Chapter 3 The Lycan King

Ophelia POV

“Get her out of my sight!” Dominic shouted behind me. “From this day forth, Ophelia is banished from the Moon Pack!”

Those words burned into my skin, banished, thrown away.

My chest hurt even more when I heard Eve shout loudly. “Filthy lowly omega doesn't have a place,” she burst into laughter.

My chest tightened, my hands shook. The wind pushed me forward slightly. It hurt more than I expected. I touched my chest, but I refused to shed any tears, not for him or my family.

I ran deeper and deeper into the forest. Branches tore through my dress, and blood dripped from my cuts, my heart wouldn’t stop hurting.

When I thought it was over I heard footsteps, a laugh and voices, I was alert.

“Well, well,” one of the men said from behind. “The weak omega didn’t go far.”

I turned, breathless, three wolves stood there, sent by someone I didn’t need to guess. Eve’s perfume still clung to one of them.

“Eve said you should be taught a lesson,” he sneered, his eyes glowing yellow.

My lips trembled. “Please… don’t.”

But they didn’t listen.

The first blow hit my side, the second across my face. I screamed, trying to crawl away, but they grabbed me, dragging me across the ground.

They laughed as they hit me again and again until I could no longer move.

I groaned and tried to fight back, but my body aches, and I could barely breathe.

When they were done, they left me by the river like I was nothing.

I tried to crawl forward, my vision fading, my body numb. The moon was still shining above, bright, full, and watching.

“Moon Goddess,” I whispered weakly, my lips trembling. “If you can hear me… please… Don't forget me.”

The wind howled through the trees, and then, everything went still.

The water beside me started glowing, soft light spilling over me. It was the moon… shining brighter like it saw me.

Then I heard a voice in my head, soft and kind. It didn’t sound real, who can it be?

“My child,” it said, “you will no longer be the one they step on. You are born of my blood. Rise again, my daughter.”

“Moon……” my vision went blanked.

I opened my eyes slowly, the morning light hit my face, I rolled over, this isn't my bed.

The memory of yesterday's incident flashed into my head, I groaned and touched my forehead, the memory hurts more than I expected.

But my body is normal, I ran my finger on my body, there is no blood or bruise, I felt lighter.

I froze and my breath seized. “What ... .what happened to me, is there something I am not remembering,” I whispered, pulling my hair, I think I am going crazy.

I remembered that Eve sent men, and they beat me up almost lifeless, and I remember praying to the moon goddess, and the voice called my name, can it be that…..

I shook the thought out of my mind, how can a moon goddess save someone, I am just lucky that it is the moon night.

I pushed myself up slowly, every muscle trembling, the air smelled differently, I could hear the whispering from the trees, as if calling me.

My wrist suddenly burned, I looked down and gasped, the mark, the small moon-shaped scar was glowing, and it is more visible now.

I took off the bracelet, and touched it, and for a moment, I saw flashes in my head, silver light, and a woman with eyes like stars, and a wolf bowing to her. Before I could get a better view it vanished.

I stood up, my dress was torn, covered in dirt and dried blood, but I barely felt the cold. I felt something fierce alive inside me, and I no longer felt the burden.

I started walking, I don't know where I am going, but I know I can't go back to the moon pack. After what Eve did to me and how the pack humiliated me and threw me out, I can still feel the sting in my heart.

Hours passed, the sun rise and my feet start to ache, but I kept walking

And then, suddenly, the forest changed. The trees stood taller, the scent of the air sharper and dominant, the air grew more thicker. I froze, and my chest tightened.

I didn’t realize until it was too late that I had crossed into Lycan territory.

I heard footsteps approaching me from behind and before I could turn, a rough hand grabbed me. I screamed and tried to fight, but my strength failed.

“Got her!” a voice barked. “She’s a trespasser!”

They used a cloth to cover my mouth, I struggled, kicked, but they were too strong. They dragged me through the forest, the ground scraping my knees, until everything became a blur.

When they pulled the cloth away, I was on my knees before a throne carved of black stone. The air was thick, the scent of power everywhere.

And then I saw him.

The man sitting on the throne looked like he had been carved from the moon itself, he is tall, broad, his silver eyes sharp and cold. His presence filled the room, and I shiver under his gaze.

King Logan.

I had heard stories about him, the ruthless Lycan ruler who made even Alphas bow. But no story prepared me for this.

He didn’t speak at first, he just looked at me. His gaze was heavy, burning, like he was trying to see through me.

I looked away, my heart pounding against my chest rapidly.

“Who are you?” His voice is sharp, deep and calm, yet dangerous.

“I—I didn’t mean to trespass,” I stammered. “I was only trying to find a safe place.”

He stood slowly, walking slowly. His aura is very strong, every step he takes makes my heart skip a beat.

He stopped in front of me, his scent was strong, wild and dangerous.

He crouched down until his face was level with mine. His eyes glowed faintly silver.

“Look at me,” he said softly..

Something inside me trembled. I tried to resist, but I looked up anyway.

His eyes met mine, and something deep inside my chest snapped.

It was a feeling I couldn’t explain. My heart raced, my breath caught, my chest raised rapidly, I almost forgot how to breathe.

His eyes widened, his lips parted slightly, like he had seen a ghost, or someone he had been waiting for all his life.

His hand reached out slowly, almost without thought, and brushed a strand of hair away from my face.

His touch was gentle, hesitant, as if he feared I might disappear if he blinked.

For a moment, he looked at me not like a stranger… but like someone he’d lost long ago.

I swallowed hard, confusion flooding through me. Why was he looking at me that way?

“What's your name?”

“O–Ophelia,” I said, my voice shaking

“Take her to the guest chamber,” he said suddenly, his voice sharp again. “ No one should touch her or speak to her unless I say so.”

“Please, I am not a spy,” I pleaded.

The guards hesitated, surprised by his tone. “My king—she’s a trespasser—”

“I said no one touches her!” Logan roared, his voice cutting into my skin

Everyone went still, and looked down.

He turned back to me once more, his expression unreadable now.

“Rest,” he said quietly, almost to himself. “You’re safe here… for now.”

The guards lifted me carefully, and as they led me away, I glanced back.

King Logan was still standing there, his eyes fixed on me, like he was staring at a part of himself he had finally found.

And for the first time, I wondered if maybe… just maybe… the Moon Goddess had a reason for everything.
