Chapter 106

[Evelyn’s POV]

My mind was still on the fence about deciding how I really felt about having been kept in the dark regarding Alexander’s true physical state.

It bothered me that he didn’t trust me enough to just come out and tell me. There again, he had his reasoning. In the beginning, he and I didn’t know each other that well. But as time went on, he and I had been making decent strides when there weren’t any annoying misunderstandings.

Surely, he could have taken the time to discuss everything—especially when we were setting up that whole plan to distract Michael...

I could understand why he did it. If I had learned anything since our marriage started, the man possessed a decent group of enemies. So it was certainly more ideal to keep them all thinking that Alexander wasn’t much of a great threat.

Perhaps, in certain cases, it was better that I didn’t know the truth. Who knows what would have happened if I’d accidentally let the fact slip out in the middle of a conversation? Oh, God. I would have unintentionally ended up putting Alexander in danger.

It shouldn’t matter now. There are much bigger issues that I need to sort through at the moment.

“Alexander, what happened last night?” I asked hesitantly. “I mean, I don’t even fully recall how I got back here. One minute I was watching over my brother and the next thing I—”

My eyes grew wide in an unsettling realization. If I was here, then who the hell was at the house, watching over Edward?!

What the hell is wrong with me?? How could I do something so reckless? There’s no telling what will happen now he’s alone again with Isabella prowling around.

I let out a sharp gasp and nearly bolted out of the chair. Alexander was quick to reach out and grab my arms to steady me.

“Evelyn?”

“I-I need to return back to the house, I left my brother alone,” I stammered.

He lightly shook his head. “Calm down, it’s alright. Oliver stayed behind. He knew I needed to get you out of that house before anything else could go on.”

I bit the inside of my cheek and tried to let my nerves calm down. “Everything is such a blur,” I said.

He let his hands gently stroke up and down my arms.

“Why don’t we try to fill in the gaps of each other’s sides of the story?” he suggested. “What was the last thing you recall happening last night?”

I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes. “Michael had shown up to the house, unexpectedly. It freaked me out but I couldn’t let it show. I tried to ignore him because my main priority was ensuring that my brother was taken care of. I’d gotten up to make myself some tea. Unfortunately, I came across Isabella who was acting a bit strange.”

“Strange how?”

My stomach rolled at the memory of Isabella trying to practically coerce me into having an affair with Michael. I bit back a sneer.

“She just kept talking about what the situation was between Michael and me. I told her that there was absolutely nothing there but she didn’t take the hint. She went as far as to try and implant the idea that I should try having an affair with him.”

Alexander grimaced and snarled under his breath.

“I ignored her and finished making my tea. As soon as I took my first sip, I knew something was wrong. The flavor was off and I glanced down to find that even the color wasn’t how it should be.”

“Isabella is the one that slipped you the aphrodisiac,” he said.

I nodded. “I should have known better. I feel like such an idiot for not being careful.”

“No, I’m not going to let you blame yourself. How the hell did Isabella even obtain a fucking aphrodisiac?”

“I overheard Isabella talking to Samantha one night. My Stepsister was the main reason why she got it in the first place,” I told him. “Isabella claimed that she had connections.”

Alexander sat back in his chair with a darkened grizzly look.

“She slipped it into your tea, wanting to create a scandal,” he said bitterly. “With Michael there, it would have made the perfect story.”

I tucked my arms close to my chest and fought down the ugly, grueling feeling that crept from the back of my mind.

“The moment I knew something was wrong, it was too late. Everything felt dismal. I had almost zero control over my own body, it was like I’d been reduced to an animal in heat. It was...so degrading and horribly humiliating,” I said with a noticeable tremor in my voice. “Michael approached me...I tried to keep him away but he wouldn't listen. That’s when everything goes fuzzy for me.”

Alexander wasted no time reaching out to pull me into his arms. I felt his hand run through my hair in an attempt to soothe the anxiety that rivered through me.

“When Wendy told me what was going on here, I knew Michael was going to make his way toward you,” he admitted. “Oliver and I raced to your family’s house and searched nearly every room there. When we came across Isabella, I demanded to know where you were...That’s when I sort of revealed the fact that I could walk.”

I leaned back to gap at him with wide eyes. “You mean, Isabella saw that you didn’t need to be in a wheelchair? Oh my God, what did she do?”

A sly grin curled his mouth. “She looked like she was going to faint, honestly.” Slowly, his humor disappeared. “I heard you scream out. From there, I followed the sound and found Michael on top of you. I hauled him off and nearly beat the shit out of him. If Oliver had not intervened when he did, Michael wouldn’t be alive right now.”

“Then what?” I dared to ask.

“You were feeling the effects of the drug very strongly. You were lightly sweating and shaking and...”

“And what?” I pressed. “It’s okay, tell me.”

“You were overly aroused,” he hinted. “I didn’t want you to think that I was taking advantage of you as well, considering the circumstances.”

A short broken clip of my recent recollection came rushing to the front of my mind.

My body was writhing and shaking beneath Alexander's skillful hands. He licked and kissed his way down my chest to lower himself between my thighs. His tongue played at the sick folds of my center over and over again, bringing my body to a fever pitch.

“You taste so fucking sweet,” he groaned. “Should have been doing this ages ago.”

“Ah! Oh my God!”

“That’s it, baby. Use me...You’re getting so close, I can feel you tightening around my tongue...Be a good girl and come for me.”

The pressure between my legs became too much for me to bear and I felt like I’d been hurled off a cliff, freefalling into the unknown.

Oh. My. God.

Alexander gave me a worried look. “Evelyn? Did you remember something?”

My face flushed a deep shade of pink. “I, uh...Think I remember what he did last night.”

Much to my embarrassment, he gave me a cheeky grin.

“Oh, really?” he asked. “Between you and me, nothing would make me happier if I were given the chance to do that again.”

I gaped at him and practically stuttered. “Alexander!”

He let out a deep chuckle before leaning down to press a swift kiss to my lips.

“Wanna know what I found out from my little venture with Oliver?”
