Chapter 128
[Evelyn’s POV]
“Wait, what?!”
Had he really said what I thought I heard?
Did Alexander seriously just throw that wild card topic out at a time like this??
For Christ’s sake, the man was literally lying between my legs with his face pressed between my thighs! His tongue was still stealing and wiping hot strokes against my folds as though he didn’t realize what he’d told me.
Alexander continued his ministrations as if nothing happened which sent my system into a spin. He started to press the pad of his thumb against my clit, causing that hot pressure to persistently build. I felt like I was being torn into two separate halves.
My mind wanted him to stop and explain himself, whereas my body wanted him to tip me clear over the edge and never stop.
Alexander had the ability to bring out the most intense feelings I’d ever felt. He knew how to work my body like a finely tuned instrument each time. Every movement was precise and made with some kind of meaningful intent.
It was passionate, heated, and always backed with determination so that my pleasure was satiated.
It was never this way with Liam.
Not that I particularly wanted to think about him at a time like this; however, it was something that needed to be evaluated. To think, there had been a point where I truly wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.
When it came to sharing moments like this, Liam wasn’t exactly the most giving partner. Sure, he’d touched and caressed me where it felt nice, but more so than not he only really cared about himself. Acts of pleasure were never ranked high on my list of priorities.
Yet, once I discovered how things were supposed to feel—I never wanted to return to that same kind of mentality ever again.
Another rush of heat spiked through me, making my fingers curl into the blankets.
“Goddamnit, Alexander!” I moaned. My breathing became too hectic for me to think straight. “Y-You can’t just...Ah!”
“Come on, sweetheart,” he urged. “I can feel how close you are. Don’t hold back.”
I clenched my teeth together and fought back a series of selected words I wanted to toss at him. Damn him. I wasn’t just going to let him bypass something so out-of-pocket.
I was determined to hold myself back for however long it took. Reaching down my front, I laced my fingers through his hair and roughly tugged his head back. Alexander gazed up at me with a mild look of surprise.
“Explain to me...Explain what you just said,” I demanded.
This man had the audacity to actually grin and chuckle at me. “You heard exactly what I said. I want to marry you. Again.”
My brows drew together in confusion. But why? Why would he want us to get married when we already are? Surely, he saw the redundancy.
“I...I don’t understand,” I confessed weakly. “And if you think that I’m going to fall asleep now then you’re out of your mind.”
Alexander quirked a brow and deepened his smile. “Then it appears I haven’t been trying hard enough. Keep your hand where it is and this time, you are not allowed to hold back.”
Every nerve in my body jittered and coiled as he descended back over my mound. He sucked and licked his way through my slick folds while keeping the heel of his palm pressed against my swollen bundle of nerves.
This time, he took his other hand and slowly inserted one of his fingers into my soaked center. The room became enveloped in soft sounds of me wanting more.
“Ooh,” I groaned. “Please, more. I need—”
He slid in another finger and picked up the pace. My hips gently lifted off the bed, desperate to meet each thrust of his hand.
“Oh my God!” I hissed. “That’s! Ahh! I’m...”
The tips of his fingers found that hidden spot inside of me that made me see stars. I fell over the edge and kept falling until every last shock came through.
By the time I had come back to my senses, my body felt like it was ready to give out. I sagged back against the mattress and struggled to keep my eyes open for another second.
All I could make out was Alexander humming in the background.
“We’ll talk more tomorrow, sweetheart.”
...
The second time I woke up, the sun was streaming through the blinds on the windows. The room was lit up with that perfect golden glow that had been feeling warm inside. There again, that could have just been from the muscular army that was draped around my center.
Alexander had us to where we were lying on our sides with my back pressed firmly against his front. I felt the tip of his nose buried in my hair.
The events of last night came rushing to the front of my mind. I’d been worried about the repercussions of Michael’s trial. I told him about my concerns over Caroline wanting to potentially get even.
...Alexander wants to get married again...
I took in a sharp inhale of breath. The moment I started to stretch out, I felt Alexander begin to shift. He let out a long.
“Good morning,” he hummed.
“Morning,” I said. I carefully turned in his arms until I was fully facing him. “Alexander, you need to explain this whole thing about wanting to marry again.”
Part of me felt a bit bad for coming off so harsh; but, I couldn't let it go for a second time with a clear answer.
“I mean, were you being serious?” I asked gently.
“Yes, I was,” he told me. “My reasons for wanting to marry you are because our first wedding was far less than ideal. You can’t tell me that you didn’t feel cheated in some way. It was far less than the bare minimum of what it should have been.”
I took my bottom lip between my teeth and softly bit down. “Well, it wasn’t initially what I’d been expecting...But after I found out why the whole thing was set up the way that it had been, it made sense. You didn’t know who I was and you didn’t trust me.”
“I want to give us the wedding that we deserve,” he pressed. “You’ve mentioned it numerous times in the past, this relationship never started off the way it was supposed to. We ended up doing things backward. Let’s have a redo.”
I narrowed my eyes while a playful smile started to spread. “Are you asking me to marry you, Alexander Kingston?”
Something unspoken flickered across his eyes. “Believe me, I have every intention of doing so. But, this time, I’m going to be doing it correctly.”
