"You're going to marry Damien Black, the man whom I promised you nearly a decade ago," he said, raising his hands to the side, emphasizing the surprising news he had just sprung on me.
"Welcome, my son," Germaine said as Damien placed his hand on his shoulder. He was adopted. My father reached out his hand for me to stand when he added, "Tomorrow, you both shall be wed, and your glorious lives will begin!" 
I stood there in shock. How can he ask this of me? Telling me I am going to get married with no time to plan. Tomorrow! My wedding is tomorrow! Was this really happening to me?

However, this Book 2 fills in a lot of key details from Book 1 and gives you a different side of the story, one that you would never know happens unless you discover it for yourself.
