Hall was located but, with enough information, I was sure I would find a way to free myself from it. Then the next obstacle would be figuring out how to get the iron off and be able to jump back to headquarters, away from here and away from Theodore Astor. As I opened the door I found Leia, she looked like she was about to knock, but I had opened the door before she had.
“Beatrix,” she said, her voice was soft and calming, I stood there not knowing what to say. I had no qualms with her. She seemed to still be that sweet girl from school, though I was still skeptical considering her current residence, and who she kept for company. I noticed the ring on her finger sparkling, it was a diamond. So, she had gotten married. By the way Baron threw his arm around her earlier it was a safe bet to say he was her husband. “May I come in?” She asked.
I debated with myself, I wanted to go see the rest of the Hall see what I could do to get out of here, but Leia she had been nice growing up and was nothing short of it since I saw her at dinner. I opened the door wider for her to enter. It was clear to me now that my door wasn’t locked, when we were done talking about whatever she was here for, I would get my chance. There was only one chair in the room, she took it, and I propped myself on the bed. Like the bath I had earlier this bed was nothing short of luxury.
