Maddie POV

I watched as Mr. Maddox walked out through the windows, I had been awake for quite a while but I didn't want to let him know.

I was just exhausted from my morning dancing when he pushed my room door open invititng me to have breakfast.

I was shocked at first, you know that feeling you get when the man you've been eye fucking and thinking about suddenly asked you to eat breakfast with a damn weird attractive smile and outfit.

Everything about him was just so perfect, even his cock last night was as massive as him. Creep! I was really a creep for saying that out.

"Eat, you'll need your strength for later." Huh, what does that mean?

I watched as he walked out of me, I didn't move for a while after he left. My fork was still in midair, my hand stiff like I’d just been caught doing something wrong.

What the hell was that?

I exhaled, trying to steady my heartbeat. The moment he brushed my hair aside, it was like my brain stopped working. I could still feel where his fingers touched my cheek.

You guys, don't blame me. I mean I've been watching him ever since I arrived Eva's house and I mean the man is well packaged and loaded, even his ass is.

I looked down at the food in front of me. My appetite was gone but he said, “You’ll need your strength.” I mimicked.

For what exactly?

I stabbed a piece of pancake anyway and chewed slowly, pretending to focus on it.

“Get a grip, Maddie,” I muttered under my breath.

When I finished, I pushed the plate away and stood up, an average young man walked in and picked it up, the both of us bowing to each other. The house was huge and quiet.

As I walked past the living room, I caught sight of him outside by the car with Ryan. He was talking, his expression unreadable like always. My eyes trailed down to his revealing chest, his rolled sleeves and his veiny muscular arms that kept calling my attention — how was anyone supposed to keep a straight face around that man?

He turned slightly, like he sensed me looking. Our eyes met through the glass door and I looked away first. I wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction of thinking he had me flustered.

I walked back upstairs to get dressed.

Halfway up the stairs, I stopped and pressed my hand against the rail, shaking my head.

Beautiful than usual. That’s what he said.

He probably said that to every girl that crossed his path. He didn’t mean it, not like I care. Ok, I do!

Still, it stuck in my head like an annoying song I couldn’t stop humming.

When I finally reached my room, I closed the door and leaned on it. Eva was going to explain all this. I picked up my cellphone and dialed the fools number.

It was beeping and beeping before she finally picked up and when the foil picked up, she decided to scream at my ears.

“What the hell, Maddie? It’s not even twelve pm yet,” Eva’s voice croaked through the phone. she was still sleeping, I can't believe, she was still sleeping and I was here planning on how to behave.

“Yeah, good morning to you too,” I snapped. “You have a lot of explaining to do, you psycho bitch.”

There was a short pause. “Explain what?”

“Oh, I don’t know, maybe the part where your so called grieving father isn’t some old man in his fifties, but a six foot something devil in a fitted shirt who could ruin my entire life with one look.”

Eva sighed. “Oh my God. You found out already?”

“Obviously, weren't you the one who said it uhmm, last time,” I hissed, pacing the floor. “He walked into my room today like he owned me, Eva! And well, I did wanted him to own me, but he looks so scary. I was half dressed when he walked in, and he just stood there talking about breakfast like we’re married or something!”

Her laugh came through, muffled but way too amused. “You’re exaggerating.”

“Exaggerating? Eva, he called me princess too.”

That shut her up for a few seconds. Then, quietly, “He called you what?”

“Yeah. And he said, eat, you’ll need your strength.” I mimicked his voice, making it deep and annoyingly sexy. “What does that even mean, huh? Strength for what? To survive being under his roof?”

Eva groaned. “You’re being dramatic again. He’s harmless—”

“Harmless?” I barked out a laugh. “The man looks like he kills people for fun and don’t even get me started on how he smells. It’s criminal.”

She laughed again, harder this time. “So you did notice.”

“I’m hanging up.”

“No, no, wait! Maddie, listen, he’s not that bad once you get to know him.”

I frowned, flopping back on the bed.

I sat up, narrowing my eyes. “You’re kidding me right? Maddie, he looks like he could eat me within a minute.”

Well I mean, he did are me.

“Maddie, it’s not like that, okay? He just… has a dark sense of humor.”

I scoffed. “Yeah, well, his humor feels like a felony.”

She sighed again. “Just don’t piss him off. That’s all I’m saying.”

“Wow, that's really a comforting advice. You should see how he behaved when I told him, I was leaving your house, dude, I knew better than to keep quiet.”

“Maddie, please, just behave. I’ll come by tomorrow, okay? I’ll explain everything then.”

Before I could say anything else, she hung up.

I stared at my phone for a long second. Then I threw it on the bed and covered my face with a pillow.

“Behave,” I muttered. “Yeah, sure. It was easy for her to say when she’s not her with the goddamn Grim Reaper in a designer shirt.”

I groaned and rolled onto my side, staring at the ceiling.

Maybe I should just stay out of his way.

Yeah. That sounded smart.

Avoid him, eat, sleep and repeat the same routine.

What have I really gotten myself into?
