I LOVE this book. there are a couple of really cringy moments at the beginning but it’s one of my absolute favorite books. I’ve read it several times and Joni will read it over and over again. I’m in the middle of reading the second book and the third one is coming out later this month I believe. I can’t wait. read it. love it. Kieran and Krai are the best. Cassandra is amazing. their growth and love throughout the story is truly beautiful to read as it unfolds. just a beautiful story.

I’m really into this story. It’s so long though, but all stories on these kind of apps are long, so I won’t complain. The main character is strong and very likeable. It’s easy to route for her. And the dragon is adorable.

brilliant story- so creative and beautifully written. have read it multiple times and am now reading the sequels. sincerely hope the author continues to tell the story of each of the children. themes of class system, healing through love and kindness, quiet strength and courage. joyous and special.

Undeniably one of the best books I read this year and that includes literature. Also one of the best fantasy novels I have read. This dragon empire includes Jenny Fox’s signature drive for societal change and equal rights for both men and women, where strong women eventually have a say and encouraged to live their strengths and live well in what was originally a patriarch world. Kairen and Cassandra’s love is elegant, deep and mature. It was beautiful to watch Cassandra evolve as a character. Krai, the dragon, has won our hearts with his antics and thankfully shows up in the whole series. I’ve never come across a book with so many engaging positive comments, including gay men, who I roughly quote “even my non existent ovaries are bouncing for Kairen”. Kairen had us swooning and has set a precedence for real life and other book heros for me with his unwavering love. Some scenes were so poetic I was inspired or left us ugly crying. Read this book so you know what “Almein” means.
