Tara sat cross-legged on the cold basement floor, the dim bulb above her flickering as she pushed the metal plate of food away in disgust. The mushy stew had gone cold, its sour smell turning her stomach all over again. She swallowed hard, her throat dry, her body weak but her will still burning.
